Hello,
i wanted to see if someone can enlighten me about this... So i've had stomach problems, bloating and such- today i tried to have dinner according to the food combining principles and seem to feel good..... but i wonder: WHY as we start to eat the best living foods, all these stomach problems come up? Well i understand all the toxins have to come out of us (or something of that sort) but WHY exactly doesn't that occur while eating junk? I see people stuffing themselves with pizza and they're not bloated :( thye don't worry about food combining...
I simply wonder if someone can share some link/quote to give an explanation to why all the stomach issues with going on a better-for-you way of eating??
uh i'm just a bit frustrated.. seeking some answers :o thanks in advance!

Actually, millions of people suffer from digestive problems including bloating on SAD. I had horrible gas and bloating and IBS before I went raw.
Often, when we go raw and as our bodies heal, they start letting us know when we are making less than ideal choices by giving us uncomfortable symptoms. It means we are getting healthier. Simple, well combined meals is what our bodies thrive on, so it makes sense that it will tell us when we deviate from that.

I can so relate. Madeline your post was very good and right on target. Taking a higher quality enzyeme than Beano seems to help me too, although it's hard not to overeat sometimes- I just made Alissa's Macadamia Banana fudge cookies and I can't have just one! :p
I was also told by a hydrotherapist that a digestive system is weaked due to a SAD diet over the years and it will just take time to heal and digest properly.

hmm yes that does make sence
And that IS true when i think of it- tons of people have digestive problems without raw..maybe they just take it as "normal" and treat it with pills. I guess our body does become more "sensitive" to how we combine foods.
Thanks for the replies!

i think i found a sort of "more scientific" explanation i was looking for..:
"Building Hydrochloric Acid.(HCI)
When switching over to a diet containing more veggies, it is important to build up (HCI) acid in the stomach. (HCI) is used by the stomach to break down fiber and plant roughage. Over ones lifetime , the eating of animal foods, demineralization food and a few token veggies and emotional stress, causes the body to lose HCI..
Acidic foods can help stimulate HCI producion. Take a shot of lemon juice or raw cider vinegar to increase HCI production before eating a salad, also a shot of ginger also works effectively as well, also eating oranges or other citrus fruits before during or after a sald may also be helpful for some people..
Excellent foods and veggie juice to build HCI
celery, spinach, chard, kale, lemon juice, raw apple cider vinegar, ginger, olives (not green) celtic sea salt, grass poweders, NFF"
from Eating For Beauty... (i found this at sunfood.com forum)
