Hi all~
I realized that this past week I've had sooo much olive oil! I used it in raw chili, the caulifower couscous from rawvolution, and today in miso-mushroom soup from ani phyo's book. yikes. i've thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, but I feel a little uneasy about the fact that olive oil seems to be in everything...am i eating too much of it? I feel really good, not sick, not heavy, but I wonder if this is ok as a general rule. i don't want to *gain* weight, for sure. I know that we're all different. Any feedback is appreciated!

just enjoy the journey... don't sweat it - relax and get used to eating raw first... then as your journey progresses.... you will have plenty of time to fine tune it - tweak it - mix it up - or down.... but for now -- just enjoy the journey!!

rawk on!

I wouldn't worry about it. Good fats can actually aid in losing weight as they satisfy hunger and improve metabolism. It's a common misconception that eating fat makes you fat. It can do, but only if its the wrong king combined with the wrong things! Everyone's different, but for me, it's sugary things that are likely to make me gain, not fats.

This didn't work the 1st time I went raw a couple of years ago, but it did this time. I eat an avo a day, plus a few T of nuts/seeds and several T (or more) of coconut oil, coconut, and probably a 1/4 c of olive oil between recipes and salad dressing and I have steadily lost weight. I fasted and got down to 136. Then I started eating again and my weight went to 145 or so. This morning it was 139, so I'm heading back down again and enjoying every bite. (You could weigh yourself periodically and just make sure it isn't making you gain. When I went raw 2 years ago the nuts and avos and oils made it so I couldn't lose weight. I think I am more balanced now and my metabolism is working better, ya know?)

i don't think that's bad as long as you feel good!! :D just make sure it's the best olive oil for your body with the whole range of benefits! extra virgin, first cold pressed

Gosh I really needed to read this this morning. Just what I was looking for!
My goal is to both lose weight and gain health/energy. At first this last month I was looking for ways to lose weight *fast* and then switch to raw foods. Then I decided that my health came first.

I gained 25 pounds this year and have hit an all-time high of 148 lbs. and can't fit into my winter clothes of last year. If I have to buy a few larger sizes at a consignment shop on my journey to my goal, guess I'll just do that.

I'm still waiting for Alissa's book to arrive and was concerned about all the olive oil, nuts, and avocados I've been consuming.

I love this forum and all of the ideas and support that is offered. I am deeply appreciative and feel blessed!

SW - 148 lbs.
CW - 146 lbs.
GW - 111 lbs. (or back into my size 4 ! )

i have so much hemp oil its ridiculous.
+hemp powder
+hemp seeds
+an avo

every day

ive never been this light!
its ridiculous. lol.
well no, i was lighter in the summer,
but my body wanted 5 lbs for winter,
and i think i got those via root veggies.

i was eating even more fats in the summer,
and ive only stopped eating nuts because i can tell theyre not raw.

:)

go for it.

but it is good to vary fats.

im definitely partial to the hemp,
but i try to fit in flax,
pumpkin seed,
sesame,
etc.
sometimes olive but i think its gross. LOL!

love

I appreciate your posts!

I DO feel light! In fact, I just went out and ran a little for the first time in months and months. It felt so much easier than ever before. No comparison. It's the first time I've ever exercised where I didn't feel like I was fighting to overcome some kind of nutritional deficit. AND I have no more pain my foot after having plantar fasciitis for 2.5 years, as a result of the wrong running shoe. I mean, I've been semi-limping for years, until starting this wonderful raw journey. :)

I will try to vary my oils. I'm interested in the hemp oil, but don't have any yet.
