Fitness Goal for November: Exercise daily even if I'm busy and it means I have to run for 10 minutes just to say I did it. No excuses!

I'll be in Maine at Alissa's classes from tomorrow until next Tuesday, so I won't be able to chime in and post about it until that time... But I'm in. :)

This is just what I need to go along with the 100% Raw 30 day challenge!!
I use to work out at the gym 5 days a week till I let job stress take over my life over the past year and I stopped completely (both eating raw and working out). I paid the price....have been off on stress leave since end of August. I'm finding my way back after a breakdown and regaining 23 lbs.
I am slowly finding my way back, have been raw since Oct 9th and have lost 11.5 of those lbs. and each day my mind is becoming clearer. I've been trying to walk each day but have lost the momentum I use to have and the drive which pushed me. Hoping to regain that drive with this challenge group.
I'm not asking too much of myself right now, just to do some form of body movement for minimum of 45 minutes per day.
Thanking everyone for their words of encouragement and support!

I'm in too. Starting the 30 day challenge today! Wow Today will be my 1st 100% raw day ever.

I'm training for a marathon and already have a schedule of running 5 days a week, increasing distance every two weeks. My goal will be to NOT skip any of the sessions and to go swimming once a week. Also to take my dogs for a walk on the rest days.

Good Morning Beautiful Raw People!

I think I will post the specifics later this evening in my signature. My hope is to be able to post everyday...

For now....

I plan on doing some flight runs meaning running up and down 3 flights of stairs in two intervals of 3 runs with 50 jumping jacks in between each set.

That's all I got for now; I know I'll be busy finished up work until late tonight so I figure that in the event I don't make it to the gym; at least it is something that will get me in the cardio zone....

If I do make it to the gym; I'll add more later.....

OK, I didn't do so well with this last month, so I decided to start fresh. My November Fitness Challenge is to MOVE! Just move. I surely didn't want to get out of bed this morning, but then I remembered it was 11/1 and I didn't want to miss a day. So I walked on my rebounder for 30 minutes this morning. Thanks for the encouragement. Without this thread I wouldn't have gotten up and MOVED!

Hi Subu wow your start to the day was exactly like mine...I awoke to greyness & didnt feel like getting out of my warm bed AT ALL ;)
But I remembered the challenge & got motivated by it danced about on my rebounder to happy music for 30 minutes:)
Then the sun came out so i went for a long walk outside. I feel sooooooo ALIVE now. Yeah!

Well the goal is to do at least one bikram yoga class while I'm in Bangkok. I always try and hit a yoga class when I travel, just to check it out and say I did. I hear the studio there is beautiful. And I will definitely be doing a lot of walking around site seeing - when I'm not lazing around on the beach. I can't wait to eat all the fresh fruit and get young thai coconuts straight from the source!!

Today I am planning to either go to bikram or hit the gym.

I survived a day without nuts/seeds and am feeling better...anyone else overdo it on those bad boys....Yes, I know they are good for you but I alas confess I am a type A personality that tends to go overboard on EVERYTHING!!!!! So I will focus on exercise instead!!!

Now that we have a decent sized roster going, let's talk about goals;
As your "coach" I will try to post a fitness tip every day:
Today's tip:
Be consistent
Do not set your goals so high that they are impossible to attain. When you think about the shape you are in now think of the reality of what you can commit to for this month. We start a new thread each month so don't feel like this is the be all end all! Aim for 30-60 minutes AVERAGE daily...more/less depending on your fitness level.

:D Even tho the sun was shining yesterday it was windy and cold.......but did that stop me?? NOOOOOO!! Onward like a trouper I went......since walking around the neighborhood didn't interest me (I've been doing that for weeks), going to the gym wasn't in me, I decided to take my earmuffs, scarf and gloves and drive out to the lake. When I reach the marina I drove 2kms past it and parked. Then got all bundled up and walked to the marina and back along the lake. It was glorious!! It wasn't even as cold as I thought it was going to be. So glad I did it. So that was 40 minutes.
Then came home and spent the next hour planting fall bulbs in the garden. OOOOO all that bending, kneeling and standing gotta be good for the ole' tummy and legs. I sure was stiff afterwards. Plus I had to keep running up and down my stairwell to the patio (I live in a basement suite which is below ground hence the stairwell to below ground level patio).
So I consider Day 1 a day well done! Now what to do for Day 2 that's just as much fun - hmmmmmmm.

Thanks for the daily tips - it'll come in handy for days when the going gets tough!

I did my usual exercises this morning for 45 miniutes and yesterday as well. In an hour or so I will be doing my water therapy and that is another hour. But the exciting thing is that when I weighed myself this morning I was at 187! That is a loss of 37 pounds! Haven't weighed this little in many years! Just had to tell somebody!

Di

ps-took our son to dinner for his birthday-his choice-Texas Roadhouse! Great right? Yeah, I brought my own food and hoped to order SOMETHING there I ordered their veg plate with a house salad w/o chz, croutons, egg + fresh veg (that were steamed even though the menu said "fresh" I assumed raw! But that's ok and a sweet potato which was cooked but plain. I am striving for 100% raw but sometimes our circumstances cause us to make the best choices in a situation. The mistake I made when I was 100% raw before is that I was a fanatic about it. This time I WILL NOT BEAT MYSELF UP if I have limited choices as with the vegetables and sweet potato....I will make judgement calls when necessary so I don't burn out as I did before. So, that's my second tip of the day:
Don't sweat the small stuff!

If you eat less than perfect do so mindfully rather than mindlessly!
Have a good evening!

And signing up for this challenge along with the Nov. raw challenge. It has been a while! I am now in Texas -- it took us over 2 months to move from Montana, but we did it. I am in a town thee times the size of my MT home townand what a dissapointment raw-food-wise. Yes, we have groceries with lots of raw stuff, but the unique stuff is no-where to be found. :(

Anyway, I'm back and ready for this challenge, maybe I'll get of my tail and start moving it. I had my hubby refill my exercise ball, but have yet to sit on it. It is time! I did walk around a couple of blocks today -- outdoors was calling me. I am so ready to get back in shape.

NF -- you still in OK?

Till next time!

My water therapy is due to my having a massive stroke last March, so I have therapies 3 times a week because I am still unable to walk except with a walker and am learning to use a cane. But I am still improving and maybe some day I will walk again. Once a week, on Fridays I have water therapy. On Mondays and Wednesdays I have physicial and occuptaional therapies. Plus my husband and I do at least an hour or more of exercises twice a day! After spending over two months in the hospitals in Anchorage, I am doing everything I can to prevent this from happening again!

Prior to this, I was unable to lose any weight! So, this is amazing! And, I am enjoying the fresh raw food!

