is carob powder supposed to smell?

I just got 2 pounds of carob powder from alissa's store and I opened the bag to transfer it into a container and it smells like sourish. Is that normal?

Ya. Its gross.. personally I dislike carob. I gave it to my dog grooming girl friend to make dog treats with.
