Okay all you rawkin' rawbies...who's up for making this a totally raw November INCLUDING Thanksgiving?
I am! If I could manage a month raw it would be huge for me. I usually go for two weeks and then fall off. But with support from others it might work.
My goal is to get rid of menstruationcramps and a longlasting throatinfection.
Thanks for starting this thread:)

Last month didn't go so well for me. The past 2 weeks I gained like 6 pounds from eating junk food. I think it was the switch from cozy warm summer weather to cold autumn that did me in. But now it's time to work on my health again, so let's eat raw! :)

Hi Im in...I hear you Mona I also only seem to manage two weeks raw at a time then I crave cooked veggies...swede & turnips mashed! I need to find some good raw recipes for these two veggies cos they are a main staple in the UK during winter. I usually try to eat local seasonal produce as much as possible but for the raw challenge Im allowing myself to have any raw foods so hopefully I wont feel deprived.
Im gonna be heavily relying on Alissa's book & dvd & you guys!
I have at least 56 lbs to lose to reach the top end of my correct BMI

I am ready to take the plunge, but have a couple of questions. Im a nanny and the family are sad eaters and so is my family. They leave me no room in the fridge for my fruits and veggies. Any suggestions on how i can stay 100% through all of this.
Get a little dorm room refrigerator. Sometimes families will provide a little fridge too.

I just signed up for this chat- I have been officially raw since Sept. 28- I transitioned in the first 2 weeks with some steamed brown rice and broccoli a few times, but other than that, I have been all raw...I think about eating some of the food I make at work or for my family, but I am honestly to scared to eat it- I don't want to go back!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the nanny- I am a nanny too, plus I cook for this family and my own- earlier this year I bought a big lunchsack, meant to take a few sixpacks camping. It has a shoulder strap and holds all my munchies for the day. You can slip an icepack in it and just stick it in the corner.
I am lucky- my nanny family eats really well and the mom is my biggest support- often she sees me doing something for myself and follows my example. She lets me make my green juices n smoothies-and I got her hooked on green smoothies! I cant even drink those yet, I strain mine (no juicer yet), but she likes to chew her drink!:D She loves the raw snacks I bring, too, and so does the baby:) Maybe your good example will motivate the mom to change her habits, if only for the sake of the kids. My nanny mom isn't wanting to be raw, but she is very concerned that they get organic meat...I got the kids on hemp milk, from cows milk when I started here....we buy more organic produce....and the kids eat more almond butter, raw cheese, and raw snacks .....goldfish got thrown out! All from mom taking my cues and doing her own reading...ok, I brought the hempmilk over, but the kids love it more than the soy!
Glad to meet all of you, good luck this month- this is my first raw holiday, I can't wait!

I'm new to this site (posted an intro on the welcome board) but not new to raw. This will be my first month 100% all raw though. I'm excited, I've got all my fave raw recipes marked in Alissa's book and looking forward to getting support from this site.

alright i am in. i have not had any problems being raw since last may but in the last 3 weeks i cann't seem to go more than a week without cravings. i'm sure it's because it's getting colder.
i just have to be lest restrictive over the variety of raw, make some more dehydrated foods and i think i'll get through the winter.

Last month i lasted only 9 days entirely raw in a row. it's been a few days since another full raw day - i'm ready to do 30 days -
my dad is having surgery tomorrow to get two cancer lumps removed. i know he has them because of his diet:( - so that is a huge motivator to be raw (and to get him to be raw!)
OH and my boyfriend is now mostly raw, so that's AWESOME! :D

November 1st will make it 3 weeks since I re-entered the raw world. I've done really well....totally raw the first 2 weeks but sadly twice this week I surrendered to the SAD veggie burger for dinner along with my raw salads as well as having a couple of meatballs when I made dh spaghetti w/meatballs. I'm not sure why:confused: ......but at least I didn't beat myself up about it.
So now I'm committing to 100% raw for November. Thankfully I won't have a Thanksgiving to get thru....:D but sure could use some special recipes to help me with Christmas dinner.
so here's cheering us all on.......RAW RAW RAW!! We're all gonna become rawbabealious!

My 9-tray Excalibur arrived today. I think it'll help me get to 100% raw consistently. I really miss breads and warm foods.
I have the first batch of goodies in right now. I go to sleep in another 1/2 hour, and then voila -- in the morning, a warm breakfast!
By the way, I just signed up for this forum, & this is my first message. I'll post an introduction soon! Very tired now - goodnight to all - and much success to all in November!!

Rawchicster, if you decide to make Thanksgiving non-raw, that is your prerogative but please do not disclose any details of it in the challenge thread.
BoraDeb, basically you check in daily (or whenever you can) and you can write about what you've eaten each day (RAW only please), any changes you're feeling, any detox symptoms and you can ask for support or suggestions on how to deal with cravings, etc. The goal is to be 100% raw for 30 days - slip-ups may or may not occur (or in some cases, even actual conscious decisions to eat something non-raw)...but if they do, as the challenge rules indicate, please do not disclose that info here...we want to keep things raw-related in the monthly challenge threads. That's all!
Great to see so many participating - RAWK ON!!

First time posting. I live in rural Iowa. None of my coworkers or friends are raw vegans. I could sure use all your support and good advise/tips. Have had some problems lately staying 100% raw vegan. I know I can get back on track with your help. Have been learning so much from this discussion board which I found recently. Count me in for the November Challenge!!!!!

could you buy a mini-fridge and keep it in your bedroom? Sounds a bit unreasonable for them not to leave you any room at all, but maybe this would work. You can get small box-sized ones for around $100...
Good luck!
Also, I've been raw since Monday, so hopefully I will continue through November. I will do my best to post every day but I don't always get on line.
Here's to a raw November and beyond!