Today's Tip:
"GO LONG"
a.k.a. Build an endurance base:
Whether you are walking, running, rebounding, hulaing (is that a word:confused: ), stretching, /whatever you do- try to double it once a week on a day when you have extra time. Typically this is a week end day but whatever works for you!
Now before you roll your eyes at me :p I'll have you know I have teenagers that do that to me plenty enough:rolleyes:
Seriously, what we call LSD (long slow distance) in the running world applies to other forms of exercise. It employs your body to use up the carb. storage and kick into the fat stores ++++++ teaches your body endurance for those shorter workouts. (Scientifically-it trains your slow twitch muscle fibers for endurance) How does this translate? If you normally work out/run 30 minutes, Try to do 60 (or at least 45)......you WILL reap the rewards....Good luck my cyber boot camp buddies.....

special note to northernstars-just an idea. I don't know IF you have access to a treadmill? But, when I broke my leg in 1/06 at the femoral neck I had to learn to walk all over again too. One thing that helped ME was getting on my treadmill, holding the siderails (as you do a walker) and walking very sloooooowly at first (like 1mph because I was scared!) I noticed the steady "speed" of the tm helped me when I would "practice" walking on other surfaces.....I can't say it was a rec. of any of my doctors----but then again I have never been one to listen to them anyway, right? When I had the metal hardware from that break removed just this past 9/12 I did the same thing....and now I am running again....so, maybe just maybe that is something you can try? If not the water therapy is great and if you want to e-mail me with a few more details maybe I can help out further....Have a blessed day!

I made it to 15 yoga classes last month and only one day I did some other exercises. I set some goals that seemed to high for me to achieve at that time, so I want to start with easier goals this month.

My goal is to do yoga at least 5 days per week (weekdays) for a total of 21 days. I actually hope to do yoga every day if I can handle it by doing some videos at home.

Also, I would like to get back to the normal level classes. I am taking beginners level right now because I haven't been feeling well, but I took the harder level a few weeks ago and did fine.

Oh, and I'm still keeping my goal of 10,000 steps per day for most days. I will try to take walks when I feel up for it, but first I'm focusing on the yoga. I really want to make a difference in my health this month. I hope I can do it!

Good Morning Ladies! I enjoyed the extra hour of sleep here in EST.....Which leads me to today's tip....(One I might add I have not always followed).....
Make 1 day a week a REST DAY or at least a "Mix it up" or "Do something different Day".......

Rest is very important for your body. Muscles actually need recovery/repair time to get stronger....However, that doesn't mean you need to sleep all day and not get out of bed! Active "rest" is acceptable.... "Mix it up"...Take a walk with your children/grandchildren/significant other,,, For me, I like to make rest day the day following my "long run" which is usually Sunday.......Personally, I have to do SOMETHING! unless I am sick....But today is my day off from running....I "slept in" until my body (ok, my kids) woke me up....Later,I will either go to the gym or ride my bike....but it's ccccccoooooollllld (32 degrees). My typical schedule is sooooo jam packed I like Sundays because it's like a "catch up day" for sleep and everything else. I am normally up at 3 a.m.! !

Have an awesome day!!!

I hope you are all reaching your goals Boot Campers.....Don't forget to check in! GOOD LUCK:

nfracer -
I would like to contact you regarding running and marathons . Could you email me for further inspirations? It's something I've always wanted to do, but feel it might not belong on this forum. Look forward to hearing from you. Also, want to know how you incorporate raw and running. Thanks!:)

I will contact you via e-mail....but this thread is also for supporting our "raw exercise endeavors" so you can discuss things here too! I find high fruit in the a.m. and my "salads" more for dinner help a lot.....I am personally trying to stay away from nuts right now but that's because I feel I need some "cleansing" and nuts seem to make me slower and more lethargic...Again, that's me. I think we all have different needs at different times. I put on a few pounds when I wandered away from the raw lifestyle and I want to get back to my "running weight".....Fruit just gives me more energy (and it's easier to transport!!!!)

Today was my "Do something different" day so I took 4/5 of my kids to the gym and we all "worked out." I did the elliptical for 45 minutes, the stairmaster ( ) on the hardest level for 15 sweat dripping minutes, lunges X 3sets + various gym equipment. It was fun to "mix it up" but I am a runner at heart! I will be glad to zone out in a run tomorrow. Running to me is just so liberating and invigorating. But maybe it just boils down to being something people never expected ME to be able to do! I was a "chubby" teen and adult until losing 50 pounds several years ago. Running and raw keep me balanced! Have a great Sunday everyone!

Hi guys. I did bikram yesterday - first time in a bit. I'm sooo sore today! Was supposed to go for a bike ride but didn't feel up to it (17 miles). I went for a 3mile walk today though.

I took a 1 hour walk on day 2 but it's the weekend now and nothing happens then! I have always taken the weekends off from exercising at the gym or specific walks for exercise. I try to get dh to do something with me for pleasure (and I still get moving) but usually end up doing house work, grocery shopping or just general bumming around with dh cuz he gets bored in the apartment and wants to go out somewhere but not walking or hiking or biking (can we say couch potato??). When I was working out faithfully I was a Monday to Friday gal. So that worked for me. I have to try to get dh to go swimming either Friday or Saturday night but this weekend we went to a hockey game as the World Juniors are being played here. Soon I may have to give up on him and just do stuff by myself.

Tomorrow is Monday so I'm good to go again. I figure 5 days per week committment is better than nothing at all. If I get some movement in on the weekend it's a bonus!!:D

What does being on the roster mean?
:D sorry berrynice for not ellaborating....We call this "thread" the boot camp fitness thread so the "roster" is just a list of us that are dedicated (or trying to be) to working out regularly and keeping tabs on ourselves via this thread. It's just reinforcement for us all to be on "a roster" of sorts!!!! Are you in? ;)

Good Monday Morning ladies! I hope your week ends were chock full of fun and memories to enjoy! Monday's are not my favorite day so with that I give you "Today's Tip"......

SMILE!

Yes, I know that seems like a silly "fitness tip" but try it, it's true. Haven't you ever noticed that people look sooooo serious (even angry) when they are working out? Well, just as an experiment smile, laugh (and wave if you're brave:D ) while you are out for that walk, or run or at the gym, or even by your little old self at home. Smiling (and laughter) are contagious! It will brighten your mood and put a little pep in your workout! I am not a doctor or scientist but I am pretty sure there has been research to back that smiling and laughter release endorphins....So smile away my friends and ENJOY your work out, even if it is MONDAY!!!!

Aha- there is proof!...

http://www.helpguide.org/life/humor_laughter_health.htm

Laughter's Effects on the Body

Laughter lowers blood pressure.
People who laugh heartily on a regular basis have lower standing blood pressure than the average person. When people have a good laugh, initially the blood pressure increases, but then it decreases to levels below normal. Breathing then becomes deeper which sends oxygen enriched blood and nutrients throughout the body.

Humor changes our biochemical state.
Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases infection fighting antibodies. It increases our attentiveness, heart rate, and pulse.

Laughter protects the heart.
Laughter, along with an active sense of humor, may help protect you against a heart attack, according to the study at the University of Maryland Medical Center (cited above). The study, which is the first to indicate that laughter may help prevent heart disease, found that people with heart disease were 40 percent less likely to laugh in a variety of situations compared to people of the same age without heart disease.

