I asked this on another thread but noone answered me. I bought a nesco dehydrator from walmart and it is 500 watts. How can i translate that to know how many degrees i am cooking my food at? I dont want to overcook the enzymes in my food. Any help would be appreciated.

gosh  ... the only thing I can think of is http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/thinking.gif ... maybe get an oven thermometer and put it inside the dehydrator and see what it registers. That would probably give you the most accurate answer http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/Smileyyes.gif .

good luck! :D

Never mind i called the buisness and they told me. If anyone would like to buy it you can email me at pisces031986@yahoo.com. Ive never used it before and the degree temp is too high for me.

FYI: Nesco does make a dehydrator with temp control, if you are still interested. I purchased mine at walmart for around $30-40. I've heard the excaliber is better, but I don't dehydrate enough to make it worth my while.
Good luck to you:O)

Never heard the term "BAD" before. Interesting.

I'm guessing "if it's not raw food, it's bad food"!

I just checked out the blog and "bad" stands for Black American Diet

Tip: Remember the 'no temperature' method of dehydrating. Buy 3 or 4 of those cheap paper AC air filters. Drop your food between the slats and bungee the filters together. Strap the lot to a cheap box fan.....turn on medium/high and air-dry for 24-48 hours! Easy and nice n' cool......(thanks for the tip Good Eats.....although it was meant for Beef Jerky! LOL).
