My daughter and I both experience these from time to time. Last night my daughter had one that had her in tears for about 20 minutes. I'm assuming that it has to do with food combining, but now I'm not sure as I am not sure what she ate that would have caused this.

After having apples during the day, she had a mudslide (pecans, water, bananas and dates), an avocado (with lemon juice and sea salt) and then later in the evening a date/nut torte (walnuts, raisens, dates and lemon juice). She may have had another apple in there somewhere.

Would anything is this have caused the stomach ache that was produced about 2 hours later? I also have them on occasion and sitting or laying down and resting for about a 1/2 hour seems to be the best remedy (hard to do when one is in front of a classroom of kids teaching them Spanish!).

Any thoughts on how to prevent these? Is it from food combining? If so, what were the offending ingredients last night?

No feedback here but wondering if coconut water has ever given anyone a stomach ache. It seems to be the only element but isn't it a gentle ingredient?

From a food combining perspective some people might have trouble digesting the banana with the other things you mentioned. Try putting the banana in with other fruits and see if that helps.

It could have just been from poor food combining...all the nuts and fruit might have been difficult to digest together?

My experience has been one of nervous stomach. Also, I used to get them around the same time almost every night. Traced it back to a phone call we used to get every night from my Dad. Very interesting work that was. My daughter had stomach aches for a very long time too. Contributed it to growing pains. Could never link it to food or water or stress. But then again, sometimes the body is under stresses that we don't even realize at the time. Try belly breathing. Stopping the breath into the belly will make it worse. Good Luck

I get gassy & crampy sometimes if I combine fruits (especially dried) with nuts. It happens much less if I have soaked the nuts first.
The other night I had terrible stomach pain that had me crying until i was really sick & I think it was due to my digestive system not being able to cope with the raw spinach & kale I had used as a base for a salad.

The date nut torte is NOT properly food combined (it's so good, though, isn't it!?).

Otherwise, I will share my experience in case it is helpful to you.

I have to be careful about stress and food. I actually came to raw because I had such horrid stomach aches ALL THE TIME, and I get much less severe belly aches here and there if I blatantly very poorly food combine and overeat. (Although.... generally.... raw has rocked my world and the stomach aches are all but gone all the time!)

It might be worth carefully following the food combining if you have similar problems.

Other things that have really helped for me:

-Parsley (a decent amount) after food
-Peppermint tea after food (either raw sun tea or hot herbal tea)
-Alissa's digestive enzymes (they're pricey, but they do work...)
-a 15-minute walk after I eat
-regular, light exercise
-having lighter meals in the morning to kick start my digestive system
-waiting until I actually get a hunger signal rather than eating to be eating

If it's already bad, sometimes it's just gas ()... A good way to push that through is to lay on your back and bring your knees to your chest over and over.

I hope that helps for you. :)
