I have tried this recipe once and it turned out bad-I think I put too much onions in it. I wanted to try it again and I did today and put it in the excalibur dehyrator around 3:30pm and it is now 9:30pm and it is still like it was when I put it in pretty much-help??

Don't know which onion bread you used but one calls for way too many onions and I once made that one and it was a nightmare. I added a lot more ground flax so it wasn't so wet when I put it on the teflex sheet. Take it off the sheet and put it back in a food processor or bowl and add more ground flax (maybe a cup or more depending on the wetness). That is how I saved my batch. When I make it now I only use about 2 medium sized onions or whatever veggies I have on hand.

Hey
Thanks-that is a good idea about taking it off and putting more flaxseed back in. That is the problem it is wet. I did keep a lot of the onions out this time. I even put some zuc peices on a tray last night thinking something might of been wrong with my dehyrator, but of course it works.

What an interesting idea--to add other veggies to the onion bread! I may try that. I made my first batch of onion bread the other day. The flavor was great, but it was much too oily for my taste. And it spent about 20 hours in the dehydrator before it was somewhat dry. Is this normal? It was about 1/2" thick. Perhaps this is too thick?

Did you use Matt Amseden's recipe? We found that the Nama shoyu has to be cut in half, it's really good though. My little guy licks the batter from the bowl.

I've found that if I use anything other than sweet onions, it turns out weird. I've tried yellow, white, and purple. Yes, I use the whole 2 1/2 lbs, and I also grind the whole batch smooth into a batter, onions and all.
