What are everyones views about salt? I have read a few articles how harmful salt (even sea salt) can be on the body. I already know Nama Shoyu doesnt make me feel too good and gives a lot of mucus. So now I still remain confused about salt.
Thanks!

I use Celtic Sea Salt, Nama Shoyu, and Braggs.
I have LOW blood pressure and my body seems to crave it sometimes.
So I use it.
I think each person is different.
And let me tell you... I've lived so long that I've seen EVERYTHING go in a big cycle of being proven healthy, unhealthy, healthy, unhealthy.
I just eat what my body tells me to eat.

I have LBP as well and if I don't have some sea salt in my diet I start getting VERY lightheaded when I stand up and have nearly fainted a few times. I do agree that everyone is different, but I think salt in moderation is something our body can use and was meant to use.

Yo,
Use French sea salt.
Trust me, I know.

But it's a "naturally-occuring" MSG...not the chemical, added-in kind. Not sure whether or not that makes a difference but I know that many people still use Bragg's with absolutely no problems, especially those who cannot have wheat/gluten (which is in Nama Shoyu) since Bragg's is wheat-free. In fact, I recall someone posting something here a while ago that stated that ALL soy-sauce products end up with MSG that occurs naturally during the process of fermentation or something to that effect.
I agree wholeheartedly with RowanC though... there are MANY, MANY arguments for or against something...good for ya, bad for ya...you have to just pay attention to what you can have and cannot have. Personally, I do still consume sea salt with no problems. I know people who will swell up if they eat regular, refined table salt but will not experience those problems with sea salt.

I have no problems with sea salt. I don't use Braggs or Nama Shoyu because I've eliminated soy from my diet and daughter is allergic.

Yep, MSG is a naturally occuring compound in foods like mushrooms and tomatoes, so if you want to avoid MSG altogether then skip those as well.
And yep, the conversation's been had many times over regarding MSG, but it'll keep coming up and that's cool.
SOME people react to MSG, but many don't.
It's the same as salt, if you have heaps, it's bound to have negative health effects, but if you keep it to a sensible level then it'll just be something to add a little 'spice' to your meals.
Don't sweat it, the raised cortisol levels (a stress hormone) from worrying about it will probably cause more ill health than the stuff itself!
I use plain celtic sea salt, and will also add this to dehydrated powdered vegetables to make a raw seasoning.
When 100% raw I don't use any soy sauce, and have gone off braggs as it's basically just really expensive soy sauce and not raw.

I don't think nutrients that are part of the plants we eat as food will hurt me and in fact will do a body good. On the other hand I think that anything that has not been made a part of the food will indeed cause harm. Salt is an example of an element that is very helpful to the body when eaten as part of a plant like celery but can cause harm when eaten as a separate chemical that is not chelated in the food.
