to recieve the same texture? Say I was to put all the ingredients into a big bowl and spend an hour mixing, sturring, grinding it with my utensils from the kitchen- would I get the same or similar consistency of a food processor, only be spending more time on it? I cant imagine that none of this food that "requires a food processor was unachievable before a man made machine? Also, how about ice cream.. how can I make raw ice cream w/out a machine. I will invest in one asap but for now does it really work when you put the ingredients into ice trays, freeze, then later blend? If anyone knows these things please let me know! Im trying to make due! THANKS SO MUCHHHH!!!!

No, you can't get the same texture as with a food processor. You can get a really inexpensive one for under $40 ... or, I got mine from the thrift store.

Someone already answered your question about ice cream that you posted in a different thread. Plus there were other responses.

Check back there.

I have a small food processor that was about $20 new and it has been a lifesaver not only doing the ice creams but also when i need to chop tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc.... that way i get to spend more time eating and less time preparing :)

it's made by cuisinart and is good quality.

Wow, sounds great! I have mango sitting on the counter right now, and some bananas in the freezer. Can't wait.

Oh and where did they reply about making ice cream? I dont see it.. thanxLittle Bunny -- see the banana at the top of the page where it says "SEARCH"? If you use the search tool, you'll find a number of threads that tell how to make ice cream. Also, since you're new and probably have lots of questions, you can use it to search and read, search and read .... voila, you'll learn so much!! And, has anyone mentioned reading the journals? That's another great source of information, Plus, you'll feel like you know these people and their struggles will make you feel less alone.

You can certainly buy all the appliances that you need, or you can just chop chop chop away. There are many gadgets to help too, one costs about $10 and is a food chopper, looks like a jar of mayo with a plunger on top, and you just put food in there and chop away. I use it for olives, nuts stuff like that.

But there is no reason you need to make all the fancy stuff either, it's just nice to have more familiar foods once in a while.
