Does anyone seem to have a reaction (laxative effect) to olive oil? Sorry for the delicate topic, but am wondering if it is just me for some reason. This has never happened before... geez:o

No, but try an apple-cranberry smoothie. That'll do it, believe me!:o

Maybe you have some bad olive oil and the body is eliminating it as soon as possible ?

When I have coconut oil, avocados and/or olive oil, I do go more often. My mom says it's "good fat" pushing bad fat through... I dunno, but my body works better with it.

Well, isn't oil a lubricant?

My mom used to make me take a shot of olive oil when I was constipated, long before I knew about raw. Mom does know best!

Well, isn't oil a lubricant?

a so simple but seemingly so over looked
point for this mentioned problem .

True, it is just really weird that this has never happened before and now I have to plan my day so I am near a bathroom - gets a bit frustrating at times. Anyway...I know I can leave it out, but I really do not like anything else in my salads but oo and lemon or lime. Oh well...just wondering if anyone else had this happen after being raw for a long time. Thanks...

Actually, I want to thank you for this thread. I'm having "issues" in that area and it was a good reminder to add some olive oil to my salads. In fact, I've been deliberately trying to avoid so much fat that my skin is extremely dry now. I have been having a pretty bad case of what I think is eczema on my face. I thought it was just detox, but I'm washing with oils now and am eating some veggies drizzled with olive oil and seasonings for lunch today. Hope it helps in all other areas as well!

When I experience detox issues I increase the fiber in my diet.

i came in this thread cuz ive had ibs-d for 4 years , whole food vegan 15 years / raw foodist 2 , here now at age 49 . and ive experimented with tens of dietary changes and eliminating the oils in my dressing helps , and i was bummed like you cuz i love the OO/LL dressing . but after thinkin about it i go oil is not a natural food , its a highly concentrated and highly oily :) substance that i can see how after its use for decades could saturate the g.i. tract and cause the d word . so thinking in terms of eating for optimum health/longevity my basic logic is to trust in unaltered raw or sun dried plant matter which of oils is not one so i no longer miss it . its like some of us develop an ' oil allergy / saturation ' and have to quit it IMO .

IVE TAKEN TO SHREDDING MY GREENS AND VEGIS REAL THIN LIKE IN COLESLAW SO THAT THEY TASTE GOOD WITHOUT THE DRESSING , oh sorry didnt know the caps was on . and i also sprinkle alot of raw sesame seeds on the salad or chopped walnuts to give it flavor .

Thanks everyone. I would like to try more avocados in place of olive oil for a while and see if it helps. (The avos have been looking very sad at the grocery store - overly ripe and squishy lately so I am waiting for the good ones). I did throw out the bottle of oil I had been using but I so I will see if the next one makes a difference too (use lesser amounts and work up). I notice alot dryer skin when I do not eat olive oil. Anyway...I'll keep 'playing' til I get it right. Thanks....