I am trying so hard to think and buy raw. I went to the store and bought health food non-raw foods like Morningstar egg tofu quiche and their soy sausage and kettled taro chips and some SAD foods like cheese potato skins and buffalo wings. Since I eat 70% raw, after a few bites, the stuff tasted like crap to me. I wasn't sure if I should throw it away and just forgive myself for spending $20 on food I can't eat or should I give it away? Well, I will through away the SAD stuff, because I should give people stuff I wouldn't eat myself. But I will give away the healthier cooked foods.
I feel so awful, because I did this the day before the raw challenge without realizing that I can't eat that stuff. Sunday I will go over my grandmother's house and I will give her my non-raw foods.
This 100% raw thing will take a lot of prayer. I am already freaking out on what I will do for Thanksgiving!

Since going raw in June of this year it's been great every month....except for October....wasn't very Rawktober...:P
sniff...sniff....:(
So back on track!!:D
And I have set some new goals this time. I have also just started the Dr.Natura colon cleanse and Detox kit. Only on day 6 as of tomorrow Nov 1. No significant "happenings" yet......
Also my goal is to get back on the yoga track. I hurt my wrist about 6 months ago and haven't been able to practice. Whoa do I need it. I feel so stiff and my fibromyalgia is killing me!!!
So...November will be 100% raw, yoga and detox.
I'm like Trinity who posted at the beginning of the thread....it's baby making time. But gotta wait until after the three months colon cleans/detox is done because of the herbs used...not recommended for pregnant women.

Okay rawbies...this is DAY ONE of our November Challenge! I know many of you are concerned about the holiday, but please check out our recipe section as there are a LOT of raw Thanksgiving ideas and suggestions! I may bump some of them up for those that need them. Also, as a reminder, in these challenge threads we do NOT post our "slip-ups" and any cooked foods that may be consumed. The goal is to TRY and refrain from cooked food...but stuff happens - however, we don't want to focus on that but rather pick up, dust off, and get right back on. Hey Hey Hey Everyone!
Cabosun and Saltywater-
Enjoy your journey and just take it day by day
I think I'm keeping it simple....
7 a.m. raw hemp protein banana smoothie
10:00a.m. - some sort of fruit (haven't decided yet what I want)
1 p.m. - 2 veggie wraps (a raw wrap filled with some shredded romaine, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado slices and horseradish sauce)
4 p.m. - handful of nuts (maybe cashews or maybe brazils)
that's all I got so far; If I can make it happen, I'm taking a salad with me for class tonight- hopefully I'll have time to make one before I have to fly out of here; made my wraps last night
happy happy day everyone

lavendarj - you are really prepared! Good for you. Preparation is the key to success with raw - although I have made some good meals with just an avocado, onion, and tomatoe. It is incredible to me how easy it can be to eat raw when keeping it simple. I like to do the wraps too - you can put anything in there raw - and adding some flax oil and raisins too really makes it taste almost gourmet (to me anyway).
To anyone who feels concerned about Thanksgiving: Please don't freak out about Thanksgiving. I am cooking this time and will have both my mom (my father passed away this June so it will be a difficult first Thanksgiving for us without him) and my mil with us (who has Alzheimers) and both do not 'get' my lifestyle (but my mom is supportive anyway). I am just taking it one raw day at a time. I plan to look up the raw recipes and prepare, prepare, prepare. My PLAN is to eat raw and that is all I am focusing on. This will be the first Holiday for me raw and I am a bit concerned but with everyone's support we are lucky to be here and have each other.
I hope everyone has a wonderful raw day today.

Day 1--Hoorah! Starting out with my usual GS and have been adding unpasturized frozen Acai. Seems to give me an extra boost or longer energy.
Am taking a salad to work for lunch. Will make a raw soup for dinner when I get home. Have some asparagus that I'd like to make into a different recipe or awsome spicy soup. Will check for some recipes later.
Good luck to everyone today.

I actually recommitted to raw on Monday night with a 24 hour fast.
Last night while the girls were out T-or-Ting I was handy out candy while making Raw Pumpkin pie. (Kinda oxymoron-like to hand out candy while preparing great food for myself?) I had some left over filling and threw them in the dehydrator to make a few pumpkin cookies. I'll let you know how everything tastes later.
This morning I started off with 2 big oranges for breakfast. I always feel so good (energized yet calm) when I'm raw, it's crazy that I ever slip up....? This time I'm changing my thoughts about how much food I CAN have as opposed to what I CAN'T have, and I'm going to make sure I eat enough raw to not get hungry. I'm also not going to focus on my lack of kitchen experience, but instead embrace the learning.
My last weigh-in was Sun or Mon morning (can't remember) but I was 171.5! Ouch  - haven't seen that in over 3 years.

I thought I posted in the sign up link, but it must not have gone through. Anywho, I excited for my first challenge!
Today was day one for me, it wasn't bad!
Breakfast I had a green smoothie
Lunch was a spinach salad from a recipe I just found here
Dinner was cabbage carrot salad from rawvolution
snacks were raw nuts, apples, pears, and one ani's donut hole
Did not drink enough water today, need to work on that. I even got in some rollerblading! Don't want to overdo it so, tomorrow I will just walk.
Have a great day!

Morning everyone! I'm working on posting every day this month. I made the cinnamon raisin bread last night, so I have that and my green smoothie for breakfast. I brought soup for lunch and an orange for snack. Dinner will be a salad or guacamole and jicama (I slice it and use it as my chip for dipping). It's gotten so much easier. Really not stressing over what my next meal will be anymore. It's really just routine now. Loving it!! Hope everyone has a good day.

