I want to make a recipe that I have for a smoothie which includes pineapple, peach, and collards. How many leaves of collard should I add? I am new to green smoothies!
I would half a leaf at a time then taste after blending each half leaf. Collard greens are STRONG, kind of spicy in a gs.

Thanks for your quick response! I made it up to 2 leaves for a whole blender full. I never even tried collards before. It tastes a lot better than I thought it would! Too bad my blender isn't that good and it leaves little bits of the collards that weren't fully blended. I'm excited about starting the green smoothies! :)
I tend to use spinach, parsley and one kale leaf daily. Rotate your greens. I'm in a rut and I read that you really shouldn't over use spinach. Good for you for starting out with something like collards! I started out with a very little bit of spinach (mild flavor) and now cram the blender full! In fact, I can't make a smoothie without some greens!
I started with about one bunch of greens (different everyday.) I slowly have developed a strong desire for greens and enjoy the taste- now I use about 4 bunches a day- usually kale, parsley, collards, romaine, dandelion or spinach.

I usually put 1/2 cup - 1 full cup depending on what it is... a full cup could be baby spinach because its not overly strong... and mixed with other fruits the fruit hides it well.

I stuff my blender full of greens, and sometimes I add more once it starts blending. I crave greens now, I just cant get enough! its like my body is making up for all the time it went without.
Some things you can add that may help when starting w green smoothies are:
Coco oil 1 Tblsp
soaked dates
fr pineapple
fr raspberries
and of course the almighty banana
Ive found that when I add these particular ingredients I can increase the amount of greens.

I do a bunch of the kale or collards. I have found it digests better if I don't use the starch stalk, just the leaves.
Does anyone else have that experience?
