I'm new to these boards, about a month into increasing my raw intake. I am not 100 percent raw. More like 50 to 70 percent, with any cooked foods I eat being strictly vegetarian. I'm doing my best to food-combine properly.
I'm 5' 6" and 115 pounds. Or at least I was. I'm a little afraid to weigh myself these days, because all my clothes get looser and looser. I've got bony spots, like at the base of my back, which makes it uncomfortable to do yoga, even on carpet and with a mat. Sitting on a bicycle seat the other day, I could totally feel my bones.
I've got to get this stabilized. I'm beginning to look anorexic.
I eat avocadoes and nuts and olive oil. I just think I need more CALORIES.
How should I proceed?

Hi Anne, I don't really have an answer for you, as I've never had that problem before ... but there are before and after photos of people on this website welikeitraw.com I am not sending you there as a promotion for the site (I think rawfoodtalk is the best site around), but rather for you to see a woman named Abbey's before and after photos - she did raw to gain weight - maybe her example will inspire you. You can find her story in the before and after picture spot, she is the bottom story ... hope that helps!

You may want to look over this thread: http://rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?p=283658&highlight=shedding+false+body#post283658
There are others like it if you would like to do a search for them.
I know that when you go all raw it is normal/common to "shed your false body" (all the OLD gunk and "junk" hidden and stored in your fat cells and tissue, etc.) however, I'm not sure if this applies when eating a much lower percentage of raw food or not. Have you tried perhaps going 100% raw for at least 30 days? I mean, there "could" be an imbalance going on. I hear some say that when they eat part raw and part (vegan/vegetarian) cooked that it actually helped them put/keep their weight on so I'm not exactly sure in this case.
You could try upping your fat intake but there is no guarantee that will do the trick.

Some tips/opinions:
1) Eat fewer - and larger meals (2 large meals per day).
2) Eat some fat with every meal.
3) Lift weights to pack on muscle.
4) Computer how many calories you need to maintain body weight. Make sure to eat at least 100 calories greater than this every day.
5) Get regular and longer sleep.
6) Get fresh air and exercise every day.

Dried fruit is an easy (and tasty) way to load up on calories.
