Hi there! My name is Murray, from South Africa but living in Burundi doing volunteer work for the year. I'm 33 yrs old, been on raw for nearly 3 years... great tropical fruit here in Burundi! I am VERY skinny (1.83 metres and weigh 59 kg/130 pounds I think) . I used to weigh 70 kgs before raw. This doesn't concern me as I feel great, did 2 triathlons on raw as well so no problem with lack of strength. But family and friends WORRY about me, say I look ill because I am so skinny. Any tips to pick up weight on the raw (to get others to relax!)? I eat plenty of avos and bananas... still skinny-(but happy)boy!
Your help is greatly appreciated.
With loving thanks
Murray (murr1234@hotmail.com)

Hi, Murray. Welcome to this forum. There is a member named Andrew who is very actively involved in adding weight. You can check out his journal (just find him in the Member section) which details his extensive eating and working out schedule.
I, personally, don't see a problem with being thin. I am also even though I've been raw for just 4 months. I have to do some calculations to figure out how thin you are using U.S. measures, though!!
There is the option, of course, of just ignoring (nicely) what they say. But ... you say that you'd like to be heavier, so ... my only suggestion would be to add density to your muscles -- lift weights or use The Miracle Seven system (sort of like isometrics, if you're not familiar with it -- it's actually pretty cool).

Welcome Murray. Do you eat nuts and seeds? They are very good for high calorie foods.
I am glad to hear you are doing so well and keeping physically active.
Blessings.

I used an online converter (I just love refdesk.com -- it's my home page -- it has almost everything anyone could possibly ever need to know!) to find out that 1.84 meters is a little over 6 feet tall
Okay, Skinny-Boy, I can see how people are freaking out about your famine look. When I met my first ex when he was 18, he was 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed barely 140 pounds, so I do know what this is like. But still, I say that if you're healthy and happy, forget about them!

Thanks to you all for your immediate responses. Wow, you guys are great! Well, as it is I am happy with my weight; I just prefer it if others don't worry about me. There's enough worrying in our poor world as it is!
Nuts and seeds aren't available, unfortunately, in Burundi. Though peanuts are... so have started sprouting them. Maybe I'll put on a pound or 2!
All the best in your natural endeavours!
Murray
