.... on my raw journey
Hello all! Heres my question summed up as much as possible, as I am a BIG talker. :)
I have come a very long way from my bad, old eating habits, and my body has been threw a lot in the process. I am more than ready to take this on, and see how this is the answer very clearly now. I am really excited to get started on my raw food journey, but am afraid it will be hard. You see, I have a love for cooking, baking, etc and am really excited to experiment with all the different recipe possibilities but my dad currently has no money to invest right now. We just have tons of junk, and I dont want to wait another day to change! I want to use this determination now! I know each day will get easier. Im afraid that if I dont have lots of options as far as meals go (desserts, meals, snacks, recipes) then I will fail and plunge right back into junk. I really dont want to fail because I want to prove to so many people how great this really is, and how it truly is the answer-- but by example of course. :) So does anyone have any suggestions as far as cheap recipes but equally yummy with only a blender and juicer.. I can subsitute all the way! How do I make ice cream without an ice cream machine? etc.. How do I get the most out of my meals without ALL the groceries I COULD buy just to "try". What are the basic essentials? Thanks so much everyone!

I am really excited to get started on my raw food journey, but am afraid it will be hard. No, it is not too hard - just plan
You see, I have a love for cooking, baking, etc and am really excited to experiment with all the different recipe possibilitiesI do not understand - invest in you starting a business. Take you time, with the right intentions , what you desire is available but my dad currently has no money to invest right now. We just have tons of junk, and I dont want to wait another day to change! I want to use this determination now! I know each day will get easier. I really dont want to fail because I want to prove to so many people how great this really is, and how it truly is the answer-- but by example of course. :) As you grow, you will see you do not have to prove it; you will just be a walking picture, full of joy, peace, and promise So does anyone have any suggestions as far as cheap recipes but equally yummy with only a blender and juicer.search here under the banana and type in blender; also we have a recipe for butter pecan ice cream - make it in the food processor - it is the best!!! . I can subsitute all the way! How do I make ice cream without an ice cream machine? etc.. How do I get the most out of my meals without ALL the groceries I COULD buy just to "try". Also, get Alissa's book because it will answer every single one of your questions.
And -- you state that you're afraid it will be hard. Well, yes. It will be hard. Most anything that's worth achieving is hard at least some of the time. You will be undoing and unlearning life-long habits that the majority of Americans believe are normal.
But -- many of us have done it, and you can, too. Just do yourself a favor and educate yourself as much as possible. Like SweetLips says, use the search function here and prepare to read, read, read. And (I can't stress this enough) read Alissa's book.
Welcome.

No, actually, you don't have to go through trial and error. Eating raw has been a lifestyle for long enough now that there are lots of books, videos, and resources so that you don't have to puzzle it out for yourself.
As far as expense, it's actually much cheaper than eating the SAD. Produce, even organic, is not as expensive as meat or processed foods.
Of course, the cheapest is to eat very simply by not preparing "raw gourmet" recipes. You won't need the ingredients like oil and Nama Shoyu and stuff that does cost.

Well, the good news first, it can be easy to make delicious smoothies with a blender, using the fresh produce that is in season. If you are on a budget, the more in season the fruit/veggies are, the cheaper they are. I always like to make my breakfast with 2 squeezed oranges (but they can be peeled and then just thrown in the blender) 1 squeezed lemon, 1 banana, and a large handful of spinach or parsley or cilantro.
Another inexpensive item is sunflower seeds. Try soaking them overnight, drain and either make nut milk (throw them in a blender, add water and blend. Strain through a tea strainer. Then with the milk, place back in blender and add a banana) or sprout the seeds and then throw them in your salads.
Now, some bad news: This will most likely be difficult to get yourself off cooked food. The best advice is to always think about why you are doing this, and reading all the posts from others and continue with your questions and comments. After 8 months, I can say that I don't crave cooked food anymore. That is not to say, that some day I won't have a cooked meal at my mother's house, but I am saying that I just don't desire the cooked food.
Blessings.
