So, my husband is tolerant, at best, of my decision to "go raw". But, more recently he has become more supportive becuase he realizes it's for health reasons, not soley for weightloss (have a history of food issues ). I began my own blog and he saw it the other night, and was actually impressed, which totally blessed me. Still, I havne't made the transition to 100% because I haven't figured out how to handle social situations ( have alot of dinner obligations with work/school friends).

Well, tonight at dinner, we had some friends over for pumpkin carving, my husband decides to announce "oh-yeah, well, Wendy's gone raw on me". Out of the clear blue! At first I was shocked, and half wishing he would have done it at the beginning of the meal so I didn't have to eat the obligitory cooked food placed on my plate. We were kindof just chatting and getting to know eachother, so it wasn't really out of place, but still, I was shocked! It's not something we talk about more than once in a great while. I thought it was more of a source of tension between us. He evn told them about my green smoothies and how I "make " the baby eat them. He was slightly making fun, but it didn't matter to me, I got to tell a bit about why I was doing this and how it really wasn't that hard.
Then after they left, I asked him about it and he said he was just telling them something about me. He thought it was great I could do it, and it took great discipline. Yeah! So happy! (insert happy dance!)
Now I feel like I can make a transition to 100%,with his support!

Congratulations, Wendy. I do know how important this is to you. My husband has seen me through every "diet" imaginable in our 17 yrs and is not impressed when I try something new because he knows I won't stick with it for more than a couple of weeks. I had been doing well on something (as far as weight loss goes) but it was so unhealthy. When I began raw, he was his usual self. "Just don't try to convert me!" He now drinks a green smoothie every morning (insists on it!) and tastes all my food. Very supportive and wants to see me succeed in areas of health and weight loss. It really takes some of the stress off of an already stressful life! I hope it just keeps getting better for you.

Having support does make alot of difference. It also feels like just a bit of accountability. I want to prove this works, so it gives me a little boost to make better choices so I can give raw the chance to heal as it can.

That's really encouraging, SuBu, to hear about dh. I don't think mine will join me in the green smoothies, but I have my 2 youngest joining me with them. My 3rd born ds actually finished mine yesterday. I didn't like the flavor combo, and gave it to him, he drank it down and loved it!

I do have a 15 yr history of trying every diet known to man. But, the difference in the last 3 yrs is it has been mostly to get healthy, and the weightloss second. So, I understand his skeptisism (sp?). But, I am just going to do my best, and remember it's a journey. He is even letting me get a dehydrator! That's very cool, especially seeing how the shipping will cost as much as the dehydrator itself to get here!