Laughter gives our bodies a good workout.
Laughter can be a great workout for your diaphragm, abdominal, respiratory, facial, leg, and back muscles. It massages abdominal organs, tones intestinal functioning, and strengthens the muscles that hold the abdominal organs in place. Not only does laughter give your midsection a workout, it can benefit digestion and absorption functioning as well. It is estimated that hearty laughter can burn calories equivalent to several minutes on the rowing machine or the exercise bike.

Humor improves brain function and relieves stress.
Laughter stimulates both sides of the brain to enhance learning. It eases muscle tension and psychological stress, which keeps the brain alert and allows people to retain more information

Thanks, again nfracer for yesterday's tip. I started out feeling guilty for missing my exercize and then was able to put that aside and rest! Today's motivated me to get out of the office at lunch and walk the trail behind my bldg. It was gorgeous outside today and several people not in the "zone" did smile back and speak. It was a great experience! Thanks for all your support, encouragement, and enthusiasm. My new mantra for Nov. is:

Morning guys.

Starapple, I do eat loads of bananas and dates but I try to limit the nuts (although i LOVE them). I'm trying to follow Doug Grahams 80/10/10 ratio of carbs/fats/protien, although its pretty difficult to keep the protien at 10%.
He trains athletes and has been raw for many years.

An so long as the fat stays under 20% im happy, a typical day is 15% which feels great. Yesterday's fat was 19 %. Apart from fruit and veg the only other source of fats were 3 walnuts and a Nakd bar (a UK larabar) which provided 8 grams each, a spoonful of sunflower seeds which was 2g. Even the apples oranges and pears provided some fat!

I like to start the day with a green juice but for some reason it dosen't go well with exercise, so when i run 1st thing in the morning i have a fruit smoothie or just bananas and dates. Other days i save the smoothie for post run and make it a big green one with spinach and celery (to replace electrolytes) and some hemp, sesame and flax seeds.

Right, out for my run now with the dogs.

Have a great day folk, KEEP MOVING!!!!!

My legs were really tired today so i only did 4 miles but put some good sprints in instead. Maybe i'll make a point of having a smoothie with lots of hemp and flax seeds in this evening to bolster me up for tomorrows run.

Lovely day to be out in nature, the suns shining here and the leaves were ankle deep and crunching under my feet through the woods :)

Oh well, now for the chores.

Good morning ladies! I had a decent run this a.m. and here's
"Today's Tip"
Stay hydrated! Even though we are eating a fluid rich diet of ruits and vegetables we are also sweating more than our RV counterparts...

"Hydration. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that people drink about 17 ounces of fluid about two hours before exercise, to promote adequate hydration and allow time for the body to excrete any excess water. During exercise, they recommend that athletes start drinking early and at regular intervals in order to take in fluids at the rate they're losing them through sweating"http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=55637

Dehydration can be miserable! Been there, done that...
Signs of Dehydration
To counter dehydration, you need to restore the proper balance of water in your body. First, though, you have to recognize the problem.

Thirst is one indicator of dehydration, but it is not an early warning sign. By the time you feel thirsty, you might already be dehydrated. Other symptoms of dehydration include:

feeling dizzy and lightheaded
having a dry or sticky mouth
producing less urine and darker urine
As the condition progresses, a person will start to feel much sicker as more body systems (or organs) are affected by the dehydration.

Preventing Dehydration
The easiest way to avoid dehydration is to drink lots of fluids, especially on hot, dry, windy days. Water is usually the best choice. Drinking water does not add calories to your diet and can be great for your health.

The amount that people need to drink will depend on factors like how much water they're getting from foods and other liquids and how much they're sweating from physical exertion.

When you're going to be outside on a warm day, dress appropriately for your activity. Wear loose-fitting clothes and a hat if you can. That will keep you cooler and cut down on sweating. If you do find yourself feeling parched or dizzy, take a break for a few minutes. Sit in the shade or someplace cool and drink water.

If you're participating in sports or strenuous activities, drink some fluids before the activity begins. You should also drink at regular intervals (every 20 minutes or so) during the course of the activity and after the activity ends. The best time to train or play sports is in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the hottest part of the day.

That being said,
DRINK UP!!!!!

[QUOTE=rawfigure;351971]Hi Di, thanks for the Tip, I am guilty of under hydration ! How is the no nut/seed goal going ? I ate an oz. almonds yesterday but that is it so far this month. QUOTE]
I am doing well with the "no nuts" almost caved but survived...I am making "flax onion" breads in my dehydrator but I don't count that in as the other category even though it's a seed....

I am having difficulty dropping weight though but think it's due to eating too close together and "backing up"....So since I get up so early I ate my "fruit meal" prior to my run (around 4 a.m.)and my "lunch" (main meal) at 7:30!!!! but I had already been up for several hours right? and I was hungry after my run so I figured since I operate on a different shedule I should eat differently!!! I "picked at" my cabbage salad all afternoon and ate a grapefruit after school. By the time I got home at 4:30,I realized I wasn't really hungry so thought skip dinner and don't feel so "full" in the a.m. Let's face it, when I get up at 3 and weigh myself it's basically all the food "sitting there" from the meal the night before....You know me I'll try anything for awhaile if it works....and maybe I'll run better...My tummy has been feeling so "full/gassy" that during runs I sometimes feel "blah" like I'm jigglin!!!! (aren't you guys so glad I share this-haha:p ) Usually I don't eat after 6 p.m. but do you think I should scale that back to 3/4 since that is when I get up in the a.m.?????? any advice welcome....I know this is a fitness thread but felt this indirectly relates to working out since we are all analyzing how foods affect our workouts right? I'll let you know how it works for me since I know some of you have to work out early like me!

I am giving the TIP OF THE DAY for tomorrow now so we can all rally together for our raw comrade in boot camp- Morn.....She is recovering from some issues and really could use our thoughts and prayers. She has come soooo far here and has transformed herself through raw foods! I was "away" for awhile and "down" about raw food in general I'll be honest....When I was curious I peeked in at this site and was amazed at the progress Morn had made. I actually thank her because if it weren't for reading her blog I probably would have never come back to the raw food lifestyle...That being said.......

"Tomorrow's Today Tip";)

Dedicate your workout to someone on a daily basis.
Whether you are a spiritual person or not, keeping a person or topic in your thoughts and sending warm thoughts or prayers can really get you through a tough workout. This is a little trick I have done on my longer outdoor runs. I also make it a point to let that person know I dedicated a run to them. It really brightens someone's day to know they are thought of!
So, Morn TOMORROW'S RUN IS FOR YOU AND I THINK IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT ALL OF US HERE AT BOOT CAMP WILL BE DEDICATING OUR WORKOUTS TO YOU TOMORROW!!! FEEL BETTER SOON AND CHECK IN WHEN YOU ARE UP TO IT!

Thanks V.P. & Kittymommy! it is good to be back!

