Have one bunion about 8 years. to me it's big. It can annoying too at times. I have great insurance till end of Feb. so trying to work on this nasty situation and avoid any surgery or doctors.

I was reading about Yoga Toes helpful to avoid bunion surgery.

Anyone familiar with Yoga Toes.

http://www.yogapro.com/ts/foot_factsII.html

I see these Toes helpful for other feet conditions.

Thanks.

Hi there - I sent YogaToes to a friend of mine who had the same problem and she was able to stave off surgery for several years when she used it regularly. I dont know if she has had the surgery or not, but a cheaper alternative is to site pens of various widths between your toes, rest your legs, and work at stretching and contracting the webs of the feet such that you "make more room" for the pens. Just having the pens in there the 1st week or so will be enough work for you -- you may not even have to do anything except try to relax. You can also try 2 toe separators from a manicure set and insert those as well..

Hope that helps!

I have yoga toes, but I don't have a bunion. The yoga toes are great because they are a soft and squishy firm gel like substance. The pen idea would work but it would put pressure on the bones in your toes.

Since I was little I would stick my fingers between each of my toes, like I was folding my hands for prayer. This would stretch out my toes and relax them quite a bit. The yoga toes are great because your hands are free and you can read, knit, stretch, etc while your toes stretch in a nice relaxing way.

Highly recommended.

Carolg,
Thanks for posting about these! I have bunions on both feet, with one being much worse than the other. I think I will eventually need to get them corrected, but Yoga Toes look like they might help things right now.

I do this too! :) I love the stretch and it makes my feet feel so much better.

I LOVE you all. Your replies are fabulous. It's Christmas in November right now for me and I am ordering the Yoga Toes. They only sell them online as I got a reply message today.

I am going to teach my 2 1/2 year old how to do the toe streth prana used. This kid is smart so when I get to TX for Christmas we are going to play the "toe stretching" game.

Do you use them while around in house or with shoes? Can you sleep with them? Is one pair enough? I didn't spend much time there at site besides seeing my bunion and lots of testimonies. Wonder if there is a great yoga site where I may get some exercises as well. Let me know about yoga egroups, etc. Thanks.

Interesting about the pen too.

Malina, gosh, two bunions. I feel for you. I pray I don't have the birth of a bunion on the other foot ever or give it any fuel to manifest.

I did speak to a woman who used these heated beds you lay on who got rid of bunion for a while, but once she quit doing the infared beds for months her bunion returned.

Awesome again.

Will order these Yoga toes and get back to you once I start using them.

Rawnaija,
What's toe separators?

All:

Feel free to remind me to get to yoga toes talk.

Hugs to all you beautiful people,

Talk about synchronicity -- I just got a pain in my toe joint a week or so ago and noticed that it looks like a bunion developing.

I remembered something a physio friend mentioned a few years ago: you put a really thick elastic band -- or make one from a piece of knicker elastic (do you have that in the US?) -- then you slip it over your two big toes and pull them apart, so that the toes straighten.

Now I keep a big thick elastic band on my desk, slip my shoes off, pop the elastic band and let my toes straighten as I work!

I am also doing Louise Hay's affirmation for bunions: 'I joyously run forward to greet life's wonderful experiences'...

I think it's working...
