There are loads of great recipes for icecream, but alot of them use a icecream maker, which I don't have.
What exactly does the icecream maker do? Can I whirl things in the blender, FP, or.....
Does anyone have experience making these recipes wothout the i.c.maker?
TIA!

The ice cream maker keeps the mixture cold and also incorporates air into the mix. You can make ice cream without one. Freeze your mixture in ice cube trays. When frozen solid, put it in the blender, scraping down the sides if needed. You may have to put the mixture back in the ice cube trays and then back in the blender a couple of times to get it airy enough.

I make all of mine with the fp. Works fine! Make it, eat it. :)

I usually use my mini chopper since it's quick & easy to clean. Vitamix works well too. Consistency is the main difference between using them.

Thanks guys!
I just made this most awesome, I have died and gone to Heaven, icecream recipe and I CANNOT wait to eat it tomorrow!
Only bad thing is, I made 1/2 the recipe and it's for my son. I could have eaten it before it was frozen, right then and there. YUM!
Oh, I just used my blender, it had a slightly grainy type feel to it, but I liked it that way and think it might be not so hard because of it. We shall see.

I use frozen bananas for my ice cream and I make it in the food processer. I just add whatever flavour I want. It is so easy that way.