It's SO nice to see everyone posting here! :D
I started out today with a fruit smoothie made by my oldest son. He's 11, loves being raw, and has SO much fun in the kitchen.
I've got almonds dehyrdating, and I need to get some pistachio's soaking. I'm gonna have a WHOLE BUNCH of seasoned nuts and seeds here shortly. Only problem is, I have to hide them from EVERYONE (especially me:o ) if I want them to last more than five minutes in this house! We all can't help it! They're just so dang good! :D
Hope everyone has a GLORIOUS raw day!:D

I have been dealing with an awful rash since October 22nd. It first started on my neck and then spread to my face and around my eyes. My race and neck then turned bright red, like one big whealt. My face feels tight and itchy at this time.
My doctor saw me last Thursday and actually thought the rash was amusing. He said, "Wow, you have one big whealt!" Then prescribed Predinsone and Atarax. He said I'm allergic to something. Don't know what.
The rash recently spread from my neck down to my torso, including my back, even after taking the meds, it is worse. I feel awful! I plan to call my doctor today to let him know it has not improved, in fact it is worse.
I'm a nurse and I work 12 hour nightshifts, luckily I am in my four day off period, then this weekend I go back to work, two on, one off and then three on.
Since my rash started I have been drawn to raw food sites. I learned about raw foods awhile back, but never tried it. Now I am really drawn to it. I feel this is the way I need to go, to heal and feel great.
I have and awful addiction to junk foods and I feel this is causing lots of my problems.
I need this challenge, 30 days to commit to this diet may be the only way I can truly heal. Please let me join.

Yep, I'm here and ready to clean house in November. Instead of Spring cleaning it's Fall cleaning! My goal is to spend the rest of 2007 getting my priorities aligned so that I can soar into 2008 well on my way to better health and energy. This means forgetting the past and forgetting the "New Years Resolutions" that have never worked for me. It means being accountable now. Each day is a new opportunity to reinvent ourselves and create the life we dream. :)

As of right now I'm going to try to make it the whole month. I've tried in the past but not with much success. I live at home still and my family are all SAD eaters, as is my fiance. So I don't usually last too long.
My goal with the raw diet is to clear up my acne and lose a few extra pounds.

:D Hi All Im in the UK & its about 3pm now & im feeling great;)
8am - warm water with freshly squeezed lemon juice
small banana
11am - small mango
1.30 - ginger larabar
3pm - medium apple
Plus water, water, water LOL
For my main meal I will have either flax crackers or onion bread with seed pate & sprouts or Alissa's falafel with salad.
Im not referring to this as a diet cos dieting in the past has never been about loving myself...infact diets have always been a self harming exercise for me:eek:
Instead this is the start of my new life & is not just about food but is about learning to love myself in so many other ways too.
Today I have had so many firsts like taking the time to spend 30 minutes reading raw books before getting out of bed & 'entering' the day as a way to focus my INTENTION for the day. Rebounding for 30 minutes then dry skin brushing before my shower, then taking the time to self massage with raw cocoa butter after. I felt AWESOME after taking this time to show my body I do love her & I am sorry for abusing her for all these years. It feels like she is humming a happy tune, I feel very ALIVE. Yeah:D
Hello everyone!
Day one...feeling good except for sore throat.
Ivé bought a pumpkin. What to do with it? juice?

First day raw (I'm a complete raw newbie), and am currently tucking into a broccoli, salad and cashew nut salad - which tastes so good.
Breakfast was a banana and strawberries, and for the rest of the day I've had another banana, a satsuma and a Nakd raw bar. Need to check out some recipes to try. Keep posting what you're eating, I love to see what others are having and to get more inspiartion.

AND SO CAN ALL OF YOU:D

11-01-2007, 11:08 AM
After feasting on SAD food last night I am wiping the slate clear and beginning the November Challenge.
Breakfast
6AM-Water with lemon juice
11AM-Banana
I've been drinking organic Tulsi Tea all morning. Instead of heating it I just put the tea bag in a mug with a lid, added cold water and shook it a bunch. I just keep refilling it and shaking. Someone on the board recommended this tea for stress and seriously I feel like I am in a daze, I am so mellow & peaceful (mind you I NEVER feel like this while I am at work).
Lunch & Snack
Red Pepper strips with hummus
Kale salad with tomatoes and red onion with raspberry vinagarette
Last night I got some raisins and nuts I ordered so I am currently soaking almonds and cashews. When I get home I am going to make some "mashed potatoes & gravy" and some cornbread mostly because I have corn and cauliflower that I need to use before it goes bad but also as a test for Thanksgiving.

Well, I'm really going to do this! My first day raw.
For breakfast: I had juiced 6 organic carrots, one apple and one pear, thick frothy and very yummy!
For lunch I plan to have a mango and avocado salad with olive oil lemon dressing.
Dinner will be a salad of romaine, endive, shredded carrots, radicchio, cranberries, almonds and a simple dressing
I will drink lots of water and snack on dried blueberries and cranberries.
Saturday I plan to go shopping, before work, long work week ahead.
I love reading everyones posts. Great meal planning!

You must have a really big family??? What are you going to do with so many onions? What???? I have never ever had anybody notice my cart when it was full of SAD crap. Sad state the human race is in.
Breakfast: fresh squeezed orange juice & green juice with apple and lemon
Snack: celery sticks with sunflower seed cheeze
Lunch: Huge salad with Alissa's French dressing and mango
Dessert: 4 dates
Made some bluberry pie that will be dinner and got some onion bread going in the dehydrator

Am so glad to be here on this challenge. Feel so energized and focused this month. Made Pad Thai for lunch out of my kelp noodles and it is fantastic. Used a small amount of chili past which may not be raw, but this will be on my to have often list for sure.