Ok I just got done with 1/2 hour of rebounding. Was a little rough on my body but I made it through. Had to be a quicker workout today as I need to get into the shower and get ready for my meeting. Today is also my first real day back into eating all raw foods. My doctor officially released me a few days ago to go back to raw eating (and nuts) and I have tried for 2 days and screwed up both days. I know this is how I need to eat and I wish I hadn't taken a detour cause it is hard getting back to all raw but I will not throw away everything I worked so hard for so I will perservere and get back into the groove. I am still having issues and difficulties but as long as I take my metamucil, stool softners, and motrin it is currently bearable (which is a good thing cause a few days ago I thought I was going to die). I am up in my weight by 4 pounds from all of my sad eating and lack of exercise. I hope to get those pounds off soon with the help of all of you. I am looking at this like a temporary bump in the road!:D

;) Now, for Today's Tip...
Belly Breathing

"With a name like that, how can you help but be curious? Belly breathing is one of the more difficult techniques to master, but is very helpful even if you are only mildly proficient. As always, here's the run-down: The idea is to maximize the amount of air drawn into your lungs with every breath. Why not call it Lung Breathing, you ask? Because, that's why. Anyway, here's how you do it. Roll your shoulders forward slightly (also known in stuffy circles as slouching) and let them relax. As you breathe in, push out with your stomach and at the same time push down and out with your diaphragm. This allows maximum room for your lungs to expand and draw in precious oxygen. If you're not sure where and/or what your diaphragm is, check an anatomy book, because I'm not quite sure either! I know it's right around the center of your chest near the bottom of the rib cage. Some help I am... Once you get comfortable with how this feels, focus on how many strides you can cover between inhales. Initially, four strides (eight total steps, two steps per stride) will probably be just about your limit, but after a little practice you should be able to reach eight strides. Give it some time, it will start to feel more natural. And if you have problems with side cramps, this technique will put an instant smile on your face."

That being said-----
inhale......exhale, and have a great day!!!

I know it's really getting late in the month...but can I join please??? I really need some advice. My family has a Y membership that we are not using. I homeschool. I just can't seem to find the time to get a workout in. Anybody else in my shoes? DH leaves for work EXTREMELY early (before 5am) and .....I guess I have too many excuses. I thought maybe I could use the accountability. What are reasonable goals for someone in my shoes. I used to set goals for 30mins/5days/week...but that's too much right now. Is 30 mins/3days/week too slack? At this point I feel like I have to start somewhere. I know I am physically healthy enough to do more....but also a messed up thyroid is leaving me EXHAUSTED by the end of our school day...that's lunch time/early afternoon for us homeschoolers. I think exercise will help me there too, it's just finding time. By the way, DS, age 12, COULD stay home with the younger two after lunch, while I get a workout in, I think (there is no daycare at the Y until 5pm, which is too late because of dinner and other extracurricular obligations, almost every night, YES, we are busy)

Tvillemom - glad to see you here in this thread and thanks for your concern. I think we all can relate to busyness. I feel like I can't breathe 90% of the time. I think if 3 days a week is what you feel you can commit to than do that and be faithful. I myself can't find the time to exercise everyday either. It is rough working, managing kids and their schedules, and managing a home. I personally say do what you can. I know this thread helps me with accountability cause when I don't exercise I am always remembering everyone here and how I need to kick it into gear. So glad to have you with us here!:D Oh and congratulations on your tree status!

Today I was really really sore from the last few days of exercising. So I decided to do some pilates. I also got brave enough to weight myself again and I am happy to report that I am back down to 140 again. It is cool that a few days of eating right and exercise has brought my weight back down. It is strange though that my body seems to like the 140 mark. I hope to someday be at least 130. However, I have a raw food potluck tonight and with all the good food I expect my weight will be up a hair tomorrow. But I am happy for today!

Today's exercise: 1 hour of pilates

Sure no problem coach:p

Do you guys watch The Biggest Loser? It's a fav. of mine...Well, if you do and you know who "Jillian" is (one of the coaches), well, she's my favorite...I like her. No pain , no gain!;) Yeah, she's a bit harsh...But, if you WANT to get in shape and stay that way ya gotta cut out the fluff and work on the stuff! So, my tip for today?
NO PAIN NO GAIN!
Sorry to offend anyone but if "WE" all want to get in our best shape ever, it's not going to happen automatically, and it's not going to happen overnight!!! It takes an extra effort to eat the way we do so I know we all have that determination in us. Now channel it toward your workouts too! ...............now..... get going!!!!!!
Happy Saturday!!!!!

Morning guys

Just got back from a 14 mile run, myself and 2 friends. I took my 2 greyhounds and my friend took her 2 jack russells. The route was along a disused railway which has been turned into a footpath/cycle path. It was really lovely with all the trees dropping leaves and lots of horses and cows grazing in the fields either side. The scenery and friends made us forget the long distance we were running and it was GREAT. The dogs loved it too and probably ran much further than us girls! :D

Serious relaxation coming up for the rest of the day, starting now with a really hot bath!

Have a great energising day everyone

Way to go ladies! guess you took the "no pain, no gain!" mentality quite literally! :D I know you may be sore, but don't you feel more EMPOWERED and stronger. It's good to climb that wall! ...I am getting ready to do my long run right now which I NEED to psych up for since Sunday is usually my "sleep in" day + semi-rest....but due to family stuff yesterday I had to flip flop..... But, persevere I shall...

Today's Tip:
Record your workouts the old fashioned way!
Although it's great to blog and record everything here or on fitday.com, I find keeping a calendar next to my treadmill where I can jot down my weight, workout, etc... (and which sneakers I wear to track mileage-a running necessity) is key in not only tracking my progress but helping me look at the big picture.
For instance Morn (and others), I know you are at or close to your goal weight. Believe it or not that is when it gets trickier (my opinion) because you get so used to LOSING weight, MAINTAINING weight is an entirely different mindset. Yes, your weight will fluctuate....But if you look at the "big picture" and read back through your calendar/journal you will see patterns and maybe not freak out (OK, that's just ME again!) when your weight goes up a few pounds and then back down a few, etc....It gets down to the VOLUME of food you eat or fluid retention not true weight gain. AND, what better way to track your progress fitness wise as well. That is another area you start to see a pattern with. PLUS, by posting it NEAR where you work out it is MOTIVATING to see.....So, give yourself some credit for what you do. I have been doing it for a few years now and I get a kick out of reading back through my calendars! Good luck ladies! Enjoy your day!

Hi all

(((Crystalmoon))), no wonder you were feeling down. Hope you feel better soon. No hard exercise for you till you're recovered or you'll make yourself worse. We runners have a saying that if you have a cough/cold you can continue if it stays in the neck or above, if it goes lower, REST. Do you like garlic in food, maybe a nice soup gently warmed in the dh with garlic in would help. Its an age old recipe for coughs colds and all chesty things.

I got out for a 2 mile run but it was a real struggle. I was SO tired i didn't want to get out of bed. Finally forced myself up about 9ish but have been shattered all day. Hope i feel more lively tomorrow, i've a 6 miler planned.

