Hi everyone. I have been lurking here for a couple of weeks after stumbling upon this forum in desperate search of people who believed in the value of food combining as I followed a strict food combining diet once- for all of two weeks. I remember how much more alert I felt after just two weeks and I lost a lot of weight. However, it was so restrictive. I ordered Alissa's book and DVD and am half way through the book. I am just thrilled to have come upon this information and am absolutely determined to do it - go 100% raw. I have had my last cup of coffee. I have also cleared out my cupboards of all the low-carb products I spent a fortune on. I cleared off my counter to accomodate a Vita-Mix, Juicer and Dehydrator which I have ordered. I am a Canadian, living in Ontario and am having trouble finding everything I need. I guess I'll post questions about that in another area. I am so new at this "posting" and haven't a clue about what I am doing. I am going to try to find a way to thank Alissa for sharing her story and all that she has learned about the value of going raw. I know this will work for me. I am 61, about 65 lbs overweight, have high blood pressure and feel terrible most of the time. I was getting very discouraged to say the least. I also ordered Shazzie's DVD series and Books! Can't wait 'til they arrive! Is there somewhere on this forum where I can learn exactly what to do to "post" properly and what all those different envelopes mean on the side? Have a great day everyone!
Sue.

Hey there! It's great to hear you're so ready to commit to raw foods. You sound so determined and I'm sure you'll do great :)
Forum announcements and assistance section on the main page should take care of any technical worries you have!
Alissa's DVDs and books are obviously great and I'm sure Shazzie's stuff will be too, I haven't got her books or DVDs but I want them! I love her youtube videos, so check them out if you haven't seen them!
Good luck x

Welcome! There are some raw folks up your way in Ontario - a good start is looking for a raw food teacher in your area and you'll make connections which are so important in your journey.
Just point and click on the folders - you can't do much damage!
Have fun!

Aloha and Welcome to RFT!!! We share your excitment with you! It's wonderful that you have found this forum, and already have Alissa book and the DVD... those two tools ABSOLUTLEY helped me to transition successfully to the raw foods lifestyle. I followed the 30 day plan in Alissas book for my first 30 days. Since I had no clue what I was doing... it was so easy - the food was amazing - DELICIOUS!! and it helped having Alissas wisdom guiding me thru the first 30 days.
I'm 51 - and went raw April 1, 2007... it has been the most amazing journey so far... I love my life now -- I have lost 51 pounds so far (and a few more - I don't weigh myself -- just mostly go by how my clothes are fitting). My health is better than it has ever been, my mind is clearer than it has ever been.... and I am happier than I have ever been....
blessings you your journey... going 100% will change your life and the benefits will amaze you!
I'm soooo glad you are here! If you want to join us in the blogging section -to keep a personal journal of your experience... up above see the green bar with the words...

good luck -- and welcome!

Yes. Welcome, indeed! I'm 66 and always particularly happy to see folks over 50 sign on. I've been raw since December, and I, too, feel better than I think I've ever felt in my life, and I didn't even feel bad! When you're browsing around in RFT, check out the "Over 50 category". I usually find some helpful things there.
Re bp, I've been on medication for 15 years, and my md just took mo off of one of my 3 meds. I was elated. I'm also elated about all my weight loss. It was so effortless. I just ate RAW.
Welcome, again! Enjoy your stay here!:p

Thank you all so much for taking time from your busy lives to welcome me. I am still going to do this but I backslided already. I am telling myself that when I learn how to use the juicer (by Monday!) I will go full speed ahead. Am still drinking coffee (such a hectic life). But yesterday I picked up the juicer and the dehydrater (sp?) and some chard, kale, spinach and collards as well as some medjool dates! I was thrilled to find them! I know Alissa used them in her marinara sauce on the DVD. I'll get back to you all soon - really I will. Have a fine weekend. I can tell you are all feeling vibrant on raw food. That is what I want also.

I am still going to do this but I backslided already.Just relax, take a few deep breaths and then try to figure out what happened in the backslide. Then, here comes the important part, try to LEARN something from it to help you on your raw lifestyle journey. Good luck.

Hi Sue! Welcome! I sure hope you jump right in and post away! This forum is so awesome, everyone is very supportive, and so knowledgeable. Glad to have you here! :D It sure sounds like you're very committed! Wonderful! My family got rid of all non-raw foods when we went 100% overnight. It was the only way for us. We gave away a lot of money in foods, condiments, etc. You're going to have so much fun with this! It's so easy, and Alissa's style is so laid back and she makes it SO fun to be raw. Just what we need!
