Today I was making pancakes for my husband and me (Im really knew to Raw and am interested; just taking it slow because I am 20 weeks pregnant and dont want to jolt my system to fast). But anyway I was making the pancakes and thinking Im sure I could make Raw pancakes. I was trying to think of what things to use. Then I started thinking about what to put on them and I was getting really excited. I was just curious if anyone else has made Raw pancakes and what can be used on top? Id appreciate any info.

ah i still want to make the pancake recipe from Ani Phyo's book - it looks good! I don't remember the recipe now, but i know she simply put berries and syrups on top (syrup would be like.. dates+water+cacao/carob or dates+water+orange)

If you want the recipe, I have the book - if it's allowed I'll copy it over.

subbacultcha- often people post recipes and give credit or, if you are more comfortable, they have folks email them to get said recipe
the Maraw pancakes are very, very delicioco. I gave them to my healthy but not raw young children and they loved them. I still gave them maple syrup to dip in though they are plent sweet. Eachpeachpearplum put blueberries on hers, I did this also and they are sososososososososososososso good!!!

Right here's the recipe from Raw Food Real World (by Sarma Melngailis and Matthew Kenney...
Apple crepes - with apple walnut filling and cinnamon maple cream.
Serves 4
For the crepes:
3 cups coconut meat
1+1/2 cups chopped apple
1/2-1 cup water
1+1/3 cup ground golden flaxseed (1 cup whole)
3 tbsp agave
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp sea salt
1. Blend coconut meat with apple, adding water to make it smooth.Mixture should be thick like custard. Add remaining ingredients and stir thoroughly.
2. Divide batter between 3 14-inch teflex-lined dehydrator trays. Spread to about 1/6 inch thick. Dehydrate for 6-8hours then flip them over and deydrate for another hour or two.
3. Slide crepes onto a flat cutting surface and using a circle cutter (or trace around a plate with a knife), cut circles approx 4 inches in diameter.
For filling:
4 cups cubed apple
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup raisins
3 tbsp maple syrup*
3 tablespoons lemon juice (depending on sweetness of apples)
1/2 tsp grated lemon zest
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp sea salt
Toss ingredients together and dehydrate to an hour or so until apples are softened slightly.
For maple cream:
1/2 cup cashews, soaked 2 hours or more
1/2 cup coconut meat
1/2 cup maple syrup*
2 tbsp coconut butter
1/4 cup filtered water
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp sea salt
Blend thoroughly and refrigerate if not using right away.
Assembly:
Maple syrup* (optional)
fresh mint (optional)
Fill each crepe with filling and fold. serve with maple cream, drizzle with maple syrup and garnish with mint if desired.
*can be substituted with agave or honey as it is not truly raw
Enjoy x

My favorite is Alissa's which is made of only bananas, blended and dehydrated like a fruit leather, with the filling that goes with them you can easily get 1000 calories from 3 small pancakes, it's by far my favorite pancake recipe.

I love making pancakes this way, too, although I didn't realize I was eating so many calories! Eeegaads! Thanks for the heads up.

I suppose I won't be making the "roll ups" too often as I need a low calorie fix. I suppose something with zucchini may do me well?? We need to find low calorie pancake. Anyone game to try one and post results? You needed another project and perhaps I just answered your prayers and mine too.

Calories don't count at all when the food you're eating is raw and natural, eat as much as you want.

carolg, I really don't understand you you keep wanting to count and lower calories and fat... they don't count at all when it's raw and natural... I lost 40 lbs, which I didn't want to loose, by eating as many high calorie foods as possible.
By the way, 95% of the calories from Alissa's pancakes are from the filling, not the pancakes themselves, but again, there is no need to count/lower calories on raw and I don't understand why you're doing this, if it's to loose weight, it's not going to work, you'll just starve yourself. Are you 100% raw? If not, going 100% will help 1000 times more than counting calories and fat.

Raweater,
I'm not really counting calories or fat, but love eating raw to the max. I eat most days 100% and others maybe 98-99.999%--all these are choices. I can easily bump up to 100% if I wanted to at any given moment. Thanks for always sharing.
I see you achieved your weight gain goal and now moving another to another gain goal. Proud of you. Thanks.

Pturski, read those recipes that were posted and you'll see that they are all dehydrated. They heat up to 115 degrees, which is a perfect temp to eat them (or eat them cold). If you stick them in the dehydrator in the evening, and flip them first thing when you get up in the morning, you'll have fresh pancakes by the time you sit down to breakfast.

You can make jut about anything without cooking, it just requiers different ingredients and preparation. My favorite raw pancakes are Alissa's which is simply blended bananas dehydrated into soft pancakes.

Yum. I can't imagine pancake batter getting better than bananas with peaches or even apples. I made some "fruit rolls" and it was fabulous.