Take care all, Denise

In 1999 when I found out Joshua (now 11) had an untreatable condition called neurofibromatosis ( ) we were devestated....Although we were told there was "nothing we could do" except "deal with it" my inherant convictions came out and I heard about the "NF Marathon Team program"....I had always played sports in HS, etc.... and this was "my kid" so I signed right up oblivious of the implications entailed in completing a marathon (didn't even know what it was!!!)...and so, at a size 12-14+??? I set out to conquer the marathon distance of 26.2 miles (and don't forget that .2, it's important!!!) I trained to WALK it (with MANY NAYSAYERS scoffing "you're" going to do a marathon!!!)....As the training walks got longer and longer I got bored and threw in some jogs, etc.....unwilling to "quit" as I was essentially obligated on behalf of my son (hard to quit with a toddler yelling "go mom!"....In January, 2000 I completed the distance in 5 1/2 or so hours...I had "jogged" the first half and walked the second and was soooooooooo proud of myself I was hooked. The feeling of accomplishment as I crossed the line that first time and saw my son brought me to tears.....
flash forward....I have 12 marathons and 10 1/2 marathons under my belt (+ many "Boilermakers" and smaller distances...) Prior to breaking my leg in 1/06 (that's another story for another day!!!;) ) I was "getting good" qualified for and ran a PR in Boston on my 38th birthday in '05 (3:37)....yadayadayada...

I have had some obstacles along the way and have somehow overcome them....
YOU CAN TOO!!!!
So Today's tip:
BE INSPIRED!
Make a goal &
Plan how to follow it & DO IT!!!!!
I hope that by sharing "my story" you can grab that brass ring......If there are other inspirational stories today would be a great day to share them!!!!! As for me, I "gotta run"
Happy trails ladies!

Morning guys

I went to bed at 11pm and slept sollidly till 10am, i just didn't wake up!!! My body obviously needs rest so thats what its going to get today. The run will wait till tomorrow. I'm going to have at least 2 green smoothies today as i realised that i haven't had any since saturday so it may be that which is making me tired. My body missing the good stuff already!.

NF, thats a lovely story, well done on your achievements, joshua is lucky to have such a great mum.

I run my first marathon in 4:02:19 way back in 1992 just because i'd seen the London Marathon on tv and said like thousands of others 'I want to do that'.! I did the last one in 2003, -11 years, thousands of cigerettes, tons of meat and dairy and gallons of booze and 50lbs+ later - in 5:47, ouch that hurt!

I'm going to do another next year and intend to be RAW, boozeless, smokeless, flabyless and finish with a time that starts with a 4!! I'd love to do it in under 4 hours and maybe thats possible on a RAW diet, even at 48!, time will tell.

Crystalmoon, please dont do any vigourous exercise, it will make the chest infection worse and it'll take longer to heal. If you crave something make it a gentle walk in fresh air. Listen to your body, if it wants to rest then rest.
Please take care x

Have a great day everyone, Dx

It's been such a bad week for me - I want a redo!!!!!!! I know there's no way to take back the last week but I sure would like to.......sighhhhhh I started out doing so well and then I let toxic family get in the way. I reverted back to old coping mechanisms and now am paying the price. Not sure if it's the reverse of detox (is there such a thing as retoxing??) or if I really do have a cold or the flue. I feel really bad.......all achy, massive headache and stuffy feeling nose PLUS have regained 3 lbs!! I am convincing myself that it's because of the relapsing into the non-exercising SAD world.
I would like to get moving today but since I feel so crappy I consider just laying still in bed to be about as active as I can get for today. Is this good or should I actually force myself to get up and go for a gentle walk outside?
I figure I just won't eat anything for a day or 2 - just do water and lots of it to flush the bad stuff out. Give my body a chance to recoup without having to digest food.
So having learned a lesson I'm looking forward to regain lost ground.
Hanging my head in shame.................:(

re-toxing...I like that! and I think it's sooooo true. Been there and done it too many times...I think we all have. I have been in the same boat since "recommitting" to raw in October....Just take each day, each meal if you must to be "as raw" as you can be. No one other than God is perfect and if high raw is what works for you than so be it....Same applies to exercise. We all have good intentions then this crazy thing called LIFE happens!!!! If you are able to fast I bow down to you....I have a hard time with that!!! (because of the running)....I do relate however as I am finding I am not having the TIME to do raw right....I know that sounds like an excuse but WHEN do you guys prepare your food???
I too need help!!! I am sooooo busy as a mom and teacher (and oh yeah wife!!!) that I don't feel like I have enough time to do it right!
Here's my typical "schedule":

3 am-wake up
4-6+ work out (run, etc...)
6-7:30 "Get ready"- myself + 5 kids who are pretty independent but underfoot
7:30-4:30 gone to school where there is NO DOWN TIME because I teach a combo special ed. + Kindergarten
4:30-5:+ errands or "mom Taxi"
5-6 dinner for the family + me (and I don't like to eat after 5/6 since I get up so early)
6-8 "mom taxi" + ??? school work, house work, "family time"
8-? try to sauna for 30 minutes so I can shower and hit the hay!
9-10 attempt to have SOME time with dh who works full time + is in college full time
10-light's out if not already!!!
Repeat daily!!!!!

OK, so whom can I hire to be a personal chef? Maybe I can pay my son who is a culinary student. I WANT to try new and yummy things but get extremely overwhelmed!!!!! I wish there was a raw restaurant around here or take out service available!!!!!!

Sorry this has been off-topic just want advice from my work out friends who understand time is a precious commodity!!!

NFRacer - Man I know what you mean about the time thing and preparing food! I don't know how you do it with 5 kids. Is your whole family raw? Having 2 (one of which is in kindergarten) makes me crazy enough! I eat lots of salads just for that reason. Sprouting and Dehydrating things takes a huge amount of planning and effort. I did more of that in the summer time when my schedule wasn't so busy. I am the only one who eats raw in my family so I think that makes things easier cause I eat very simply most of the time. Oh and Lara bars and bananas are a God send - A grab and go food! Sounds like most of us are in the same boat! My house - I would be horrified for anyone to drop by right now and the majority of the time this is the way it is! I am hosting small group this week at my house on Sunday and I have only a few days to get it presentable. I was able to get lucky enough to not host it for months so it was my turn. That means I also have to provide dinner. I think it will be pizza (and a garden salad) ordered in to cut myself so slack. Can you tell I am stressing!

If you figure out how to add more hours into a day let me know. I think that is the only way we can expect relief! But I do admire you and realized if you could do it and make exercise a priority with your schedule we all can do it! Something might give but what is really important? I put myself on the back burner for so many years not making myself (health) a priority and everyone suffered. Me especially cause I was so unhappy and my husband cause I was fat! THanks for pushing us and showing us this is hard work and being an example that we can get there if we want it bad enough!

Sorry I couldn't help you more with your question!:)

ski bummette - give youself a hug and cut yourself a break. You can always start a new tomorrow with you next meal. We all have situations that stress us out and don't go ideally! You have already realized and reflected on the matter so just move forward and don't dwell on it any longer. I hope you had a nice walk today and that you get back on track soon!:) Hang in there my friend!

