View Full Version : Amazing Rebounding Results

I have had a very good quality rebounder for five years now and have never used it on a consistent basis until now. So when I went 100% raw 6 1/2 weeks ago, I started a daily 15 to 30 minute rebounding program as well. I purchased one of Al Carters new books and away I went. Well I will tell you that the results of being raw and rebounding combined are unbelieveable! I actually have a waist now for the first time in years and the cellulite.....is going bye- bye:p I am just tickled about this. I had a really bad spot on my upper thigh and no amount of squats or side leg lifts would touch it.......very discouraging! Well the rebounding has gotten rid of most of it now and I expect the rest of it will vanish as the rest of my weight comes off. I was so worried about my skin sagging with weight loss, but the rebounding is taking care of that. My skin is actually much tighter now. I was also wondering what would become of my saggy baby belly after having three babies. Rebounding came to the rescue for that too:p

has anyone else here had such good results with rebounding? I would love to hear your stories.

That's really inspiring and encouraging, cabosun, and well done.

I've never done rebounding but think I'll go out and have a try on my daughter's trampoline!

Cabosun--what is your routine like?

Cabosun

Go for It, Lily!

SuBu,
I do the gentle bounce or health bounce for about two minutes to warm up. I just gently bounce with my feet never leaving the mat. After I warm up, I just do a good variety of twists, sidekicks, 100 jumping jacks (I use soft one lb weights for these), punches, jabs, jumping and jogging. I guess you might say that I do whatever moves me at the moment:p . I always end with a two minute cool down and then some stretching. I also do some situps and pushups on it three times a week. It's a FUN workout!

I also have had great ~ and FAST ~ results from rebounding. I got the Urban Rebounder so, got the dvd as well. I find I use it more when I use the dvd. If you've got a set of "girls" as I do, might want to wear something to keep them from bouncing too much. Quite uncomfortable for me so I wear two sports bras.

My husband has used a rebounder for years and has become such a believer that he now sells the Needak rebounder. He used it in conjuction with treatment for cancer and is convinced that he had a much better result/healing because of rebounding. The doctor said his results were way beyond the normal and he is doing great . . . still rebounding every day. He is an 18 year cancer survivor and is now doing health consulting with other people that are fighting cancer.

Here is some information that he's written for seminars:

"Rebounding exercises the lymphatic system like no other exercise can, except that of jumping rope. But with rebounding there is far less impact on the joints than there is with jumping rope. The lymphatic fluid travels through the body via a system of what can be likened to "one-way straws", connected by valves, and each jump up-and-down on the rebounder moves the lymph along, causing it to travel through the body as much as 15 to 30 times as efficiently as when the body is at rest. But what is even better than that is that rebounding can cause a state of non-disease-induced neutrophillia, which is an increase in the number of white cells circulating through the body, particularly neutrophils, which are one of the types of white cells most responsible for destroying cancer cells. While gentle bouncing may possibly cause a slight increase in neutrophils, and jogging a little more, by sprinting in place for just one minute on the rebounder you can cause your neutrophil count to double what it normally is, (based on Dr. Arthur C. Guyton's "Textbook of Medical Physiology," Fifth Edition, Page 74, Paragraph 5), and to remain at that level for about an hour! Any middle-aged adult who tried to sprint in place on anything but a rebounder would soon end up with shin splints or some foot, ankle or knee injury.

There is a REAL, SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE between the cheap, Asian-made mini-trampolines that are sold at Sears, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. and the USA-made Rebounder, such as the Needak. The cheap mini-rebounders do NOT have a soft-bounce mat, they stand only 4-6 inches off the ground, and they do not have the necessary 4-inch long springs. For those reasons, you cannot do proper rebounding on a cheap mini-trampoline, and in fact you can hurt your ankles, knees or back. Such cheap models will not avail you of the kind of "lymphasizing" exercise I am talking about.

There are several companies that sell rebounders. My favorite is Needak Rebounders. They've been in business for decades; they're made in the USA; their customer service is outstanding, and they sell a 1/2 fold rebounder that comes with a carrying case so that you can take it wherever you go. For those who have balance problems, they also sell a "stabilizer bar" that bolts securely onto the rebounder that you can hold on to.

