Are frozen berries considered raw?
Does raw honey need to be refrigerated?

Are frozen berries considered raw?If I freeze them and I have complete control of the process then I consider them raw. However, I have heard that some (maybe all ?) frozen foods are flash heated to extend shelf life and appearance by food handlers and processors. Turning the process over to someone else means you need to cross your fingers and hope.

There are some places you can get unblanched frozen berries. I contacted Trader Joes and they told me that their frozen berries were raw, and they even have some organic frozen berries at a very good price. I agree with EZ rider, when you can, just freeze them yourself, but when you can't, it's nice to know you can still eat them!

I do not refrigerate my honey. It makes the consistency too hard.

I seen some at our local hfs... organic raw and BERRY BERRY EXPENSIVE! but worth it I'm sure! Lots of rawbies will freeze fruit - bananas, berries, grapes, and I've even seen it suggested to freeze green smoothies in ice cube trays for easy fixin later!!

RAWK on!! :D

Although they would remain raw, there is debate about whether or not all the nutrients stay in tact. I am using frozen berries in my smoothies because there was a big sale where I work (wild oats/whole foods) but otherwise I generally never eat anything that has been frozen. Just my two cents :)

And honey does not need to be kept refrigerated, but do keep it out of the sun or direct light :)