Hey ski bummette

Hang in there, raw will help you recover faster. Today was my day off, but tomorrow will be my fast run. I'm looking forward to it and getting my ex. dehydrator that my husband is giving me for xmas. What a great hubby I have. By the by, I made the raw carrot cake on Sunday. Yummmmm!!! Oh and nfracer. I would love to have info on the race you talked about. Have a rawsome day everyone.:p

Morning folks

Wow, NFracer, how on earth do you keep that schedule up. I couldn't get up at 3 am if i tried, and running at 4am  If i were in your shoes i wouldn't hire a personal chef i'd hire a nanny and housekeeper:p You really are awsome.

Today is a scheduled 5 mile fartlek run with the girls. I'm feeling much better but my head is a bit fuzzy still so i'll play it by ear, we dont normally go out till 3pm. Thankfully the overwhelming tiredness has lifted and i was out of bed by 8am today but i dont want to run if i'm not feeling at least 75% as i know it will set me back. Better to have another rest day and be 100% tomorrow.

Hope everyone is well today, Denisex

Ski - please dont be so down on yourself...Ive been doing that alot lately & it has really done my head in :( I was even feeling guilty for buying a blender & dehydrator cos yesterday i just felt like I was a total failure as far as this healthy raw lifestyle is concerned & so Ive wasted loads of money buying equipment Im not using every day...blah...blah...blah...but that so isnt true...for me or you. We arent failing we are learning. I also have flu & a bad chest infection & have had to rest these last two days. Today i slept from 10am til 6.20pm:rolleyes: I obviously needed the rest & I bet you need the break too. Tomorrow is another day for both of us & Im betting it will be better:D

Hey guys. I did bikram yoga today. Totally felt tired and like going home for a nap but I told myself I had absolutely no excuse and that I just had to go no matter what. It totally kicked my butt, but I'm glad I did it. Need to get back in the groove so the heat doesn't kill me every time.

Hi Cindy and all of the other folks! I got my butt kicked tonight in "cardio boot camp" at my local health club. I've been paying for individual visits, but I finally made the commitment and signed up for a seven-month membership. :)

berrynice: That's fab... it makes such a difference to have a good pair of running shoes.

Well I'm back in the game now thanks to all your wonderful support and advice!:D :D :D Felt soooo much better today, since all my aches & pains and the massive headache are gone I've determined it was retoxing and not a cold or flu. Will have to make big sign and post on the table so I remember what will happen if I eat SAD again.
All is well in my world and that makes each day soooo much easier!! Got on the scale this morning (see I'm not afraid even after gaining the weight) and voila it was down that 3 lbs!! Sure hope it was 1-1/2 lbs off each hip!!
Then I got a phone call to say I'd won a spa basket at a hockey tournament we'd been to watch. DH was so hoping to win NHL hockey tickies. But nope......the win was all about me!! I get an hour massage, a gym bag, some protein powders, 10 visits to the gym and a couple of books....one is for men and the other is about fats. So now all I have to do is see if the gym will give me something for the visits since I have a membership there. Good news is that the massage is in a larger city 4 hours from us but we go there quite alot and I've got a year to use it and I'll plan a ski vacation around my massage (plus some major shopping therapy)!!
So on those happy notes I danced my way around the streets of town for 1-1/2 hrs this afternoon!! It was brrr cold but I didn't feel it I was so happy (plus earmuffs & gloves).

OK, game back on....I'm reading back through and seems we all go through our ebbs and flows! So I think
Today's Tip
should be

GO WITH THE FLOW:cool:

Raw is a journey, not a destination. So is exercise. We are not going to get to a certain point and say, there I made it. We all evolve in the process so we should just live in the moment and go with it. Tired? Rest. Energized? Run, Dance, do something!!!!! But moreover, try to enjoy this journey called life........Happy Trails

This is a good tip. I notice to in posts the eb and flow of the journey. I also need the reminder so that I do not get obsessive about Raw or Exercise. It is better to keep it all in perspective, and enjoy the Journey.

Today I am going to Weight train and go for a Jog.

I finally did it! I did laps at the "Y" after school in between school and home and came home a lot HAPPIER:D ....needed a transition between the two stressors and it was the ticket!
I am also "going with the flow" with my eating...I mean, I "went raw" for my health and gained it back....but then food somehow got complicated again. I think it's easy to get caught up in the variety of people here on this forum. There are many people setting out to lose a lot of weight, overcome health issues, etc... I lost sight for awhile and came back to raw desperate because I had gained weight. I have done a lot of thinking this week realizing I had become "obsessed" again on calories and fat and has it helped me lose weight? NO!!!!, but it sure has stressed me out.
I am planning on "going with the flow". I had even gone back to coffee ((hanging head in shame)) but am proud to say I have given it up (again) for 2 days now...and I know it is not raw and not good for me but it was my crutch! Rather than demand perfection I (AND WE ALL) need to "go woth the flow" in all aspects.... The funny thing is since I decided to "go with the flow" with my eating this week I have started "coming down". I am still 10 pounds higher than I'd like but am just going to take it off slowly if it's meant to come off it will. But I am through obsessing. "Just eat raw" is all I am concerned with.....so I shall

Myself? I dunno. I went to the boot camp class on Wednesday, and I'm so sore it hurts to climb the stairs in my house. Oucheee. But... I'm still planning on going back for more tonight. I did get my membership to the health club and everything. I'm hooked. Made the decision to work it. Done. :)

MY TIP FOR TODAY! DO SOMETHING FUN AND OUT OF THE ORDINARY SO IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE EXERCISE CAUSE YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING YOU ENJOY!
This could include dancing or bee bopping around your living room, taking a nice walk to see the great fall colors, a nice autumn bike ride, etc.

I myself am going to rollerskate for 2 hours with my daughter tonight! It is fun but doesn't seem like exercise to me cause I like it so much!:D

Have a great day guys!

Hello Beautiful Raw People!

I just wanted to check in and say hello! This has been a very amazing week indeed. My computer isn't set up yet since I moved a few weeks ago because I just don't have the time lately. I will actually have to schedule a day off so that I can attempt to unpack the numerous boxes that are still in my bedroom stacked up against a wall.

This has been a crazy, crazy week but I can't even fuss because it is really good to be alive and well. I had to get these mandatory immunizations on last Friday (not yesterday) and that didn't go over too well. Monday and Tuesday I didn't feel well. I had to rip and run all over the place to try to secure another practicum spot after the one I originally wanted was canceled. That was so stressful. One of my professor's suddenly died (blood clot) and we were all freaked out about it...so unexpected.

And to top it off, I was in a car accident; I was sitting in my car minding my own business and them "BOOM" a lady hit me from behind while I was sitting at the red light waiting for green...So needless to say, I haven't done any exercises over the past few days and I have only did a few mellow stretches today. I feel really stiff down my whole left side from the accident. It's funny how you don't feel things initially (I guess due to the adrenaline)..but man later that day, I sure did feel it. I hope to be back at exercising on Monday...

