Ever since going all raw on Aug 1st my food preferences have been changing steadily to a more and more simplified menu. It started with my fresh made juices where I used to make juice with several items and it changed to where I only want one item in there or maybe two at the most. Then I started to prefer mono meals. Then my smoothie tastes changed to simple combinations, for example my GS is usually a simple combo like cucumber and romaine lettuce. my fruit smoothies are frequently mono and when its a combo its something like apple / cranberry. Tonight instead of putting more stuff in my salad I made the salad simpler with just lettuces and Udo's blend oil on it and I like it better. It seems the longer I stay all raw the simpler my tastes are becoming. Has anyone else experienced a change in food preferences to simpler ?

EZ Rider - Was trying to send you an email, but you have that function turned off.

Alissa talks about this in her book. She talks about how after a while, some people may very well go to a simpler, less gourmet style of eating. She also talks about it in the DVD. The important thing to remember is to listen to your body. If you're craving simple, eat simple. But if a monster craving comes on, at least you'll have the tools and knowledge to make yourself a gourmet dish or feast, without having to turn back to cooked, right?!:D

That's why I love Alissa's way of doing raw. It gives you the tools and knowledge you need to follow your own raw journey with maximum success at minimal effort!:D

I'm glad you're finding the way that works for you! Just remember, when a craving strikes, for say some hearty Italian food, her Calzone RAWKS!:D

ezrider, you know what im going to say, i've been feeling exactly the same lately, although i've been raw since march. just recently the feeling's become more intense, i suppose it might be because i only became strictly 100% around july/august.

for example this week i haven't been able to stomach mixed salds anymore which i used to love, so i omit the toms and peppers... and basically just have a simple green salad, dressed with seaweed granules + lemon. and i only use simple cucumber, celery and romaine in my green drinks. the thought of nuts and dried foods turns me off now, and i wonder how i used to LOVE all my homemade chocolate cakes and fudges...etc. this week i've even stopped eating my fav flax bread and cookies as i just don't feel like them, and when i last tried them 2 days ago i just felt unsatisfied and a bit sick.

i've started to crave mono-meals like just apples /melon at once. although i'm still crazy about raw natural fats like avos and bananas (just not nuts), but i can only eat them as they are. bananas simply frozen and minced into icecream now makes me feel sick, i can't believe i used to love it so much.

i now look at complex raw recipes like lasagne/pestos/the food served at raw restaurants...etc and i just wonder how people can stomach them. i did read early on in alissa's book and from other raw-foodists that this happens and is a healthy and natural response, but i never believed that i would evolve that way as well!

shine72 -- I agree with you that the best thing a person can do is to listen to their body and if the body wants simple raw foods then fuel the body with that.

lulushka8 -- It sounds as if you are evolving toward the simpler raw foods the same as I am. It seems I also have lost my desire for anything but simple raw foods in their natural state as they grow in the earth. My tastes for the raw foods are now very similar to the way you described yours.

It sounds pleasant...I have been slowing eating more simply.
Recently I read blogs by parents telling what their kids eat throughout the day and quite frankly it resonated with me.
Almond milk at 8 am, banana at 10 etc- life never felt so simple:)

pretty much since the beginning it has been this way for me but now.....i look at menus and photos of raw resteraunts on line and i'm like....raw nachos....heck yeah!!!

i think since i am eating as a single person most of the time, and i am my only raw friend....:D ..... i keep it simple to keep it simple and because i know that it really satisfies me.....but i miss sharing the food/cooking experience with groups of people and spoiling people with fancy, delicious foods...but most of my friends up here all say the same thing....we love you but you crazy

;) EZ...you were reading my mind! I think that when I keep things simple, I am a HAPPIER person, and more satisfied. I have tried so many RAW "Dishes" that I just didn't like (I found out I don't like wheatberries!!!).... But, when I eat 3-4 Bananas I feel GREAT and satisfied!!! Thanks this thread because it's great to be reminded that simplicity is the KEY!!!

i do want to add....that last reply about eating what kids eat...i love it and this is a perspective I share with my patients all the time.....

1. eat like you would feed your child (not like a teenager who's parents are away for the weekend!!!)

2. in chinese medicine the guts/digestion are the earth element....the earth has harmony when it moves in regular patterns and cycles.....seasons, orbits etc.....for our earth element to have harmony we need to follow cycles of time and regularity etc

3. the earth is our mother.....straight ffom the tit (ie. the ground) is going to give us the deepest nourishment.....every step away from that directness we lose that physical and emotional potency of our care from her

For the most part I eat just fruits and veggies in their simple forms..not many complex combos..but I do like to have one or two things a day like flax crackers or nuts for a little something heavier :)

most of my friends up here all say the same thing....we love you but you crazyHaHaw, I hear ya, Most of my friends and relatives are gobbling up cooked food and they like it like that. It reminds me of a picture cartoon I saw once that had a pig smiling and sitting in a big mud bath and the caption read "Never try to teach a pig to sing it wastes your time and it annoys the pig".
