Hello all I have been checking in but not posting for various amounts of reasons. Well I just want to let people know that every body is truly different, in so far as what it needs in order to lose weight. I have been on my raw journey for about 7 months now. The first 2 months I lost 14 lbs eating anything and everything and as much as I wanted. After the initial loss I didn't lose any more even though I still had about 15 lbs to lose. I just waited and figured it would come off in due time. But then I started graduate school and went from a highly active life style to one where it is normal to sit in class or study group for 12-15 hours a day. I was still walking or gyming it for about 1 hour 3-5 days a week. But the weight started creeping back on even though I was still high raw. Finally after putting on my favorite jeans and taking them off because they were too uncomfortable I decided I had to change/tweak my diet. I had been using the philosphy as long as it is raw it is fine. I was really confused because I kept reading how good raw fats help you lose weight, but I could never seem to reduce my fruit intake enough to make this work. So for the last week I have been eating fruits vegtables and young coconuts, but no oils and no nuts, but a few seeds. As of one week I have lost exactly 4lbs! I am losing again thank goodness, because I did not want to go into the holiday season at my preraw weight. So I just want to reiterate if high fat is working for you great you are one lucky rawfoody, but if you are not losing weight, you may need to adjust the amount of fat and concentrate on more veggies and fruit. Cheers all.

That's wonderful, pinkrosebud, and very helpful information. I'm another one who can't lost weight with all the oils and nuts... I'm interested though that you found you could include some young coconut. What about avocado -- that doesn't seem to stop weight-loss for some people.

Oooh, can't wait for that answer on the avocados -- cause I just love them and have been going a little crazy on them (new at this way of eating though -- about a week_ I've noticed that my desire for fruit is at a minimum ... nuts are so/so ... but those avocados !!
Wish I had access to young coconuts.

I wonder how much of an impact on weight and health nuts have on the raw food eater's diet because I have heard that most nuts arn't raw. In fact I have heard that even the almonds are getting harder to get raw due to new laws about pasteurization. It seems to me that nuts (other then truly raw ones) represent a high fat dead food and that not what I want to eat. How about you ?

I have not had any avocado this week, but I am going to have some next week. Actually next week is going to be extremely hard due to thanksgiving at some one elses house and then going out of town with friends who only eat out at their families restraunts. But I am going to do my best with the options presented. I have also not been 100% raw do to it being winter and so many in season vegtables are the type my stomack requires I cook to some degree. But I am really watching my fat. Even the young coconuts I keep to just one a day. Thanks for all the encouragment and support. Love Pinkrosebud!