Years ago, before I knew about the quality and integrity of Needak, I was using a rebounder I'd bought from another company when two of its springs broke. I called that company, and they gave me a difficult time, and told me they'd send me two replacement springs if I sent them the broken ones, and that shipping both ways would have to be paid by me! I knew about the Needak company but had never done business with them. Just to see what they'd say, I phoned them and told them about the problem I was having with that other company due to the broken springs. The customer service person at Needak immediately offered to send me SIX new springs for free!
Ever since then, I have been a loyal Needak customer. I might add that every time I've had occasion to phone Needak, a LIVE person, not a recording, has answered the phone on the first or second ring. That's hard to find nowadays!"

Sorry this got a little long, but we're believers in rebounding! If anyone is interested in more information about rebounding or getting one at a great price, feel free to PM me. My husband is always happy to answer questions.

I also have found rebounding to be a very effective way to exercise. A post by SharonC changed for the better the way I exercise in that I now incorporate rebounding in my exercise program and really like it !
Here's a link to a thread where I describe the way I exercise now:

Oh Revvell, you just cracked me up over your set of "girls":p I guess I do not have a very big set of "girls", so no problem with that.

Coonlie, the very reason I purchased my rebounder 5 years ago was for my daughter to use when she was diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma. I literally did hundreds of hours of research on curing cancer naturally. My daughter was was 21 at the time and decided to do chemo along with alternatives. her oncologist told her her hair would fall out by the second treatment, but because of my knowledge it never happened! She breezed right through 6 months of chemo and got married with her hair by the 5th month. By her last treatment she was pregnant and nine months later gave birth to her first son who scored perfect on the apgars. She is now expecting baby number 3:) But according to her oncologist, she was not supposed to be able to get pregnant after chemo.
I am a HUGE believer of natural treatments........give the body what it needs and it will just thrive and cure itself.
Thanks for sharing the story about your dh. That is very inspiring for others to read here.

I am so glad that this thread has inspired others to get into rebounding:)

EZ rider........thanks for the link.

Lynne,

Your story about your daughter is fantastic! My husband's diagnosis was non-hodgkin's lymphoma. I'm going to share your story with him. I know he'll be interested. He may even want to contact you to know more about what you did, because he's in contact daily with people who are battling cancer and many of them trying to decided on mainstream vs alternative treatment or a combination of both. May he pm you if he has questions?

Thanks for sharing your story!

I am so excited to see this post! I have been dreaming of getting a rebounder (along witha vitamixer someday! lol ;) )... but Im definitely gettin the rebounder first.

I'm off to check out the needak rebounders - I was planning on getting the urban - but if the needak is portable - i really like that idea!

Thanks for posting how awesome your results have been everyone! it's great inspiration to be able to read this. I have been doing a very grueling walk (when it's not raining)... but I noticed some very sharp pains developing in my left knee as I walk down hill... no pain going up hill -- but down hill... owwieeee.... . I don't want to do any permanet damage or do anything stupid - so I read that morn had been using a rebounder and that's what first got me interested -- since we've all seen her AMAZING RESULTS!! (RAWK ON!!)...

so this is very good news, very exciting info -- thanks again!

Coonlie,

Your husband may pm me anytime for information. I have made it a mission in my life too, to help others learn about alternatives to help cure their cancer. That is my main reason for attending The Blue Heron Academy of healing Arts and Science.

I have the ReBound Air and it folds in half as well and fits in a carrying case. In fact, I will be taking it to MIL's house in Pittsburgh over the holiday. that baby has to go on all of my trips from now on:)

I *love* my rebounder -- when I use it. If I feel really bad, it's amazing how 15- 20 minutes on my rebounder does wonders to make me feel better.

I don't have a fancy unit. Just one of those from Wal-Mart. It still works wonders for me -- ummmm... when I use it.

I'm new to this forum and raw food. Am looking forward to the results of the RF AND rebounding on a consistant basis.

Thanks for a great list of rebounding benefits. Rebounding truly is an exercise marvel. There are lots of good things for the body on that list but if I were to pick out one item that I appreciate most it would be #9 as moving the lymph is so important to detoxing the body. In addition to the list I also appreciate that my rebounder is convenient to use 24/7 regardless of the weather conditions outside and the time of the day or night. Thanks for your post :)

If you don't have a rebounder just do some running and jump over obsticles. I find trailrunning is a great activity which can involve jumping. It's such a natural high and energy booster. You could also try jumping rope.

Thank you to all for your inspiring testimonials.

I know that rebounding is great, but never did much with my rebounder. The children love to play on it. It's now time to "reclaim" it. I do need to come up with a solution for "my girls". Perhaps lots of ace bandage wrapping.....

