I'm looking at so many recipes that I want to try and so many of them have coconut in them. Either oil, raw coconut, powder etc.

I don't like coconut.

What can I substitute for coconut if anything? If its just oil maybe I can use olive oil, but what about everything else?
Can you really taste coconut flavor in most recipes? Should I just omit it?

Has anyone else had this problem with a coconut adversion?

I really want to make some of these recipes, but I'm scared away by the awful coconut!!!

awwww meancat... coconut is heavenly!!! so sorry you don't like it. I have used some recipes where I have used a little less coconut oil - and the taste of coconut is minimal ... and this weekend - I substitued olve oil in the place of coconut oil -- just to see what the difference was....

well actually the recipe called for olive oil - and I did 1/2 of the recipe with olive oil - and 1/2 with coconut oil - just to see if I could taste the difference.

then I did a taste test with my family - to see which one they liked better... it actually came out half and half - so that didn't answer my question!! :D

all that to say... I think you can substitute olive oil! (unless it's like a thai recipe and the recipe calls for a coconutty flavor!

good luck!!
