Hello everyone,
I am new here and I am thinking about going raw, BUT I have a question. I have been on a gluten, soy, dairy and nut free diet for about 6-7 months. I have all kinds of health problems (long story...) so that is why I have taken out the foods I have taken out.

Not too long ago I reacted to a granola. It is possible that the sulfites in the dried fruit from the granola is what I reacted to, but it is also likely that it was the traces of nuts (I picked them out). My question is...is it possible to go raw with a nut allergy? What would I eat??

Thank you!
Kassandra

Lots and lots of delicious raw fruits and veggies, smoothies, etc. There's no need to hesitate. Nuts and dried fruits are just a fraction of this lifestyle. Wishing you the best.

Beautiful ~ beautiful greens, and veggies of every color...!!! Fruit the color of the rainbow!

you can make spring roll wraps from young coconut meat .... fill them with vibrant veggies and it's delicious!!! (make a spicy dipping sauce with garlic, lime, ginger, agave, serrano chili, dash of nama shoyu or tamari sauce.... yummmm!!! )

you will never run out of things to eat!!! I used to eat a lot of nut based foods when I first went raw.... lately -- I haven't had any nut based dishes in almost 2 months! :D

oh - no wait that's not true --- I am eating the snowdrops raw ranch dressing and that does have cashews in it... but there's always goddess dressing - no nuts, or vinegar and oil with a dash of nama shoyu for dressing.... it can certainly be done!!!

good luck!

oh - there's also alissa's marinara sauce with zucchini angel hair pasta.... you can easily tweak the pesto recipe too to leave out any nuts and it's FABULOUS!! I DO THAT ALL THE TIME! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/Smileyyes.gif

I don't eat any nuts. I find that raw seeds, like sunflower seeds, can be substituted for nuts in recipes with no problem. As for the sulfites in dried fruit if you take control of the process and dehydrate yourself you can control not only things like sulfites but also you can control the temperature so that you don't cook the life out of the foods. Happy journey.