I'm getting a late start, just found you today. Well, I just put my coffee maker into dry storage and did a quick inventory of the produce in my fridge. I've got lots of carrots for juicing and salad fixings. Anyone got any ideas for lunches that aren't a salad? If I'm juicing or smoothie for breakfast and big salad of some sort for dinners, there are some days I don't want a salad for lunch ... thoughts? Also, I don't currently own a dehydrator, I know it's important to get one with temp control that goes below 110, does anyone know of one that won't break the bank?

Hey all!
Summer: Funny story about people making comments about what is in your cart. I have one to go with it:
On Sunday, we ate lunch with my parents and my sister and her hubby. I made this LARGE salad with everything fresh my parents had in their fridge...it consisted of: brocolli, salad greens, and an apple. It filled up a nice size bowl, and my sister comments, "There sure is alot of stuff in that bowl!! " Well, noone commented on the huge bowls of brunswick stew they were eating, along with cornbread, and later ice cream. Well, as my sister was filling up a LARGE mug of ice cream I say, "Gee, that sure is alot of ice cream you are putting in there!! "
RJL: So sorry to hear of your loss!!! Welcome back!!
Today I have had:
a green smoothie
a handful of deh. almonds
some deh. zuke chips!!
Need more h20!!!

In preparation for Thanksgiving, I would like to know how to get a pumpkin/butternut squash pie smooth.....will the contents go through a regular blender? Last time I made one, it was kinda "crunchy". What is the best way to get it blended until smooth?? I also could run it through my juicer with a blank on....what works best for someone who doesn't have a heavy duty vitamix???
Thanks...NOVEMBER RAWKS!!

Wendi,
Good question on smooth pumpkin pie filling. You sound on the right track to put in the juicer with a blank. When I make nut butters, I kind of get them ground in my food processor and then feed through my juicer with a blank. Feed through 4-5 times for a pretty smooth nut butter. If it is still not as smooth as you like, maybe then put it in your blender for a little while to see if any improvement. Sure sounds good to try. Too bad yams turns color so fast or I would probably try one of those.

Today was fabulous. I love it. Not hungry, completely satisfied. After I got home from work, went to jazzercise, shower then had fun not cooking. I made alissa's mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy and I got some cornbread in the dehydrator. Cant wait to taste it!!!
Tomorrow I have to go to a business lunch. This will be my first time to a restaurant since being on/off raw for the past month. I scoped out the menu online and found a salad I can get and I am going to bring my own dressing. Afterwards I have some hummus left over from today that I am going to have with carrots. I think this will be just fine.
Yay, I feel so good.

Hi Folks,
Congrats to everyone on having a great Day 1.
I'm just getting in from school and I've been on the run all day (tues n thurs are the worst 4 me)
anyhoo, I had a big bowl of flax cereal (I make a huge batch every wknd in my dehydrator) its ground flax with whatever nuts I have on hand - chopped up almonds, and walnuts this time, lumped up and dehydrated with honey and sometimes, I'll add blueberries or raspberries. So yummy.
I ate that with almond milk and a little agave (have a sweet tooth that I'm working on :(
Anyway, that kept me content all day long and all I had was lots of water throughout the day, with some lemon water in the afternoon. Tonite when I got home I made a huge green smoothie. I juiced cabbage and cucumber then blended in a handful of red grapes and 1/2 banana, broccoli, garlic, spirulina and water. This is my 1st green smoothie ever. I used the veggies and fruit I have on hand (payday is on Thurs wooo!) Anyhoo, the cabbage was kinda overpowering, but the banana and grapes gave it some balance. It was weirdly delicious with just a hint of yuck... I think I just have to get used to drinking my veggies as a smoothie - I'm so used to fruit smoothies, but that's the thing about this journey there's always some new food adventure right on the horizon. AND the more I drank, the more it grew on me and I LOVE what this is doing for my body ;) Till 2morrow!

I'm back for the challenge- I got off track on the 20th of October and fell back into my old patterns- so, as they say, if at first you don't succeed... try, try again! Eventually I'm gonna get this right! This time!!!! No time like the present, right? I am going to 'officially' start 100% on Saturday the 3rd due to a 'situation' tomorrow, Friday, but I wanted to get my self on the list, get my head in the right place (RFT!) and join the fun! Looking forward to this!!:D

Good Morning All
Detox has begun! Woke up all bunged up with mucous, sweaty, hair greasy etc. Also got a wierd red mark along the inside of my lower right arm...looks like a hot water burn, its got that splashed look about it. ODD May be I was burned there once but I cant remember it so if I was it must have been along time ago.
Ive done two weeks raw a few times & each time the detox comes quicker;)
Just had soaked prunes & gojis for breakfast and taken second oral dose of collodial silver, also sprayed it in my ears cos they are soooooooo itchy today (forgot to put it in my post yesterday).

