View Full Version : Missing menstrual periods? (TMI)

Is this okay? I haven't gotten my period back as I'm still nursing, baby is 20 months and before raw I cut him down to only nursing in relation to sleeping (bedtime and nap times) and fully expected my period (which has been the case with the other 2 as soon as I cut the nursing down). I have been charting for years (since just before getting married) and so I'm aware of my fertility. After cutting down the nursing I did get fertile cervical fluid and my temperature went up, I even felt some very slight cramping around ovulation but no flow. I did go high raw before actually going raw and wonder if going raw has anything to do with it? Is this okay? I'm obviously most likely fertile, just no flow. I know I'm thin but I've been this thin with the other 2 as well. With my first I was vegan but rarely ate anything raw, it was all cooked and my flow came back at 8 months (and was very heavy), with my second I was eating about 1/3 raw and as I said as soon as I cut down the nursing it came back but not as heavy, more normal, and this occured around 14-ish months. I'm now at 20 months, cut him down at almost 19 months and it's like I'm going through a cycle without a flow. I don't know if that makes any sense and I still need to wait and see what happens after a few months. But could it be going raw? Would this have any negative effect on my h ealth or is it alright? Are there others who's flow has decreased at all since raw?

I hope you don't think this is a stupid question!

I nursed my 2nd child for 35 months and got my period back at the 30 month mark. It is totally normal for some women not to have a period during extended breastfeeding. And yes, I experienced some of the same things you are describing. I was not thin during my pregnancies or post deliveries. Wasn't huge either, but definately overweight. Still working on that. So I would say to you, trust your body. And if you are unsure, check out Mothering.com if you haven't already.

Best of luck to you,
Danielle