I'm typing really fast since I'm at the library. I hope this makes sense. All in all, no real whinning about it because it could always be worse. I'm glad to be alive. Take care of yourselves and I hope to be able to type on tomorrow.

Hi Guys

Lavender, look after yourself, you may have whiplash. Take it easy and stretch but if it's still bad tomorrow you may need to go to the doctor or physio.

I had the most awful migrane and sickness thursday had to go to bed at 7pm with a hot water bottle. Felt really fragile yesterday but improved by the evening. I was ok this morning so went out with my friends for a 14 mile run. It was round a reservoir called Bewl Water and it was beautiful, even though it rained alot!!.

Tomorrow is a rest day for me. Have a good day everyone, Denise x

What a Gorgeous Day in the FingerLakes ! The tress are still in fall colors, starting to fall quickly now. I bundled up, hat , gloves, two sweat tops and went jogging along the lake shore and then the bluff. GORGEOUS. I was surprised to see a Hunter in the State Park, glad he say me in my Yellow. I stopped at the Closed Park Station and saw a sigh that Bow and Mussel Loaded Guns are allowed until Dec 18th...so I think I will wear my Orange next time I jog outside ! or stick to the Indoor Cardio until Hunting season is over !

"Back to life, back to reality...." Yes, it's MONDAY morning and I'm singin' the blues! Why are Monday's so difficult for me? I don't know but I am trying to snap out of it.....I DID enjoy my week end! :p and EVERYONE is home safe and sound so I can be thankful for that. And even though Sunday is my rest day I did go for a 6 1/2 mile walk with a couple of friends on a very chilly but bright and sunny morning yesterday! and then I warmed up in the sauna.....aaaaahhhhh that was nice! I liked Morn's tip of making it fun! If it's not fun we won't stick to it right? So I'll be the teacher this a.m. Now for your morning lesson:

TODAY"S TIP!

"Studies show that exercise can increase your mental sharpness for 4-10 hours after your workout, a benefit you can really use at the start of your day.

Oxygen, not caffeine, is what your brain wants in the morning. So instead of reaching for the coffeepot, reach for your sneakers and you’ll get all the brain-boosting benefits you need.
Get up, get moving and get what you want out of your day."

How's that for Monday morning advice! Happy trails ladies!:D

Rawfigure what a beautiful place to walk. I walk alot but I must admit its around a town so not at all pretty most of the time. Im sure I would feel really inspired by the views you have, shame the hunters get to be there too.

I had a very active day yesterday - 6 hours solid exercising, some walking, alot of stair climbing, alot of lifting. I feel like ive been tuly kicked up the backside today LOL

Ive been back on track with raw food & my poxy detox has started again - woke up today with awful head cold, like a tap in my face :( so had to cancel my aqua classes AGAIN. its mad but I seem to be able to get regular exercise more easily when Im not fully raw. I wish I could just opt out of life for a month to break the back of the detox but unfortuately that is not an option for me.

Hi nfracer Im so sorry you are feeling bad today...I havent got any words of wisdom to offer about why we should keep on being raw except that somehow we do know it is the right path for us both.
You set your mind on becoming a marathon runner & you achieved it...this is truly awesome...you manage to survive a truly punishing schedule every day...I am in awe of you...I reckon you can & will achieve anything you set your sights on. I wish I could magically enable you to have much more rest time in your days but understand that you need to train hard.
I am also wondering how anyone loses weight on raw if they are eating nuts & all the badly combined raw recipes but they seem to...I am just not sure I am going to be one of those people...maybe this is the case for you too this time?
I have also been wondering if the great initial weight loss some experience is either due to coming from a primarily junk food background where any improvement in diet will cause weight loss or if it because the body cant initially digest & assimilate the raw foods so has to use stored fat for fuel?
I am having to trust Alissa's approach because I dont know enough of the science stuff to understand how it all works.
I hope you feel lots better real soon ;)

This detox stuff is driving me nuts, Ive had to cancel another whole day of plans/appointments cos Im a streaming mess of illness. I doubt my ramblings will help you but just wanted you to know Im there with you, reaching out to give you a hug.

LOL:D :D :D I DID wear my bright orange jacket for our walk yesterday. We all made fun of it the entire walk but in the end I made them thank me for saving their lives!!! If only we lived closer we could have walked together RF...one of these days!!!

We live so close, we have to do a week end visit on of these days. If you are Xmas shopping in Syracuse or the Waterloo Outlets let me know.

Today I will walk on the treadmill, it is raining. I am going to weight training every other day during my fast time. I get too hungry weight traing and cardio. I am doing the Whole Food Pharmacy LiquidPhi Diet. I like it as it is 7 different liquids every 2 hours. Not as boring as others I have tried.

Hey all~! I am posting to say, I finally found the energy to get up and exercise this morning.
My oldest DS (12) started with me with a 12 min. ab workout...then DD (7) wanted to do a workout too...so we pulled out an old "FIRM" workout, and did about 30 minutes, and then my middle child DS (10) COULD NOT be left out, and we did about 10 more minutes of the "FIRM"....
They wore me out, but it was a fun morning....now to get some housework done...today is a totally MOVING day!!!

Thanks for letting me post...I've been lurking, but because of a SUPER low Thyroid, my energy level has been in the negative.

Wendi
PS. I'm now on thyroid meds, waiting to feel better, and let God and eating RAW heal me!!

Crystalmoon----YOU have motivated me today and are right! I felt energized and my weight is down so I gave myself a "pep talk" while running and decided I owe it to myself and my family to re-evaluate my eating style lately...Turns out my "cutting corners" here and there have caught up with me. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I am surprised as H___ but am feeling good enough to do Day 2 of the Master cleanse and am feeling "cleansed" as the day goes on....feeling energized so I think I was just "mucking up" and becoming lethargic from the "backlog"...not meant to sound gross....emotional toxins are as bad as food. I feel my body and food lightening!!! I had a great run this a.m. and plan on x-training tomorrow....I'd like to do MC until I'm back down to 140 but THANKSGIVING is Thursday and I AM HOSTING the SAD food for family and friends. They all know I eat raw but if I FASTED they would freak!!!! unless I play hookie nausea! We'll see....Maybe I'll break my fast that afternoon with a melon/fruit salad! ????? What are the rest of you doing?

RF-I need to figure out WHEN I am finding the time to shop! Also, I do a lot on-line....However, we could meet somehow???? Gotta convince the dh's to meet as well now don't we...?????thinking on it!

Happy trails!

Di - I know what you mean about thanksgiving and fasting. I too wish I were fasting right now but I figure I will let the holiday go by before I do that. Maybe the first part of December would be good to pick up on it again for both of us. I say enjoy your holiday with your friends and family and just eat raw. I am still trying to figure out what I am making for me. I too am cooking the SAD dinner for my family and friends. I think I will make a blueberry pie for me, a salad and don't know what else at this point. Hum - time to search for some good recipes on this site!:D I too need some ideas.

