Hello I am new here. My name is Tracie and I live in Maryland. I hope that there are people here that are in the DC and MD area. I live in Temple Hills MD and I am looking to meet people that are raw eaters as a way to learn more about it. I have been reading on many sites and I will also purchase a few books. I have not gone raw yet, but I have been a vegetarian for 3 months and I would like to make the change soon...I just feel like I am not understanding 100% yet.
If you live in Maryland and close to me please send me a line and introduce yourself. It is all about having someone to talk to and get more education and encouragement.
Thanks,
Tracie

Aloha and Welcome to RFT Bubbles!! So glad that you found this forum! There is a lot of information available on this site! I do hope you get Alissas book and her DVD... there are a lot of rawbies that will agree that Alissas book is one of the best available. It is jam packed full of information, amazing recipes, and the testimonys RAWK!
i really enjoyed the DVD because I (like you) didn't really understand the 'raw food thing'. Seeing the DVD - was like having Alissa standing in my kitchen explaining to me and showing me how to create these amazing recipes. I got to see the textures of things and how things looked as she was making them. it was a very valuable tool in my transition to the living on live and vibrant foods!!
blessings on your journey --- enjoy the ride!!

Hi Tracie! You're on such an awesome path! I researched and researched, for 14 months before jumping into raw! I didn't fully get it at first, but I sure was prepared when we took that leap! :D This forum is so supportive, and there's a wealth of information here. I hope you connect with someone local & best wishes on your journey!:)

That was taken in July of this summer. Very deceiving...I am 240 pounds and need to loose 110 pounds...amazing what the right angle will do:D . I am 41 years old and could use more energy for my 7 year old daughter. I would like to be able to play with her and have great memories.
By the way...what does the word "seed" mean under my username and how are those decided?

We're seeds until we reach around 200 posts I think, then we become sprouts!;) I've seen some trees here and there too! That must take a ton of posting.
No really, you're beautiful! In 2 or 3 months you'll be glowing!:D
I started raw 3 months ago at 269 pounds. Blech! Last January I was 296!
I'm still waiting on that raw energy, I think I keep detoxing, and one of my detox symptoms is being tired. Luck me. I have 2 girls, 3 yrs old and about to be 6, so I know what you mean!

Well congrats on your weight loss:cool: . I see that Alissa recommends a liver cleanse and has the directions that I printed out. However, what detox regimens do most people use here for the kidneys and parasites?

Thanks.:o
Hmm, good question. I haven't even done the liver cleanse, myself. Perhaps start a specific new thread asking that question? It's sure to be noticed if you post it in the general discussion area, or the health forum...

So you are not doing an actual detox...just the effects of eating raw and the body doing its thing on its own.

Right, doing 100% raw causes a detox in itself. I do need to do extra cleansing & detoxing probably. Just waiting till it feels right for me. Sounds very cool!
