Morning Rawbies! :D So yesterday was the start of my second week and I weighed myself. I lost 12.3lbs but is that too much to lose in one week? I realize that I have alot to lose and that may explain the high amount of weight loss, but even if it is first week water loss, is it too much?
Here is what I typically eat in a day: 2 cups of mixed berries, a pomegranate, a persimion or two, a salad with sunflower seeds, dried gogi berries, tomatoes and dressing, some nuts, a grapefuit and an apple.
Should I be eating more because I am really not hungry? I think I am starting to get paranoid, but I am a worrywort. :o

Opinion: If anything...keep your fat measured.......and your calorie intake AS high or HIGHER than you might have had on a poor diet.....until you get your feet wet. I believe that most medical professionals would deem a regular weight loss of 6 lbs per week to be not optimal. Probably more like 1-2 lb per week weight loss is much more reasonable.

It depends on what your diet was like before - if you're eating a lot less carbohydrates than you were before you'll have lost a lot of water weight.
I'm no expert, but to me it sounds like you're getting adequate nutrition, so I wouldn't worry.

When I first went raw, that's how it went.
I wouldn't worry. How do you feel?
So long as you aren't feeling sick or lightheaded all the time, I think you're doing fine. You'll crave what your body needs, it'll let you know..
That's my experience, anyway.

Hi Curly, no don't worry at all. You're eating enough. My mom lost about 10 the first week. And she's been steadily losing since then, but not at much. Your body will regulate. Everyone loses a different amount, everyone is different. Just enjoy you are doing GREAT!!! Just listen to what your body is telling you.

It is not medically possible to lose more than 1-2 lbs of fat per week. Anything else is just water. As you go along with raw, you will see fluctuations of anywhere from 1-5 lbs a week (up and down) and again it is water distribution. Just eat when you are hungry, drink lots of water and keep it raw.

Eat raw... eat healthy and don't worry -- beppa is right!!
Remember -- this is an adventure .. a wonderful journey. Your body will make lots of adjustments... some weeks you'll lose alot - others hardly anything at all...
let your body find it's balance. Don't worry about too much of this or that... eat lots of greens... beautiful fruit - a few nuts, avos, drink lots of water....
and enjoy the fact that you are giving your body everything it needs to heal, rebuild and develop into the beautiful creation that you are!!
RAWK ON!! YOU'RE DOIN GREAT.... CELEBRATE IT!!!

Lots of kooky stuff can happen in the first week. Keep an eye on it for a couple weeks.

When a person first starts a new way of eating or if they diet, they always lose water weight first. After that the weight loss will slow to several pounds each week, something like that and not 10 or 12lbs.
