Alrighty people, I've got some brainstorming for ya! ;)

I really do NOT like the taste of olive oil. In a recipe, I use probably 1/4 of what is called for and I can still taste it! The same goes for coconut oil. I love coconuts, but this is really RICH and sweet in a way.

They are both unrefined, cold processed, what they are supposed to be. I made almond butter with coconut oil and it was almost like that was all i could taste. It just seems that the taste of those two dominates the whole recipe!

Anyone feel the same? I know vegetable oil (soybean oil) is out of the question right? But, it had such a neutral taste to it. anything like that oil? Thanks!

Ummm ... I'm not trying to be flippant here, so please don't take it that way. I can't even taste my olive oil, so I might not be of any help, but, here goes.

Okay -- how about when you use olive oil in salad dressing, add lots of herbs or Nama Shoyu so a stronger taste than the olive oil will come through. And -- don't use coconut oil in making almond butter. Maybe you'll just need to buy it readymade. Or ... someday you'll get a Champion or Greenstar or other type of juicer where you can make almond butter without much added oil?

RT-

I enjoy your posts so much! :D

I do have a champion juicer, haven't tried it yet because I thought that the mix needed more oil. But, I'll give it a whirl! The almonds should be soaked before trying it, am I right?

Try flax seed oil. Also, I have seen hazelnut oil, that was cold pressed.

Blessings.

Ah .... but, were the hazelnuts raw? There's the rub! Cold-pressed is just the last part of it. Gotta start with raw (organic, hopefully) nuts or seeds!

I am not sure if the hazelnuts were raw! I did not check that closely. Next time I see it, I will look closely.

Blessings.

I have used a raw walnut oil, and also a cold pressed sunflower oil that is raw - both have lighter flavors - yes, you do have to use a little oil in the champion user, and it is to be done slower than normal. I think flax is great to use as well - we also have a green star and use flax oil to reduce the foam with juicing wheat grass and I can say there is no after taste or overbearing taste there.

You may need to use almond oil when making almond butter, pumpkin seed oil when using pumpkin, flax seed oil in recipes with flax seed, only use coconut oil in desserts, etc. It's tough being picky!! [speaking from experience]

Sweetlips, how do you use the flax seed oil in your juicer? Do you rub the wheat grass in a bit before juicing, or?? I drink the juice in shots, it isn't a flavor I can savor. The foam actually induces my friend's gag reflex. :( I appreciate your help.
