We have a spirooli, the second pic. Works great, we love it :)

It comes with three blade attachments, small and med/large sized noodles and one for just slicing. It's very easy to use and you don't need to apply much pressure to get things moving, and it has a suctioned bottom for stability. Simple to clean and store.

I have thought about purchasing a saladacco as well (the first pic), just for variety in products. It looks like it may be able to produce tinee-tiny sized noodles. Don't know how good it is, tho.

I have the one in the first pic (bought from Alissa's site) and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. It works great, no fuss, super easy to clean. So far my favorite things to do with it are golden beets, carrot, and daikon. I can't speak for the other one but I'm sure it's great, too, so...seems like a win-win for whatever one you choose! It makes lovely super thin "angel hair".

I've used both and love them. The first one is great because it contains the product but the second one is really useful too, I use a plastic flexi board under it and I have no issues. Happy shopping!

Go for the second photo. I have the one in the first photo (a Canadian version of it) and it works and all but it only does really thin noodles or slices and I wish I could vary the noodle size. Also one day it gave me real hassles with squash but overall works well. I just think for quality I'd go for the second photo and I'm planning on getting a better one myself.

thanks everyone for your thoughts!

spiralgirl: I was going to get the second one but turns out I can only buy the first one over here in NZ after all so I will have to wait till I venture to your side of the world to get it:D

Well the first one does work well. I don't think we have Spirooli here where I am but sure I saw something very similar in a kitchen store in town so will scout it out and see what I can find. Read that the first one (well the one I have) does angel hair type noodles which mine does and I want thicker noodles like I see in some of the Raw books.

the second one is definitely the one to go for. I struggled with the first type for a year and could never get it to work properly. The second one is a dream -- I love it and it's actually fun to use.

Hi,

I have two products from Lurch AG and I love them, the smaller one makes the thin pasta, the bigger one the thicker pasta and both have plain metal blades for linguine and "flower" shapes.

One is the Lurch Turning Slicer http://www.lurch-shop.com/D/ProductFrames.asp?SessionId=15706E3858E7455B96AF1A 71D9C9C25B&adilang=E&KatID=6&ArtNr=00010303

the other one is the Lurch Spiral Cutter "Spiraloo"

Unfortunately I couldn't figure whether they ship to NZ but here are the contact details, you may ask them.

Good luck!

I bought the first one from Alissa's site and the second one from Target online. I use the first one for angel hair 'pasta', but sometimes I want a spaghetti type of noodle, so I use the second one. I find the spirooli (second one) easier to use. It has 3 or 4 blades, but I've only used the slicer (thin slices) and the spaghetti sized blade.

I was wondering how they really worked. I haven't seen one in person. How many different names are the under? Does the second one work like the apple/corer/peeler/ slicer? I saw a TV chef, make long/lenth of a zuccini, continuous lazagne noodle out of a zuccini with a piece I have been looking for, is that it?

Well I just got mine and made raw pasta yay! I think they can be called a spiral slicer a saladacco and a spiralizer.. there could be more names though. I have the first one and I put zucchini in it and it made one huge long spiral pasta. It also does skinny noodles when I flick the lever but I haven't mastered that yet. Hope that helps:)

I got both and use them both. To do zucchini pasta, i prefer using the second picture, because it is less watery and since the zucchini is a soft vegetable, it comes up better with the second one and less hard on the arms to use.

With the first one, it makes like angel hair pasta. I like this one to use with harder vegetables, which the size of angel hair noddle is perfect.

I say get them both.

Will someone tell me if the prepared product really tastes like spaghetti or noodles? Thanks in advance.

The closest you're going to get to that texture, in my opinion, is to locate Sea Tangle kelp noodles, make the sauce of your choice and put it in the dehydrator or soften at room temp. Comfort food!

I have one like the first one, think I got it from Alissa a year ago but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway it does the job, just a little flimsy feeling. I like heavy duty tools for whatever reason.

Anyway enjoy which every you purchase:)

Stina, Thanks for the tip. I checked out a local organic grocer for Sea Tangle Kelp Noodles but they don't carry it. Where did you buy it? At Whole Foods? Is it all raw? Joyce
