Hi everyone! I have just started my new journey with raw. So far, I am loving it. Cheated a little, but I am ready to commit and stick with it. Alissa, if you're reading this, thanks for providing a non-threatening easy accountability forum. I think it is the very thing I needed.

I am 38 years old. I weigh about 30-35 lbs more than I should right now. I have 4 terrific children (ages 5, 4, 2 and 1), a wonderful husband, and a God who loves me. In my off times from "mommy" and "darling", I am a photographer. I create portraits of children and families. I love what I do, and have a great time with it.

We live in the country - just outside of Houston, Texas. It is quiet here - lots of pecan, peach and fig trees. Many of our neighbors have cows and you can here them mooing in the distance from time to time. We leave our windows open most of the time and their is a wonderful breeze (albeit sometimes a little warm and moist) going through our house on most days. I live a relaxed and blessed life surely.

I am pleased to be able to join this group. Looking forward to making new virtual friends!

Hi Di - I'm Anna. I wish I had learned about raw food when I was 17 (or younger for that matter). I was a vegetarian for many years before I married, but it still wasn't right. There was just something missing. But this feels just right for me. Feeling great so far...

How are your friends reacting to your decision to be raw? I ask because so far, my friends have lots of doubting questions = not very supportive. They would rather hit the drive through at McD's than do something "radical" like this. The other reason I ask is because I would like to move my kids onto raw foods entirely over the next couple of years. I realize this will be a slow process for my older 2 - my younger ones already love it! One of my concerns is peer pressure. Have you looked at the rawfamily.com web site yet? Their kids tell their story about how they handled peer pressure - very encouraging.

Well, thanks for the reply. BTW, are you part of HoustonRawVegans? It is a Yahoo! group that gets together for potlucks periodically.

Hi Anna,
Welcome! You have found a great forum for support! It has kept me going for nearly 2 weeks now, which is amazing for me. I'm 34 and have a raw 2 y.o. son and one on the way in a month or so. My husband's not raw, but very supportive. I feel sorry for him sometimes, because there is not much else but raw food in the house anymore, lol! But I guess it's only for his benefit as well.

Anyways, I will see you around hopefully!