Good Morning RAWbies :)
I like to start my day with a very easy, quick, RAWlicious drink. Using one of those small hand citrus squeezers I like to make some fresh citrus juice right after getting up. Its better then a cup of coffee for giving my body what it needs to start the day. Recently I got a bunch of really nice tangerines on sale so thats been my quickie breakfast for the last few days. YUMBO :)

Starting my day with a green smoothie with Acai. Ten times better than coffee used to be. Whipped up creme of asparagus soup for lunch and am taking a couple apples and small avos for snacking or in case I get hungry before I leave work. Will be having mock salmon or sunny pate for dinner in collard rollups with lots of veggies. Rollups seem to be one of my favorite things and one I never get tired of eating.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Day 2
I am so glad it is friday because then I'll actually have time to make some interesting recipes. As I said last night I have some mashed potatoes with gravy and cornbread waiting for me for dinner.
For breakfast I made some kind of delish slop. I put a banana, strawberries, raspberries and kale in my FP and turned it into a creamy oatmeal like consistency. Topped it with 3 kinds of grapes. FABULOUS!
For lunch I have to go out to eat for work (first raw outing). I am going to get a salad. Brought my own dressing:)
For a snack later I have an apple and some carrots with hummus.
woo hooo day two!
day one went great, i even had to goto a party with lots off cooked vegan food and i didn't feel tempeted at all.
my dinner last nite was celery dipped in left over miso-based dipping sauce and some raw cheese, along with a big glass of unpastureized apple cider.
have a rawsome day everyone.:D

And today's dessert -- banana & date ice cream topped with hemp seeds

Hi everyone day 2 all raw :)
Had alot of fruit today: apple, banana, 2 papaya.
Also nori rolls with seed pate & herby salad inside...I love how quick & satisfying these are.
Dessert was a small piece of Jennifer Cornbleet's flourless chocolate cake. I had it on its own, it was very rich. Think I will make a fruit sauce to go with it next time I have some to calm down the chocolateyness (is that a word LOl).

So sorry....
so I had a "burger" and "fries" for dinner lastnight. I love this raw stuff!
Today so far 2 liters of green smoothies...and about 2 liters of water.
I don't have time at work to really sit and eat a meal so my green smooties really help out with that.
Tonight I think it is seatangle noodles with either pesto sauce or marinara sauce....what do you think?

Day two and I am doing fine. I spend a night at my grandmother's and even though it was heavy, I carried a bag of fresh veggies and fruit so I can make sure I had a raw dinner that day and breakfast the following day.

Breakfast: Fruit smoothie
Lunch: Big salad
Snack: Apple
Dinner: Hmmmm...not there yet, but I know it will be good.
BTW, my exercise goal is 35 miles of walking per week. I use a treadmill 3 miles in the morning and then walk to and from work M-F for about 3 miles. And I will need to pick up 5 miles over the weekend. With weather like this, it will be easy.

Ha! Just figured this thing out. I get lost on forums - sort of like I get lost in track home neighborhoods. So! I missed yesterday. But that's okay, I ate the same thing today as yesterday.
3 green smoothies (lots of spinach and a kiwi, coconut water, soaked date, frozen banana)
soaked almonds & cashews
a couple dates
some zucchini hummus and cucumber sticks
lots of water with lemon or lime juice
I don't know why, I just don't really feel like eating much. But love the green smoothies. I made a lot more food for going into work, but didn't want to eat it. I was practically gagging on the salad I made - couldn't even chew it, just had to spit it out. I don't think it tasted bad, either. Pretty weird. And I keep walking around looking for food to eat, then not wanting to eat anything. I did a great job of cleaning out the refrigerator in preparation for going to the farmer's market tomorrow, though.
I'm almost 3 weeks all raw. Maybe this is just another level of detox somehow?
Well, the first snow has fallen on Sweden. It is a very white and beautiful morning. Yesterday evening I had SO much energy! I had to dance around in the kitchen while making salad. Do you remember what it was like to be a child and have so much energy that you have to run all the time? It was a little bit like that, and I think that feeling will come back more and more if you eat raw and exercise and so on...
Have a great day everyone!

A Good Morning to All Of You Here,
Mona,
There is something magical about that first fallen snow. I remember as a child how we used to go outdoors and catch those beautiful flakes on our tounges and then dance around and make snow angels. Well gues what? I am starting to feel more and more like a child again on this raw food lifestyle. I am feeling that energy that I used to have as a child. It is just amazing!:)
I am having my warm lemon water right now and soon I will start my engine and go and exercise. So my eating plan for the day is this......
Breakfast is a green smoothie
Lunch is a nice veggie tray with my homemade raw hummus
Dinner is going to be raw spaghetti al pesto
If I feel the need for a snack it will be a raw food bar today.
I will not be able to post tomorrow, as I am heading to the cottage today and do not have internet access.
Everyone make it a great day:)

Good morning all.
Mona, your post had me instantly back to my childhood looking out the back window of the house to a pristine fairyland forest of completely untouched snow (not even a bird had left its tiny footprints). What a great blessing to have grown up just like I did. Thank you for your thoughtful thread.
Cabosun, hope your time at the cabin brings you reflection and joy.
Saltywater, awsome that you are raw during your pregancy--what a wonderful gift to give your child and your family.
I love being on this board and learning so much from each person here.
Could not sleep so got up to read and then decided to check out the site. Have been starting the day with awsome GS's and going from there. Putting in unpasturized, frozen Acai and feel a little more energized with the addition. Rotating the greens as have read that was important for a solid nutritional profile. Do have favs that I will probably always gravitate toward, though.
Working a second job on the weekends to help pay for Tess' surgery (my beloved Springer Spaniel). She's quite the character.
Anyway--today is GS for a.m., packing fruit and nuts (no twigs today) for lunch and back home for dinner--it will be Gazpacho as I made it last night to have nice and chilled for today. Need to get my salmon pate going, too.
Hope everyone has a rawlicious day! So glad to be here.