Rest day for me today, hubby was home so he came to do the weekly shopping with me. He couldn't believe the amount of fruit and veg I buy!! And its me who eats almost all of it!....And I've lost another 3lbs this week - Thats 12lbs in 2 weeks! I cant believe i've lost anything as I only did 2 runs last week due to illness.

I'll be out for a 6 mile run tomorrow (in the wind and rain) and looking forward to loosing a couple more pounds next week!

NF Racer, dont be hard on yourself, you achieve so much every single day. I'm sure most of us couldn't keep up with your domestic routine let alone the running as well - PLUS inspiring all of us everyday.

Can you still run while you do the master cleanse I've never done it but i've heard of it, aren't you supposed to take it easy and rest when you do those things? I've just got the liver and gallbladder miracle cleanse by Andreas Moritz from amazon, i cant wait to get those stones out!

I really only planned on a day of MC cuz I thought I'd have no energy but the maple syrup must be the ticket because today was my 2nd day. I ran 11 miles this a.m., worked (teaching kindergarten!!! ) all day + swam 40 minutes-laps at the YMCA after school! and my only "hunger" is habit! I don't eat after 6 so getting home at 5 helped....I'm a bit hungry now but my dh is baking pies and stuff for Thanksgiving (I am bombarded daily trust me!!!!!) and it's the smells wafting through....but Biggest Loser is on so I am inspired and watching them!!!! I think doing MC for an extended period of time would be hard for running but who knows? Has anyone else ever exercised through the MC?????

Sorry I've been MIA.... but I'm reporting for duty coach!!! been busy with hula -- everyday -- hours of it --- everyday and I am sore and tired...

I will make it a point to check in more often though!

I am completely impressed that you exercised during the MC! I have read many testimonys of people doing so - and I am amazed. My personal experience with the MC... I was wiped out -- lots of energy - but for 'light' things -- any real workouts or extensive hula workouts and I would get dizzy!

After Sunday (graduation day) my hula work out will lessen to one day a week for 4 hours rather than 2 to 6 hours a day right now... :D I am thankful for that!! (oh for those that didn't know - I'm going thru a very intense ceremony called Uniki on Sunday - I will be tested and have to perform in order to be recognized as "Olapa"... or dancer by the Kumu Hulas of the Islands.... whew... ) it's exciting -but I will be glad when it is over!!!!!!!! :D

Thanksgiving, with SAD family is difficult task :( , especially when I, we, are hosting ! I am doing the meats :( , and soups. I left the side dishes and deserts for Guests to bring. Thankfully I was never a "Turkey and fixings" Fan.

I too am doing mostly liquid fast (plus 2 banana today). Tomorrow I plan to do liquid fast and Thursday till Dinner at 2:00. I am going to do a raw corn chowder and salad for me. If I end up with a few bites of cooked so as not to raise a "discussion " at the Table, I will and not stress about it.

StarFire-I am in awe of what you do, utterly impressed and envious as I shiver here in northern new york....Alas, I will report to you after my first cross country snow skiing of the winter & or snowshoeing escapades!!!! Learning to hula sounds like so much fun! I assume you are an instructor? (sorry, I was away from the forum for awhile).....Best of luck with your impending certification!

RF-We too are eating at 2 pm...cheers:rolleyes:

I feel so good with the MC and cannot believe I have completed 2 days. I want to keep going through the week but am thinking MC until dinner for the remainder making "dinner" either melon or a few bananas???? including tomorrow where ALL eyes will be  my way! Who cares though right? My house, my body. I am just afraid if I make some fancy raw dish it will not sit well with my body and I'll repeat my downward spiral all over again!!!! I'm "releasing" so much in the form of toxins, etc....I just want to keep going until I know my intestines are squeaky clean! Then, the plan is to reintroduce raw the correct way, not cutting corners as I'd become so masterful at! I vowed to myself to re-read Alissa's book (which I am doing!) and give myself till the end of the month to figure out my dietary plan...raw/not raw that is the question! I have been on and off this fence so many times I think I have a wedgie....Now that the fog is clearing from my brain (thank you MC) I am RELUCTANTLY admitting to myself and my body that raw is right for me. And I have been a skeptic so if I can do it anyone can. I think my hubby is going to do the MC too......AFTER Thanksgiving of course....But hey, I love him so even if it's not for a few days I'm proud he's willing to take that baby step!!!

I am "cross-training" today (did I mention my sore right heel?) and think I'll head to our YMCA in town since they open up here in a bit. Never gone in this early on a work day but I have the day off so I hope to use the elliptical, stairmaster, and weights before coming back here to sauna! Have a blessed day ladies!

Did anyone watch Biggest Loser last night? I would love to someday be a "trainer" on that show and have MY TEAM eat raw foods only! Can you imagine? That would be awesome!!!!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot Today's Tip which has turned into more of a

"Thought for the week"

{{Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow.”}}

Have the courage to be who you are this week without compromising your principles! If you do decide to do something different or try something new foodwise and it doesn't sit well. That's ok. Tomorrow the sun will rise again and you can too!

Good luck!

Are you kidding? First of all, trust me, they never go away!! Second, you are "Super Parent"! I showed my husband your schedule and told him I was in awe. I wish I'd been so organized and active - I wish I could get there now! You are amazing and I'm so impressed that with your more-than-full plate that you MAKE time for yourself, your health, your exercize. You are truly to be admired. Those things make for a very good parent. Having "been-there-done-that" with raising a house full, I can tell you that when you don't make time for yourself and take care of yourself you are not doing anyone any favors. I always thought that I didn't have time...blah, blah. All just excuses. My children did not grow up with a good example of how to take care of themselves and how to be healthy. You are my hero!!

Today I'm busy working and so I am doing like 50 minutes of work and then for the last 10 minutes of each hour I will do 10 minutes of exercise (100 jumping jacks, 25 squats, some ab work, some stretches, bicep/triceps/chest/shoulder/back work, and just some jumping around like a nut doing a variety of kicks)...

It's not the routine I wanted for this month but I figure it beats nothing and with 4 hours of work, I figure I could get at least 40 minutes of something in by the end of my four hour work session. My workouts change almost on a daily basis...but creativity, that is my nature I guess. The accident threw me for a loop and I really hope to push myself harder than ever next month as I close out the year and look forward to new beginnings.

So Glad to see everyone else busy striving....you give me inspiration at a time when it is much needed

Happy Wednesday!

Today’s exercise: 1 hour of total conditioning (with weights) – now I am very sore! I probably will have a hard time moving tomorrow. This class kicked my butt literally! I know I needed it but I am not looking forward to doing more of them. The class is every Wednesday at the gym (my day off) so I could do another next week but after this class not sure if I want to. We'll see if I can move tomorrow or not.

Been going strong with the training. Didn't get into the London Marathon so have entered one in Stratford - upon - Avon (shakesperes county) instead for 27th April. Gotta up the training now.

NF, have you thought about aqua running with one of those float belt thingys?

Crystalmoon, wow 7 hours walking. Are you feeling better now? I must do some ab work to, not too wobbly but just very weak so i get back ache running.
