Hello all! Thursday was my 30th day of raw, and I haven't given into any SAD temptations whatsoever. However, I just don't seem to be feeling any of the benefits I've heard others speak of, and I'm trying to figure out why. I'm by no means considering reverting back to eating cooked foods, I just...expected a little more, I guess.

What have you been eating? It could be certain raw foods are aggravating to your system. I just found out about Dosha body types and what foods to eat for your different dosha. I am a "kapha" type, and certain foods like dates, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc unbalance me, whereas foods like pomegranates, pears, apples, peppers balance me.
In the book Conscious Eating, Gabriel Cousens has a sort of test to figure out which type you are and which foods are aggravating to your system.
:)
What have you been eating? It may depend on different factors, like (im)proper food combining, eating too much or too little, eating loads and loads of nuts, dried fruits and hardly any greens, constantly grazing before the last meal has digested properly... Also other factors like stress, emotional blocks, not enough sleep, not enough movement etc. can play a role.
So what and how did you eat/drink? And haven't you noticed any difference at all, how small those might be?

Alissa's program (which this site is based upon) does not require that you restrict yourself of anything or eating certain "types" of diets...just FYI for the OP and everyone else reading this (see the Mission Statement and Rules for more on that).
Now, the thing to keep in mind is that not everyone gets results in the same time frame. A LOT of other factors come into play such as, your previous diet, any meds you previously took or currently take (prescription or otherwise), past health conditions/issues, etc.
A good example is myself...I thought that I would immediately get the "burst of energy" that I had read so much about and I really wanted that because prior to going raw, I was always tired and lethargic. I did not get that energy boost during the first few days as some did or even the first 30 days. For me, it was several months later before I noticed that I didn't "need" a nap everyday as I did before.
So, sometimes it just takes time and patience. Remember, you were eating cooked food WAAAAY longer than the 30 days that you ate raw so please be patient with your body and the adjustments that it has to make. Give it time.
Congrats on your 30-days raw!

30 days raw! Wow that alone is a big accomplishment that should make you feel awesome! I have trouble making it more than a day 100% raw. I eat a lot of raw foods, but I will have a coffee or some unraw salad dressing or a cooked vegetable. You are doing so fantastic!

I too am waiting for that "burst" of energy. I did have the detox after only 2 days but energy wise it's a waiting game. But that's ok cuz I am sleeping better at night and not so fuzzy headed in the morning when I do wake up. I quit drinking coffee last April when I went raw for the first time and even tho I went back to SAD I never did go back to coffee.
I think sometimes it's different for each person. So be patient and you will see changes as time goes on.

How is your mind feeling, dear? I know with myself...if my mind isn't in the right place, even being high raw wouldn't make me feel like I was in heaven
I am not totally raw right now but I'm bringing in more and more raw foods, and although I know that the food influences the mind greatly, it's also vice versa...if you're not absolutely thrilled to just be alive and breathing at this very moment, all the beautiful things (and food!) in the world won't change it
sometimes I freak out because I'm so happy to be alive
I can't even believe it
Just the fact that I can walk around this single planet, experiencing thousands of things in a day, changing my mind, my thoughts, feeling love, happiness, sadness, contemplation, being able to see the unquity of each person's past in their face and their lives, watching giant trees grow and sit idle against the city sky
it's all so amazing..and most of us really take it for granted because we are way too concerned with getting through the day and 'making something' of ourselves that we forget what a joy it is to simply be alive.

You do not know what fantastic things may be happening within your body. The body decides what healing it will do first and prioritises according to importance. It may be something has healed that you were not even aware of. Your body will get around to the more superflous stuff when it is ready.
Glad that you are sticking with it as it will be worthwhile.

Thank you all so much! And I realised today that I actually have gotten one benefit; my monthlys used to be TORTURE and now they only last two - three days and are incredibly light! So I guess raw fixed that right up =D I can't wait to see what else is in store.
