How do you all deal with cooked food/SAD cravings? I've never been a vegetable person, tried some raw and did not like it, but i can eat some fruits. (green smoothies have been working out great) Im allergic to fruits like apples, plums, basically the skin of most fruits. I can eat berries, bananas, etc. I am also allergic to all nuts except roasted cashews, which aren't raw. All i crave is junk foods (both sweet and salty) and fatty foods. I know that this is what i need to do for my health, but with lack of money and me getting bored eating the same thing what am i to do. Where i work at home, and my boyfriends house everyone are SAD eaters too so im pretty much surrounded by this day in and day out! Any suggestions?!!

Dealing with SAD and/or cooked, period, cravings can be challenging ESPECIALLY when it's all around you. I think that in all honesty, it takes a great mind shift. I mean, sometimes you even have to tell yourself that it's (cooked food) is poison even if you don't really believe that. Sometimes you have to sit down and really search your soul for WHY you chose to eat this way (raw) and post it on the fridge, etc. to remind you.

Sometimes little "tricks" and "tactics" work and sometimes they do not. But the thing is to NEVER GIVE UP no matter what...if you "slip" or what have you...keep plugging away and you'll find that the more you eat raw...the longer you eat raw, the less you'll desire and/or be able to tolerate cooked food.

As for your allergies...in most instances (if not all), allergies to natural, plant foods are usually from a toxic system and the toxins are reacting and causing a reaction in your body. My husband broke out in hives when he ate strawberries or bananas...my daughter's eczema rashes got worse when she ate nuts or citrus fruit. But both are now able to eat those things since being raw and getting cleaned out from within. But for now, a lot of nut-based recipes can be substituted with seeds...IF you can eat seeds. For example, you can make nut cheeses with sesame seeds ground/blended up as opposed to cashews or macadamia nuts...and you can also incorporate sprouted grains and buckwheat as staples to use and they're not expensive.

But hang in there and search around our recipe section for quick, easy, yet satisfying recipes that can be made with minimal ingredients such as the chocolate pudding made with avocados!

I am by no means an expert on anything you mentioned, but I wanted to at least let you know of something’s I have heard of or dealt with that might help you look for a better solution for your health :D

as far as sad cravings, I am a little weird about that. I can't eat most things cooked with out having some sort of digestive problem, so I just don't eat it(I'm a bit stubborn)

for the fruit allergies, I wonder what it is your allergic too. I knew some people allergic to the skin of fruits but found out organic was ok(which indicates it wasn’t the fruit). are you allergic to organic fruit as well?
also, my bf has a hard time digesting ANYTHING gassy, including fruits and veggies, raw or cooked. so he eats nuts, some meats, tiny portions of fruits and that works for him. come to think of it, what kind of fruit allergy do you have?

I heard some where that soaking the nuts for periods of time then drying them or eating them soaked, doesn’t aggravate the system the same way it would have pre soaked. maybe you could look into that? I'll try to find where i read that ok?

you crave fatty foods too huh? lol so do me and my mom, like crazy cravings too! i eat avocados, nuts, nut concoctions.......but thats no good if your allergic. :(

i wish you all the luck you need :) good luck !

Thanks for the advice. I have not really prepared myself mentally for the change i am trying to make as far as going raw. I just know that i need to do it for my health. I guess im so used to letting myself get away with things its about time i sit down and really search for the reason im doing this(not just for weight loss either). I think of the foods i wont get to eat anymore and im trying to change that. Dont really know what else to say, but thanks guys for the advice.

believe it or not - a tablespoon of coconut oil in your gs in the morning.... (or like me - I just eat it right off the spoon)... that seems to help with my cravings.... and it helps you loose weight too! :D

one day at a time.... we can do this together!!
