Help me figure this out! This is a typical day:

Morning
Green juice, smoothie and fruit til noon

Lunch
Big salad (entree plate size), all raw. Usually about three cups of lettuce, half a carrot, half a red pepper, half an avocado, maybe some onion, and a raw dressing.
Raw sandwich fillings (avocado, tomato, onion, lettuce) on cooked whole wheat roll OR a cup of cooked lentils OR a cup of cooked potato/leek soup (vegan) OR a cup of cooked WW pasta with raw tomatoes and basil and evoo

Snack
Lara bar or homemade mixture of raw nuts, seeds and dried fruit
OR Green juice OR raw olives.
I often have a cup of yerba mate tea in the afternoon, too.

Dinner
Same as lunch (big salad) except instead of the ones I mentioned above, cooked sides might include two black bean tacos OR bean burritos on sprouted wheat tortillas OR a bowl of brown rice and steamed broccoli OR a bowl of soba noodles with namu shoyu.

Occasionally I'll have more nuts a few hours after dinner.

After the holidays I'd like to wean myself off the cooked side at lunch, but right now I look so forward to it . . .

In my own opinion, since you're eating cooked foods for lunch and dinner, that's 50% raw.

How does one figure a percentage raw? Is it based on volume or calories?

I think it should be based on calories/calorie density, as a large salad or any raw veggie dish will be larger than say, a whole wheat roll, but the roll is far more calorie dense

I've never understood how to figure out the 'what percentage am I' question .... I dunno if you count calories or whateverz... personally I don't see how 'calories' figure into the equation. I guess.... when I try to think about how raw my dh is.... I sorta look at what the boy is eating....

how much raw stuff in comparison to cooked or processed stuff.... Overall - I'd say my dh is between 80 to 90% High Raw. the rest of the time - he just eats crap... (very sad!)... but I do have hope and he is changing! (he started reading Alissas book which THRILLS ME TO NO END!!!

BUT... back to you http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/thinking.gif ... looking at your food intake... I notice you're not eating meat - but some vegan stuff - or hot teas. so -- imho... you are still making some very wise choices. but ... it does look like 50% of your food intake is not raw.

does it matter to you? How are you feeling --??? do you feel healthy? Are you trying to lose weight -- or reclaim health - or anything like that? Cuz your foods look pretty darn good to me!

but you do need to remember though.... whatever percentage raw is wonderful.... (better some percentage raw than no raw!!) but to achieve the full benefits of the raw lifestyle - 100% is optimal!

I agree. I'd say 50% or so.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't know that I care about the percentage, exactly. I just keep hearing "80/20" and wondered if I was close. I need to adjust a few things I'm doing in order to keep from losing weight. (I'm 5'6" and weigh 115, so there's no weight to lose.) Also, going til noon on green drinks and fruit sometimes leaves me a little lightheaded.

In my attempt to properly food combine, I can't seem to find a good time to eat nuts. If I lose that lunchtime cooked side, perhaps I could replace it with something involving nuts.

I'm healthy and want to stay that way. I've had some stomach issues (heartburn, acid stomach, unexplained nausea on occasion) that I've hoped raw will solve. And so far it has.
