I'm on day 31 of a juice fast. Yesterday I got VERY ill for about 5 hours and then food started to look SOOOO good (even cooked food :o ). So my question is what is TRUE hunger. Someone here said it's in the throat not the stomach. i don't have that and I still have detox symptoms going on (yes even on day 31. sigh. LOL! )
I guess I'm having trouble reading the signs my body is putting out....can you help me? ;)

Hunger in the throat? Never. I once got down to 85 pounds from being very sick. After I got better, I could not bring myself to eat for fear of getting sick on the food. I was hungry. VERY hungry. Never once did I feel hunger in my throat. Just in my stomach. And empty, growling kind of feeling.
What you describe in terms of food looking good is how I get when my blood sugar is low. But I'm diabetic.

A wise person once explained to me the difference which has resonated with me when I'm fasting and has helped me gauge true hunger.
True hunger is that which you feel in your whole physical body. When your body is ready to consume solid food, it will tell you.
An emotional craving will only be in the mind and it will trick you into thinking you're hungry when you're not.
From what you've shared, it sounds like it may be time to break your fast but listen to your body. Each one is different and only your's knows the answer to your question.
You could also be experiencing detox symptoms which says you're healing and is the primary purpose of your fast right? Hang in there if this is the case and ride it out. Your body is probably releasing a huge toxic block or toxins.
Pamper, pamper, pamper and rest!
Peace,
Crystal

I forgot to mention sometimes when you experience a strong craving for something on a long fast it could mean that your body is releasing old waste. It's coming out in reverse is another way to look at it.
For example if you have impacted waste in your colon or some emotion deeply embedded in your tissues, when you fast it comes out and you will sense it. I haven't eaten red meat or dairy since I was teenager. During my last fast I was craving cheeseburgers. I realized it was what I was releasing. It's a very wild process at times and miraculous. :D
This could be what you're experiencing actually...
