Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. I am putting a whole cucumber into my new juicer to make the Alissa's green drink. Am I supposed to peel it and seed it? I doubt it but I have to be sure. Thanks.
Sue. (This is day 1 for me and I am so enthusiastic!)

I don't peel the cuke for juicing as I depend on the fine screen to get the wax out with the pulp. I always peel the cuke for anything else and that includes smoothies or eating as in salads etc because of the wax on the skin. I would be interested in hearing other peoples opinions about putting the cuke into the juicer peel and all as this is something I decided for myself and is not based on anything I have read or heard and so quite frankly I could be wrong in this practice. If you have any thoughts or opinions about putting the whole cuke into the juicer I would be interested in reading them. Thanks :)

I think for me it would depend on whether the cuke was organic or not?
If it was organic, i'd put the whole thing in.
If not, I probabaly would peel it because even if the screen got out the wax, the pesticides would still be there?

Hi RowanC and EZ rider. Thanks for your replies. I went ahead and put the whole cuke in but now that you mention it, it might not be such a good idea as wax could in time clog up the screen? I just can't afford to get everything organic, but as I proceed in this new venture, I'll likely add more and more organic to my foods. Yes, I'd like to hear from more of you on this too! Am I allowed to mention the name of my juicer on this board - I'd like to get some feedback on whether others have it and if they like it? Have a lovely day.
Sue.

I've done it both ways and I like it both ways. Sometimes I just don't feel like peeling. :D I've got a masticating juicer and a centrifugal juicer and I find the latter works the best for cukes ~ gets most of the juice.

I don't peel, keeps the nutrients in! And makes the juice brighter green :)

I have just started juicing cucumbers again. I thought I would give it another try. I did not like cucumber juice the first time I made it. Yuck! Now I can drink it with a little sea salt and a apple. I always peel them because I can't get organic ones from my local stores. I don't know if it is just me, but I think the size and color of the cucumber makes a difference in the taste. I wonder if organic cucumbers taste better? I know that there is a difference in other produce.