Welcome to day 3. I think this month is going to fly by. It really seems like I just signed up for the November challenge like a few hours ago haha.
Anywho, it is 7AM and I just had a glass of lemon water. Saturdays are my crazy work out days because there are 3 classes in a row at my gym. I'll start off with some cardio kickboxing at 8AM, strength training at 9, and jazzercise at 10. Everyone in jazzercise is always like "HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU DO 3 CLASSES IN A ROW" and I totally credit it to being raw. I come out of the classes each week and I still have tons of energy. I usually come home and go to the farm market and buy all my veggies for the week, but since we are getting the effects of the hurricane I think I will just be going to Sam's Club.
For breakfast I am going to have some sort of fruit concoction. When I get home from the gym I'll probably have some mashed potatoes that are left over. As for the rest of the day I am going to be uncooking a lot! I have a bunch of food I need to use before it goes bad so I am going to make
pesto (my grandma's recipe - just oil, basil and garlic mmmmmmmm:))
brazil nut milk
savory nori snacks
mushroom ravioli
corn chowder
broccili soba in spicy almond sauce
lucious lemon cookiesEnjoy day 3 everyone

Solong - my goodness your menu sounds absolutely delicious. I want to come to your house for dinner! I wish I could get 1 exercise in, let alone 3 - that is wonderful!
LGJ - your description made me remember being outside when the snow is lightly falling with big wonderful flakes and not hearing anything but the soft wind and feeling absolutely taken up in the quiet, cold, and magnificence of God's beauty. Thank you for the memory.
Saltywater - I'm with you with the child keeping up the mom all night. I feel your pain. Hang in there. You are doing a great job staying raw through it all!
Cabosun - again a wonderful snow filled memory!
Mona - I look forward to some day dancing in the kitchen (or anywhere for that matter). Good for you!

Day three already! Good morning folks!
Dried apples & flax crackers in the morning, followed by nori rolls.
Today I walked about 17 miles along the Baltimore waterfront (Canton to Fort McHenry round-trip). I stopped at Whole Foods and Barnes & Noble along the way. There was a unicyclist show at Harborplace, and the usual guys on the flying trapeze.
Have a "rawsome" day! :) ron :)

I'm still new to being RAW (4th day today) but what a difference a day makes! I'm currently training for the Breast Cancer 3-Day (60 mile walk) in San Diego, CA. On day 2 of being RAW I walked 8.5 miles. Not a long walk, just average for me. Prior to the RAW diet I'd feel no after effects of that length of walk. Yesterday (day 3) I was in a lot of pain throughout my body. I had a terrible headache which I really had since day 1 but it worsened yesterday. Though I didn't take my temperature it felt like I was running a low grade fever. Yesterday was a very difficult day for me. Through that I stayed RAW and WOW today is wonderful. I woke up with no pain, my headache is gone. For the first time in years I can breathe clearly and I haven't taken my allergy medicine yet. I feel like I've been reborn! It is truly amazing.
Late next week I go to San Diego to participate in the 3-day walk. I'm a little fearful of being raw while traveling and how my body is going to react to the 60 miles. If anyone has any staying RAW while traveling suggestions I would love to hear them.
Have a beautiful day!:D

Good morning all.
Not much to report. I'm very busy and not spending a whole lot of time thinking or preparing food so my diet is pretty boring these days: green smoothies, shakes, salads, nuts, kale chips.
Breakfast today was a 64 ounce green smoothie. Need to get in the kitchen and make some kind of dressing for a salad later.
Well have a great day everyone.
You guys are so great. I just finished welcoming a newbie to this board and then I pull up this thread and read the most beautiful thoughts. At first I realized how lethargic I was even as a child then I just drifted into your beautiful scenes of past memories. It was joyful. Thank you so much! Anyway, today is my daughter's baby shower so I'm going to make a huge salad and some raw goodies as the other girls are having lasagna and tres leche cake and punch! As usual, I started with my green smoothie. I need to find something scrumptious to go with oranges--I bought a huge bag and don't really know what to mix with them for a great smoothie. ??? Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

This morning began well with an awesome fruit smoothie.
I'm new to eating raw. Right now, the thing I am completely enjoying is experimenting with all the different kinds of combinations I can come up with for smoothies.
Honestly, right now, I could see myself living on smoothies and nuts for awhile.
The thing I feel myself going through is separating what my body desires verses what my mind craves.
When I drink a smoothie I can feel a sense of peace and relief come from within my body. But in my mind, I still want pizza, cake, chicken, etc. Even though this is just the beginning for me, it has been a great learning lesson to be able to clearly see the difference between mind and body cravings.

Hi All! I'm going to the international farmers market tomorrow, and they have a LOT of cool fresh food, lots of raw stuff that I can't get even at whole foods.
Any ideas on what I should pick up? I want to prep for the week ahead! :)
I always get a case of 9 coconuts each weekend, cuz they're less than $1 EACH!

My husband and I went shopping today.
Bought some
spinach, romaine lettuce, green leaf lettuce
cucumbers, zucchini, carrots, tomatoes
several kinds of apples
starfruit, grapes, bananas
big bag of beautiful oranges
3 Larabars
Portobello mushrooms
almonds and pecans (love pecans)
flax seed and a ground flax seed meal
I'm excited about eating raw at work tonight. First time I can go to lunch without having to heat it up in the microwave. Just grab my bag and go to the lunch room or snack on it as I go about my shift.
I plan to take a green smoothie
nuts and fruit to snack on
Plus a Larabar
Also bottled water so I don't buy soda
Have a good day!

