Are seeds okay? I like to use sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds, soaked for a few hours and food processed with carrots and celery, maybe onion and jalapeno or some other spicy pepper. you can throw some braggs aminos, nama shoyu or just plain water is FINE to get it going. Dulse gives it an interesting, almost fishy taste if that's what you like.
Add the seasonings you want as well. I sometimes like to curry it. The beauty of things like this is you should experiment until you find ratios you like. Herbs, dried or fresh give it a nice punch too. I'm thinking oregano, or basil. I don't really have a recipe as it's rare I measure anything.
lol I keep remembering things: You can cut up a nori sheet into quarters, make handrolls out of them and put that mix inside along with bell pepper and cucumber and dip it in some blended sauce. my GOD I'm giving myself an appetite.

I find mushrooms help to bind the ingredients together when I use less nuts in my burgers.

I use mushrooms and sprouted sunflower seeds more than nuts if I can in a recipe. How about sprouted or soaked oats?