As for the Needak vs the Urban rebounder ~
The Urban is a good rebounder as well, but it is Asian made and has cheaper parts than the Needak and does not have the warranty that Needak offers. The Needak is US made, has a lifetime warranty on the frame and has excellent customer service. It is a very sturdy piece of exercise equipment. Maybe call Needak and ask for the comparison stats.

If you're interested in getting a Needak, though, my husband can get you a much better price than if you buy it directly from Needak. You don't even have to contact me, if you don't want to. You can just give them the code number "68754" when you call them and you will get the discounted price.
I hope I'm not violating any policy of the board by posting that - I just don't want anyone to have to pay full price for the Needak rebounder. They are worth the extra money, over the cheaper models, but why pay full price if you don't have to? :o

Well, I was right! I had to drag myself out of bed this morning after my second go on the rebounder last night. I couldn't really jump (as in jumping jacks) as it made my knee hurt but I worked up a sweat anyway. I was pretty sore today, so I spent 20 min. on my Chi machine and worked out on the weight machine. I'm definitely going to give it a go again this evening. I love my rebounder and I'm really going to put it to use. Thanks for all the great info here. Can I get an idea of how pricey the Needak is?

To get a good workout using my rebounder I find it helps to have the right music playing at the volume I want. For this I like something like Govi, which is new age instrumental with a moderate beat. Also I like to put a video on the TV (sound off) that has movement in it. For this I like to use some video tapes made for stationary bicycling of various scenic spots. I don't necessarily watch the TV but I tend to watch it in the rebounder part of my workout when I am jogging on the rebounder.

ABOUT REBOUNDING AND ITS BENEFITS (Please read carefully)

Interestingly, among many meanings of “rebounding” we can underscore starting something, recoiling…reviving.

The ancient Egyptian mythology would talk about Phoenix, the bird that “arises” from the ashes; “Feng Huang” among the ancient Chinese. Yes, reviving, coming back to life and in our specific case, seeing our body being stimulated, revitalized, and energized with this agility that we though lost for ever.

Nowadays, thanks to Healthy Hearts Rebounding with easy and simple exercises you can pace yourself to a great shape enjoying the process.

Why is rebounding so beneficial? Rebounding on a mini-trampoline affects every organ and is directly related to the efficiency of the lymphatic system and the immune function. The lymphatic system is a defense mechanism against infection, viruses, bacteria and disease. It is comprised of fluid, vessels and ducts. Provided the lymphatic system is functioning at its peak, it clears toxins we absorb from our environment, wastes and infection from all tissues of the body through proper flow and drainage. Bouncing on a mini-trampoline offers many benefits to one's lymphatic system and overall health. Let's examine those:

Toxins collector: the lymphatic system is connected to every organ in the body, but its function is completely different from that of the cardiovascular system. The lymphatic system is the "toxins collector", sucking up metabolic garbage, and toxins from the extra cellular fluid of every organ. If this flow is impaired, the fluid becomes thick and toxic.

The cells which rely on the lymphatic system for elimination become less efficient and sluggish as they fill with their own waste. The lymphatic system - which in a healthy person is a life-sustaining system - now becomes a breeding ground for infection. When the fluid enters the bloodstream, which is part of the normal process, infection can now spread to any organ in the body. Many viruses, bacteria and parasites stay locked within the lymphatic system when it is in a sluggish state. The result: degenerative disease and an increase in the rate of aging. Moving your lymph to help detoxify the body

The lymphatic system is not connected to the heart, therefore it has to rely on some other activity to create the necessary "pumping action" it needs to circulate. The most important ways of increasing lymphatic circulation are:

1) Massage and

2) Vigorous exercise

The lymphatic system is filled with millions of one-way valves, which allows the lymph fluid to flow in only one direction - usually upward away from gravity.

Almost anything which can stimulate the movement of lymph fluid inside the lymph vessels is beneficial, but the most efficient way to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid is by REBOUNDING on iREBOUND. The up and down rhythmic bouncing causes all of the one-way valves to open and close simultaneously, increasing lymph flow as much as 15 times. Rebounding is a highly beneficial form of exercise.

Let's talk about the eliminative organs, such as the bowels, kidneys, lungs, lymph system, or skin, for example. When a foreign substance is present, the body’s first reflex is to expel or eliminate it. When this elimination is suppressed by any means such as taking pharmaceutical drugs, for example, some of the foreign matter gets pushed back into the system. As elimination is blocked, the very substances the body is trying to eliminate become stored within the body, causing any number of disease symptoms. The body then becomes toxic. When this happens, the degenerative disease process begins.

