How do you guys heat your food a bit, like a soup for example?

I made mashed potatoes tonight and I bet they would taste so much better if I could take the chill off them.

I had tried to heat up a plate of squash pesto pasta in my dehydrator but it was still cold and it started getting dried out. I had it in there for like 4 hours on 95 degrees.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Well there are a few ways I do it. One is with the dehydrator on at 105 degrees for like half an hour or so. Or you can put it in a bowl of warm water, not burning hot but pretty warm to the touch. Or you can put on your stove burner and keep lifting the pot off the burner so it never reaches past 105 degrees. There is the quick defrost of the microwave option but microwaves are so bad for you so I never use mine. Most of the time I use my dehydrator. Also when I make things in the dehydrator you can put it on at 140-145 for the first two hours only and according to Excalibur's instructions you don't destroy the enzymes so you could put something in your dehydrator at a slightly higher temp if it's out of the fridge for a short time.

Other may have their own method to share.

Hi Im in the UK & we have a thing called a porringer...its basically a small saucepan with a nother one on top, the top one has holes in the bottom. you heat the water in the bottom pan & the steam then heats the food in the top pan...maybe you have or can get something similar?

As far as soup goes, I heat my soups in a pot on the stove, with a candy thermometer to gauge temperature. It seems to work very well! I've heard of heating dishes on the top of your oven too.....just turn the oven on, let it get hot, and place whatever dish you want to warm up, on top of the stove. I haven't personally tried that, but I would think depending on how much you have to warm up, it would at least take the chill out!

All very good ideas. I tried something a bit random tonight though ha.

My dad is a complete SAD eater but everything I make he is very interested in but it bothers him so much that I eat it cold. Racking his brain everytime I eat with them he finally had a good idea tonight.

We have this construction lamp and I just put my plate of food about 10 inches under it and it worked great and fast.
