So, we switched to raw about 2 weeks ago- about 90%. I am hypoglycemic and I find myself having a hard time with some things. Salads and stuff like that are fine, I used to eat them all the time... but I dont' know what to do for breakfast. I have been doing green smoothies, but my body can't handle those, it throws my blood sugar all out of wack, then I feel sick for the rest of the day. Today is one of the worst days. The green smoothie wasn't even that bad. It had about 3 cups kale, 2 cups water, 3 tbs hemp seeds, 2 tbs flax oil, some nectarines, and some berries. I could never put a banana in a smoothie (hopefully someday), because it makes me really sick. I really couldn't eat fruit beforehand except berries...and I'm finding a hard time finding the right green smoothie combination.
Does anyone make any with almond butter and mainly protein...what about breakfast items? My body could never handle oatmeal or buckwheat or those sorts of things. I used to eat eggs and cheese for breakfast, and salads for lunch etc.
I can eat nuts like crazy, but they are a little on the expensive side for us right now, and it seems like I can eat 1lb a day if I let myself!! It's like my body needs that or something.

Any help would be great. I hate feeling like this, but want to eventually move to 100% raw.

I really would like to buy some books on raw- but I'm limited to the library and what I find online for now.

Mommyinthecountry, thing is, you can eat whatever you want for breakfast. What I mean by that is, don't limit yourself to traditionally-thought-of "breakfast-type" foods only...broaden your horizons by realizing that if you want a salad for breakfast, you can have that...if you want a slice of that raw apple pie you had the night before, you can have that...if you want a slice of raw pizza or marinated veggies or mock salmon wrapped in a lettuce leaf...ANYTHING you want, you can have it.

So, it doesn't have to be a "traditional breakfast item" for breakfast is basically what I'm trying to say.

Check out our recipe section and do a search for "Ani Phyo's Spanish Scramble" or if not there, do a quick Google search for her. I would do it for you, but I have to make a dash out the door right about now...

Just trust that all of your ailments will be healed via raw. In the beginning I was hypoglycemic, anemic, and a whole list of other ailments. Three months later I had a blood test and I am as perfect as a peach! It's the beginning for you and just trust your body is healing. It is getting use to the really good food. Keep at it. You will be amazed at how much you will heal.

I so know what you are talking about. Rawkinlocs is right. Eat what you can tolerate in the morning. With my hypoglycemia I could not eat just fruit, even if it is the best thing for digestion in the am. What I do is a smoothie with spirulina powder. I also time it so that I will be eating again in 2 hours because I have noticed that with my hypogly I cannot go like most people 3 or 4 hours until lunch. Nothing holds me that long in the am. I do eat raw cereal (soaked and dehyrated groats) WITH nuts and almond milk and fruit and this helps me better too. Maybe try something different like Rawkinlocs suggests - or - if you have a smoothie, also plan to eat again in 2 hours or so and see if that helps. Good luck!!!
