Hi
I bought two persimmons for a special Thanksgiving breakfast. They are ripe right now. Quite. How do I store them to keep them until Thursday? Should I put them in the fridge? They are on the counter right now.
Also in the past I have just kind of peeled the skin off and eaten them like that. Pretty messy. How do you all eat them?
Thanks alot

No ideas on storage- fridge maybe for a couple of days??
but opening it
I bite into the side of the fruit, then open a little flap, scoop the inside out with a small spoon...lovely jelly goodness, then when I finish eat all the empty skin up :D

Wow, so you eat the skin?
Thank you for replying. They are very ripe right now and I really wanted to save them for Thanksgiving. I hope they hold out until then.

Persimmons! Lucky. If they are ripe just store them in the fridge.:)
Enjoy them!

I am so Blessed to get mine from a Neighbor, who does not like them. I also can just ring any doorbell, where I see a tree, and pick all I want.
Ok enough BRAGGING......First I use them for Decoration in a Fruit Bowl(s), then I rotate them and as one ripens.......I just eat it like an apple, I also add them to my Smoothies, then when they all want to ripen at the same time.......
I put them in a ZipLock and store them into the Freezer. And of course I just add them to my Fruit, Green Smoothies, anytime I want to enjoy the RAWonderful Flavor of Persimmons.
Have a RAWonderful THANKS-GIVING, and just store them in the Fridge and they will last for days. If you were closer, I would Share mine with you......I think.....

I like to leave mine out - both varieties. They don't ever seem to rot no matter how long left out. At times, I have expected them to be sour at least, but never once. I think they just get sweeter and sweeter.
I suppose if it started oozing some nectar, I'd put it in the fridge ;)
Best,
