Hello everyone,
Just to let you know what I heard on television about age related macular degeneration. It was on a programme here in the UK called 'The diet doctors'. and also it was on another programme that was trying to prove natural things worked. An old lady had macular degeneration. They tested her eyes first. Then they told her to eat a good portion of raw spinach, once a week as it contained lutein, (I think). Anyway, after 3 months, they tested her eyes again and her macular had healed and her eyesight was normal. Needless to say, Bob and I eat a little spinach every day now. For prevention. Isn't this a lovely site. (not sight;) ha. ha.
God bless you all

I heard a radio interview a few days ago with 2 guys that were selling a piece of equipment to eye doctors to measure it and they were also touting a supplement containing 3 ingreedents necessary to remedy it.
They were asked why these items could not be had by eating the foods that they came from and they claimed that you would have to eat bucketfulls.
I can not recall which word they misspronounced but it was obvious to me that they had learned all of their info from a script and knew very little.

I've read a lot about how it is thought that greens help to prevent and heal macular degeneration, I eat tons of greens and believe they will help keep my eyes healthy! My mom had macular degeneration and it was very sad to see her eyesight get worse so quickly. I made her green smoothies but I am sure it was too little too late. Yeah for GREEN smoothies!

Get your mother to eat spinach as often as possible. I don't know if all the other greens contain Lutein, but spinach is rich in it and it is that which heals the macular.