Checkin' in for today......It's been good so far....grapefruit for brekkie, orange for a snack, and then a salad of grated sweet potato/sliced celery with a "salsa" of tomatoes/marinated mushrooms/onion/spinach and topped with hemp seeds. It was um, "interesting"....I don't think I'll make it again. I only used that combo of ingredients because I needed to use them up before they went bad! I hate throwing out veggies! Anyway, don't know what the rest of the day holds, but I may make Alissa's choroses....haven't made it in awhile, and it's sooooo good! Have a great Saturday everyone!

Good afternoon everyone!
Well day 3 is it?? I already lost track.
Last night I was going to make spaghetti but dh said he felt like Thai....so Thai it was.
We make fresh yummy spring rolls with lettuce as wrappers and soften sea tangle noodles for the rice, then lots of veggies.
Tom Ka soup with coconut milk, more veggies.
Pad Thai with zucchini noodles and spicy sauce
and a curry dish.
too yum
and for dessert.....bananas wrapped in coconut and then dehydrated until warmed through. yummy!
He helps in the kitchen so it may sound like lots of work but it wasn't really.
I've only had water this morning and am feeling really hungry. But I am at the library since the home computer sucks.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. This is it for me until monday.
chat with y'all later

I did make some of the raw chocolate (found recipe on the forum somewhere) last night and it was really good. Had to put it in fridge covered before it somehow got all eaten (now who would do such a thing!

Been drinking concoctions all day, other than a champagne mango somewhere inbetween.
Hemp smoothie with spinach and banana
Tea
Champagne Mango
Aloe, cucumber, celery, mint, lime, and coconut water juice. YUM. Will use less aloe, next time, tho :P
Oh, and for some reason, yoga was SUPER easy today! I felt so strong, it's insane. :)

I'm doing good. Actually on day 5 since I started a few days early. I'm feeling great.
Trying to make a raw pizza now, really just the crust cause I started so late I'll make the pizza tomorrow.
My pumpkin cookies and pie came out good but it was a bit bland and I would have liked it to be more smooth. But hey! that's what experimenting is all about.
Does anyone a GOOD, simple recipe for a raw wheat bread? I have some wheat berries sprouting and would like to find a good STAPLE bread that I can make over and over. If you do please post it AND email me directly. I've only had the chance to check in here about once a day and I need to use the sprouts by tomorrow. BoraDeb@yahoo.com (BoraDeb@yahoo.com)
Thanks a bunch,
Love you guys

Hi everyone Im late checking in today, it's nearly midnight here in the UK.
Woke up with full on flu like detox going on so just had water til lunchtime. Ive had detox symptoms before when Ive done 2 weeks raw a few times, this time feels deeper...like another layer is being shed:rolleyes: Physically I feel weak & aching all over but emotionally I feel really happy like my inner child is just dancing for joy inside me;) It is quite an odd combination of feelings LOL
Have had a banana, nori rolls stuffed with mixed seed pate, salad & sprouts, a pummet of blackberries & about 2 cups of sugar snap peas.
see you all tomorrow

snack- big plate of fruit shared with DD, and a raw bar.
Early dinner- small raw bun with nutburger and greens.
going to work for a few hrs and packing a salad and apple in case- not sure if I will eat it.

Wanted to touch base at the end of my eating day here. Just checking out the posts and reading what everyone was up to today as I enjoyed my gazpacho. Has to be my best batch ever--would not be able to tell it from the old cooked version. Really proud of myself today as I did not give in to cravings. My weekend job is serving up food samples--really did not get all that tempted. Had taken an apple, some water and a raw trail mix I put together last night. Stayed the course--even past my old nemesis--mashed potatos. Feeling just too good to go and mess it up for myself and end up feeling physically lousy. Thanks everyone for being here--the support is just (r)awsome.

Day 3.
Ran some errands that weren't very successful, so I took myself to Cafe Gratitude for lunch. It always feels almost strange (and wonderful) to be ordering from a restaurant menu!
Breakfast: Green smoothie - collard greens and banana
Lunch: Cafe Gratitude Spring Rolls, Taco Salad, Cacao pudding
Dinner: Apple
Daylight saving times ends tonight. I'm glad because I like daylight in the mornings. No matter what I do, it's too hard for me to get up in the dark.
Great weekend to everyone.

goood morning!!!
i feel energized, even though i didnīt sleep that much (baby woke up early)
yesterday was my first night ou raw. it went very well!!! i took greens and extra colorful veggies with spicy tahini sauce and a pear. no one said anything...itīs so nice not to have to explain, there was even a friend of mine that worked at pure food and wine with me (we are both portuguese but went to cooking school at the natural gourmet in nyc and worked together at pure food and wine - i was 100 % raw then for months, but it was sooo easy). anyways...
iīm starting with water today...i really need to drink up
maybe making some carrot flax crackers later.
have a wonderful sunday full of raw goodies....

Not sure if or what I will eat today! But..sure it will come
My kitchen is full of ripe lovely fruit..mm the smell is lovely :) ...and not a fruit fly in sight..for once!
Raw-k on
I was out as well yesterday! I went to a halloweenparty that had "Barbie" as a theme. Me and my husband dressed up as dancing SwingBarbies. I had packed my bag with fruits and nuts just in case. It was a nice party but something happend. Unfortunately a girl drank too much and got alcoholpoisined and had to be taken to the hospital. It is so sad that we have a culture and tradition of poisoning our bodys. I hope sheīs feeling better today.
These two last days I havenīt slept that well and something is going on in my stomach. My throat is swollen and Iīm kind of worried about it since I have to go to work and sing next week. I really want it to heal. I will try to rest and drink a lot of water. Anyone else had experience of detox and infected throat?
Have a lovely day everyone

I had exactly the same kind of detox.. again about 3 weeks ago, swollen throat, then no voice, then 7 days of full flu. Still not feeling back to 100% but at least it means the right thing is happening
Try to take it easy and get plenty of fluids- orange juice, lemon juice and eccenacia work wonders!
Really hope it passes quickly for you !!
Thanks! I will try that :)

Hands down that is my favorite raw food restaurant. If I could eat like that every day, I'd be in absolute raw heaven. Maybe someday when I win the lottery.;)
Had a chocolate shake last night and it kept me up until about 2 am. Very unusual for me as chocolate normally doesn't affect me, but I know that it can have the same effect as caffeine. It wasn't a jittery or nervous feeling, just wide awake. I will still eat my chocolate shakes, but just not so late in the day.
Have a great day all.

