I was wondering if anyone used a dehydrator from The Sausage Maker Inc. I know the name is not something to embrace  , but it seems like they have nice dehydrators. Comments? Advice? Please, I'm desperate. I need to get one soon.

Many thanks.

Revvell, the company that sells the dehydrators is called "The Sausage Maker". ;)

I've seen one person on this list who said they had one of those and seems they liked it. I can't remember who it was, though or what thread it was in...but perhaps if you do a search for the term, "The Sausage Maker" you might come up with it (search feature is the little banana icon at the top).

The only thing you want to be sure of is that it has a temperature control and that it can set as low as 95-105 degrees.

It seems like it is close to the Excalibur, but has more Watts and is all metal, even the shelves, which I would like, since I'm not so sure about teflon sheets. It doesn't seem to have a solid dehydrator sheet though, only a very small grid one, but I guess you could use the Excalibur's teflon sheets.

Also, it doesn't give much information about the dryer itself or the accessories shelves. I would contact the company before a purchase and get a little more info.

I was going to reward myself with a new dehydrator as well, if I finished the 30 day challenge, but I'm not so sure anymore. I've read a couple of times, about teflex not being safe.
And since I do like my American Harvest pretty well, I might just get added shelves, converter shelves (to be able to put taller to-be-dried items in).

The only advantage the Exalibur has over the American Harvest, is, that you can pull out individual shelves to check on items drying, whereas the AH is a stackable, where you have to lift all the above shelves to get to the one you want. I also would have liked to have a timer, so I can dry things overnight, but it will save me a lot of money just getting accessories for my American Harvest, than buying a new dehydrator.

Well, I hope this helps, and doesn't confuse you more! ;)

I have a good Nesco that I got at Walmart. Pretty cheap and it has a thermostat. Has served me VERY well this last 2 months. If you go to walmart.com and enter "dehydrator" in the search, it'll pull it up. I got accessories through Nesco.com for my fruit-roll sheets and some convertable trays which will let me make tall breads.

Yep, that's the one I have, just forgot to put "Nesco" in the description.