Symptoms of a congested lymphatic system

Many people have badly congested lymphatic and don’t even know it. At this time in our country the lymphatic system is the most over-looked system of the human body. In Europe stimulation of the lymph flow is the fourth most commonly prescribed medical treatment. Most U. S. health care practitioners seldom consider the lymphatic system’s critical role in preventing illness or its importance to the over all healing process. Some of the organs that are part of the lymphatic system are lymph nodes and lymph veins, the tonsils, adenoids, appendix and the spleen and you know what happens to those parts of the body whenever surgeons get close to them. Swollen glands, with which most of us are familiar, are symptomatic of blocked lymph nodes, which indicate a breakdown in the mechanical functioning of the lymphatic system. Other examples of congested lymphatics are:

Allergies Chronic Sinusitis Heart disease Eczema & other skin conditions Loss of Energy Fibrocystic disease Chronic fatigue Repetitive parasitic infections Edema Inflammation High blood pressure Viral infections Puffy eyes Bacterial infections Low back pain Loss of Energy Ear or balance problems Arthritis Headaches Cellulite Excessive sweating Obesity

Hello again i seem to be writing to myself and so I guess this thread is closed lol

I sent you and e-mail which I do hope you got. I couldnt afford the rebounder because they haven't reduced the Canadian prices now that our doller is equalized, where as other companies have. So I guess I am stuck with the one I have got and will hope that it is descent enough to startvwith .Paying over $360 may be worth it but notif it gathers dust in my basement lol

Yeshia,
I'm sorry but I did not get your email. Would you mind resending it as a PM through this site? Maybe that will come through. I sure didn't mean to ignore you but just saw your message this minute.
Thanks!

I've always wanted to try rebounding but I"m afraid I'd fall off and break something!

That's such a wee place to jump around on?

:p

Coonlie,
I was given a rebounder. I have no idea the brand. I am wondering if the stabilizer bar would fit - kinda a "one size fits all" bar? I'm a klutz so I stick with plain ol' bouncing to music... Maybe a bar/video would help me be more adventurous!

Nini, I would suggest giving Needak a call and asking them. They would know about the adaptability to other brands. Their toll-free customer service number is 800-232-5762. They're very helpful and great to talk to on the phone. If you you decide to order one, check and see if giving them the code number "68754" will allow you a discount on the stabilizer bar, even if buying it only.

RowanC, I had the same thoughts at first about the jumping surface, but really, when you get on, it is plenty of space. If you feel at all insecure, get the stabilizer bar and all your fears will be alleviated! ;)

I love to rebound, but I don't do it very long because I get bored. Maybe a dvd would help. Can someone recommend one, preferably one that's on the gentle side?

Would they ship to Canada? Can you let us know the cost with the discount? & what is the maximum weight it can handle? Does it come in more than one size?
Sorry for so many questions, & it's not that I can afford one right this minute anyways...but maybe soon?
I can dream, right?

If you don't have a rebounder just do some running and jump over obsticles. I find trailrunning is a great activity which can involve jumping. It's such a natural high and energy booster. You could also try jumping rope.

Jumping rope is a great idea but it takes a while to get started. Have to dig up mine and start on it.

I love bouncing! I have been doing it about 4-5 times a week for about 15-25 min. at a time. It makes me very so alive! I do it with 3 lb dumbbells (bicep curls, side laterals, shoulder presses, etc...)

I've been reading these blogs and after watching the video on HSN I decided to get moving. I had two surgeries on my abdomen in a little over a year, so now I have to find a way to get it back in shape. I can't do any exercise like stomach crunches or sit ups because my last surgery was a few months ago and my abdomen is numb. I think this will be my answer. Can't wait to get it and get started.

.

I have been using a cheap twenty dollar rebounder from my local sporting goods store for over a year - pretty regularly. Aside from the initial soreness of the first few sessions, I have not had any aches, pains or complaints at all. It seems to work great!

Would I really have much better health results with an expensive name brand model??

I would buy a high quality rebounder if I thought so, as the cheap one I currently use gets alot of miles!! :D

Thanks for the inspiration, all :)

BTW, exercise equipment is something that a lot of people buy and then don't use, so you can get it secondhand a lot of times. I'd keep an eye out on ebay and craigslist for deals on the high end models.