Happy day number 4 everyone.
Son is still vomiting, feverish and up at night.
I feel very tired this am but am willing to try one of The Firm workout tapes again (it is hard to keep up with something new and all those turns and hops, etc.).
Food yesterday:
Cereal with almond milk and banana
Mesclun salad with macademia oil and sea salt and green pea soup
Guacamole wrapped in lettuce leaves
Chocolate candy (yummyyyyyy)
Looked through some of Alissa's recipes - the Noasted Turkey sounds really good for Thanksgiving with cranberry sauce and greens. Will keep looking for a side dish as I really do not like cauliflower mashed potatoes.
Have a wonderful raw day everyone

Currently I am indulging in a smoothie or swiss chard, kale, raspberries, strawberries and orange juice. mmmmmmmmm!!!!
Off to jazzercise this morning in a few minutes then coming home to some delishous pancakes that are almost done!
After that, going to church with my mom then going shopping for some more veggies and fruit.
I have a pineapple to cut up and then I can relax because I was uncooking ALL day yesterday - from 2 until midnight:eek:

I can't tell ya'll how much I love it when the clock turns back!:D But to be completely fair and honest, I get just as excited (and sometimes MORE) when the clock moves forward (spring/summer is MY time)!
So far I've done things a little backwards. Usually in the morning I have fruit, or a smoothie, or my choc. shake. But the onion bread was done and I was cutting it up (6 trays worth), and it just smelled SO good! So that was breakfast. (Not all six trays mind you!)
I think I'll have a green smoothie before noon or whenever the hunger starts to hit. Sounds good to me!:D
Hope everybody has a RAWKIN' RAWESOME day! :D

megazelle- yes the gas thing is my biggest relief and husband is way annoyed. I shall explain to him.....Like anything, it will pass!
You all have been very inspirational for my first time going raw.....I too am looking to havemy child-like spirit shine. I observe my 8 month old and picture myself as a little one, randomly bursting out in laughter during car rides while playing music. What a joy it has been to observe and feel her happiness.
I am the girl who has been dipping walnuts in nut butter in the PM.....wanting the "full" feeling. Now I will consciously begin reaching for greens instead!

Hi all, my detox flu type symptoms are still upon me & i'm coughing up nasty stuff  I havent smoked for about 2 years but i've obviously still got alot of the damaging gunk to get rid of :p
I had a personal miracle occur for me whilst shopping today...I totally didnt want ANY of the SAD food at all, not even when i walked by the bakery with all the fresh bread smells :D
Instead my mouth was watering all the way down the fruit & veg aisles...my body really seemed to want some wierd fruits Ive never had before...i tried walking by them but couldnt get them off my mind so had to go back for them. It was Sharon fruit (permisson?) & custard apple (chiramoya?). I had them as soon as I got in & they were heavenly;)
just goes to prove my body knows best!
Sofar today soaked dates, lemon water, sharon fruit x2, custard apple.
Will have onion bread, sprouts & seed pate tonight...maybe some salad.

Well, I didn't know if I was going to make it yesterday, I find the weekends more challenging mentally. I am still preparing food for family of 6 and I'm the only one eating all raw.
I've been keeping it simple:
Yesterday was:
Breakfast - a Green Smoothie
Lunch - veggie plate
Dinner - Big Salad
Before Bed - I was a little hungry so I had another banana
I'll probably have about the same today, but I did make some raw hummus I'll probably have with lunch.
Yesterday I woke up feeling a bit rough around the edges, and didn't even get out of bed until 9:00, lots of mucus. BUT this morning MUCH improved, and chronic muscle pain is already eased up.

Miahtay and Crystalmoon - I hope you are both feeling better very soon (and anyone else who is feeling detox/under the weather).
Menu so far:
Cereal with almond milk and banana
Soup with veges (tomato & onion & cilantro tossed in) + mesclun salad with
sea salt and macademia oil (very, very comforting and tasty)
I have to say that I tried really hard to follow the Transfirmer series tape (cardio + sculpting) - I fell off the box twice and just could not keep up with it at all which frustrated the bananas out of me. So I dug through my old tapes and found a step one from Susan Powter days of old. I will see if I can keep up with that for now and perhaps move forward. I don't think exercise should be an 'exercise' in trying not to kill myself during the tape. :o
Keep on keeping on....:)

Raspberry4 you made me chuckle...every time I try new gym equipment it is an 'exercise' not to kill myself LOL I'm not the most co-ordinated of people ;)
I just re-measured my self cos I was feeling different in my clothes...Im using measurements rather than scale weight cos I think its a better guide...
well guess what I've had major changes in the 4 days of this challenge...
I've lost 3 whole inches off my waist :)
1 inch off my bust
2 inches off my hips
That has really cheered me up & detox is a tiny price to pay for results like these;)
