I have a lot of spinach that I need to use quickly and I need new green smoothie recipes. I only know 2 other than just adding greens powder. I am limited with what I can add to the smoothie. Here's what I have: frozen raspberries, strawberries, peaches, blueberries, or acai. I also have fresh grannysmith apples. Would any of those work? I don't like to use bananas but most of the recipes I find have them.

My favorite:
Juice 1/2 grapefruit & 2-3 clementines, place juice in blender.
Add a handful of spinach & blend until liquid-ized. (?)
Add fresh (or frozen)
-pineapple
-strawberries
-blackberries
-a healthy squirt of agave (to taste)
-ice
And blend until smooth...YOWSA!
So good!!!!!!!!! ( :

Mango and Spinach Smoothie
This is a great recipe for getting masses of greens in quickly, easily and deliciously.
Makes about 2 pints – ideal for 1 pint in the morning, and 1 pint after work (if you keep it in the fridge all day it will be fine)
Ingredients:
• 1 bag organic baby spinach (approx. 200g)
• 1 fresh mango
Directions:
1) Rinse and sort spinach, making sure that all leaves are healthy and good enough to eat or drink.
2) Peel and chop mango, placing in the bottom of your blender.
3) Add the spinach on top and blend on full power – add water of necessary or so desired.
4) Depending on your personal preference, add more water to create a runnier, smoother drink.

If you can't use it, freeze it. That's our motto :D Spinach is a great green to add because the flavor is so mild it can go with just about anything.

Spinach is one of my favs in gs's, too. I rotate, but it is great with a little collard, some flat leaf parsley, and whatever fruits you like--I usually put in (all fruits I use are frozen) 1-2 bananas, some blueberries, strawberries, black cherries, mango and/or papaya and have recently added frozen unpasturized acai. I really use lots of greens in mine although don't really weigh them--just stick them in and blend with water and then start adding my fruit. Seems to ease up on the vitamix so keeps things moving better.

Here is one I made all week for a non-raw friend of mine and she LOVED it! (So much so that she's going to buy a Vita-Mix so she can make of it! :)
1 Banana
1 Mango
handful of Spinach
water to desired consistency

spinach and oranges
I also like to make soup by juicing carrots, garlic, and various other veg in a centrifugal juicer (won't work with a twin gear because the pulp is too dry/hard) and then putting both the juice and the pulp in the blender with spinach.

Spinach is one of my favorite greens to add to smoothies. Strawberries are wonderful with spinach and quite honestly, I've discovered that adding a big 'ol chunk of ginger will make any smoothie taste wonderful.

lady green jeans-- what brand of frozen acai do you use? I would like to buy some. I use the pasturized sambazon acai right now. my local coop once had raw wild acai but they don't have it anymore and I forget what it was called.
thanks for the ideas everyone. So if spinach is mild tasting I guess that means it will taste fine with any fruits really? That's how it works with my greens powder. I add it to anything. I like raspberry strawberry parsley so I'm going to try that with spinach instead of parsley tomorrow. I just don't have the ingredients right now to many any of the suggestions! I will make them after I go shopping though.

Yay! I made a good green smoothie today with my spinach! It was:
raspberry, strawberry, 1T coconut oil, 1T hemp protein powder, 1T raw greens powder, 2 cups spinach.
I want to use up this spinach so I am going to try to make another smoothie with it later. Maybe I'll try 3 or 4 cups of spinach. The only fruit I have left now is frozen blueberries and mixed berries. I will have to try those.
