How do you store zucchini chips? In what kind of container? In the refrigerator?
I made some recently and they became mushy and moldy before their time (IMO). They tasted so good when they were fresh, but now I'm a bit afraid to try again--I hate to throw things out. Thanks.

I store mine in a plastic ziplock bag....BUT first I make sure they are really cool from the dehydrator before I put them in a baggie. My latest batch has been in a baggie for a month and they are still crunchy and fresh (no mold).

AND I don't put them in the refrigerator. I just throw them in my snack bin in my pantry (which is dark and cool).

walnutty,
Interesting when I put eggplant bacon in a ziploc bag they go soft but maybe I don't cool them enough? My success is using an airtight container.
My zucchini chips are taking forever to crisp up in the dehydrator. I'm making Alissa's Italian ones with that Italian dressing and I put them on the teflex sheets overnight and they are still soft. I just took them off there and onto the mesh sheets so hopefully they will crisp up soon.

spiralgirl,
I used tvillemom's recipe.... zuchinni chips w/nutritional yeast and sea salt. I dehydrated them almost 2 days at 105 degrees. The trick is to take one out of the dehydrator and let it cool completely and then bite into it. Is it the crispness you want? If not, put it in longer. Always make sure to let it cool completely before you put it away. I just turn off the EX and let the stuff sit in there for an hour or two and then put it away. My stuff stays crunchy whether I use glass containers or zip lock bags. Good luck!

I'm glad ya'll put the tips here!
Now, if mine ever last more than five minutes:eek: (my kids DEVOUR them), I'll know how to store them properly!:D

I've actually left mine in the dehydrator for a day...without it running...(oops) but they were still good...cooled down and then in a ziploc back in the cabinet, where they don't last long!!! DH (who is not raw) loves these chips and will eat the equivalent of a whole deh. sheet by himself in one sitting!!!

walnutty,
Oh, I gotta find tvillemom's recipe for these. I made Alissa's Italian Dressing ones and they were really good.

Tvillemom, I made some zucchini chips on Friday afternoon and sprinkled nut. yeast and a bit of salt on them before dehydrating. They were a HUGE hit!! My dh also ate a tray-full! My question is: How do you sprinkle the nut. yeast without losing a bunch through the mesh onto the counter?
