And all I can say is WOW. Just WOW. I sectioned it and let it soak in cold water for 5 minutes...they I released all of the seeds underwater...strained them and ate them.

Yum! :)

wow, congratulations. These are without a doubt my favorite fruit. I find them so mysterious, beautiful and delicious. Removing the seeds with my bare hands reminds me so eloquently that it is exactly the way I am meant to eat.

Yumbo ! After I cut the pom in half I use a sharp pointed paring knife to coax the seeds out and then scoop them up with a spoon.

I like the Pomegrante juice, but I don't like the woody part within the seed. I end up chewing the juice out and spitting the woody leftover out. Am I weird?

I got one today. Do you eat the outer skin too or just the seeds?

Is it me or do they taste a little bitter?

';m eating my first one as I type this. it makes a WONDERFUL breakfast and in my SAD days I used to eat Popcorn by the ton. I find this similar to it, in the way that you eat it and the crunchiness too.

OK. I have had pomegranite once and not knowing how to get the seeds out, ended up using a knife tip to pry them out. I love the taste, but is there any easier way to get the seeds out? The little buggers stain your clothes too. Holding the halves under water sounds like it would be easier.

I just had my first one on Sunday also. It was so good, but I had an AWEFUL experience!
It plummeted my blood sugar! I was hypoglycemic growing up, but don't really have trouble like that anymore. Took me by surprise and it took 3 full glasses of straight orange juice to get me functioning again. Very scarey!
Bummer too, because I loved the juicy sweet/tart goodness.

I love them too, they bring back sweet childhood memories because we always had them around Christmas. One of my favorites, even better than candy and says a lot for a little girl with a sweet tooth!

I think I'll pick one up today, I could use those good memories today!

My son and I love pomegranates so much that every season we buy heaps of them when they are a nice deep red and sweet and tangy at the same time. Then we extraxt the seeds and put them in a strainer and push them with the back of a spoon until the juice is strained off and all you have left is a deep red juice without the seeds.

We store the juice (we'll what we can bring oursleves not to snaffle up right then and there) in ice block trays in the freezer and use it to colour juices or ice creams or on it's own etc.

Truly one of the best fruits ever, but the season is so short!

I'm hooked. Deseeding a pom rates right up there with bubble-wrap!

I had some today, really liked it! And ya deseeding it is really fun. I couldn't believe how pretty the seeds are. Beautiful little garnets!

But yeah the taste is great. Crunchy yet watery, sweet yet sour. Very cool.

yes yes you guys are all on the same page as me, the seeds are like little gemstones. I feel like a giant who lives on shiny rubies, opening up the magical fruit. omigosh they make me so happy!

Here's a picture of me about to open three for a big community bowl at my grandparents' house. My cousins from Brazil said that they've never seen someone who likes pomegranates so much as me LOL.

ON another note: my uncle said that he thought they were the "food of Satan" and wouldn't touch them. LMAO. BUT I said: well ya know there is that greek myth about Persephone and Hades, the lord of the underworld!

Persephone is the daughter of Demeter, goddess of the Harvest. Hades must spend his time in the underworld, watching over the dead, rather than on mount Olympus, but one day sees Persephone in a field and takes a liking to her. He wants to make her his bride and takes her down to the underworld with him. She does not wish to do so, but is stuck for the time being.

He offers her twelve pomegranate seeds, and she eats six of them!

In the meantime, Demeter is devastated that she has lost her daughter, and in her sadness Greece falls into a deep winter.

When they finally find Persephone, Demeter demands she be returned to Olympus. BUT being that she has eaten the food of the underworld, she cannot leave! Zeus, king of the gods, decides as a comprimise that she must spend six out of twelve months in the underworld, because she ate half of Hades' offerings.

That is why during the time when Persephone is allowed to leave the underworld it is spring and summer, and the harvest is bountiful as Demeter is happy to be with her daughter. But when Persephone must return to Hades' side, Demeter is depressed and the land runs cold and barren.

A myth about the changing of the seasons which revolves around POMEGRANATE seeds!

(I think that's how it goes more or less, hope you found it enjoyable)

Haha!

Yeah, but she only eats 6 of them, enough to damn her to 6 months in hades each year.

I'm damned for several lifestimes methinks.

Nice pic BTW!

They are great tasting and provide ample amount of juice - rather messing in the preperation. Still they do taste awesome:D
I've had 2 gallons of it during my juice and water fast:)
