I want to make some raw chili now that the weather is cooler. Any really good recipes out there?
In my opinion, Alissa's chili is THE BEST - hands down.
My second favorite would be the one that Yani posted: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1081

Wow- it's amazing! Best chili ever!!! LOL Ok I varied it a little, but that's part of the fun! Yummmmmmm!! And if Alissa's is better like you said, it must be mindblowing!!! Can't wait to try it!!:D

Here's a chili recipe I had at a potluck. I may be missing a few spices, but this is the basic idea...
Mix together in a very large bowl:
4 cups sprouted barley
1 med. bell pepper, diced
1/2 small red onion, diced
2 ears of corn, shaved from cob
1/4 c honey or raw agave
1 c water
1/3 c olive oil
2 oranges, peel and section skins removed
10 tomatoes, diced small
Then add any of these spices or others you may like:
curry
chili powder
Italian seasoning
cayenne
garlic cloves, crushed
In a food processor, blend:
1 onion
1 c dates or raisins (soaked)
1 c sun dried tomatoes, or you can dehydrate tomatoe cut in half in your dehydrate for 6-12 hrs
Add this food processor mixture to the large bowl with the barley and spices, mix well. If you want it warm, pour into bowls and dehydrate for awhile.

GW - this is very similar to Alissa's, which I made and it is wonderful. First bite I thought - ya I don't know, but then after the second and third bite, WOWZER! It is very good. I made the sour cream and plopped a dallop on top and it is very, very good!
Why would I even doubt about an Alissa recipe? Silly me!

michigan roman - i haven't sprouted wheat, but to me, barley has an oatey flavor and a similar texture to oats or white rice.

Veganforlife - I wouldn't know how close this is to alisa's recipe since I have never read her book. Besides, I thought this was a sharing forum? Why are people so hesitant to state what's in a recipe?
I had a dish similar to what I posted, and then tried to replicate it at home the following week from my tastebud's memory. This is what I came up with and it's a winter staple for me!

Glow Worm,
Don't know what you're missing with Alissa's recipe book--what a life changer. Gets my vote, too for the best raw chili recipe out there. I adore it topped with the raw sour cream and some raw onions or the onion dip. Hope you get a chance to try it--your taste buds will be thanking you forever!

Are they? I didn't get that in what Lucy said. All I saw was a comment saying it was similar to Alissa's recipe and that it was wonderful. *shrugs* Maybe I'm missing something?

Revvell - Here's what I saw happen in this thread….Garden granny asked for a chili recipe. Ama tells her about a great one, but doesn't tell her how to make it.
I would say that happens 90% of the time on this forum when someone asks for a recipe. People say they know of a great one, but not what's in it. Why the big mystery? Share the recipe if you think it's so great.

GW - I know Alissa has asked that her recipes not be posted here without her permission, which I can understand because they are in her book. This has been discussed before about the copyright of posting (without permission) folks' recipes. There are many many recipes that are posted however.
I think it's a matter of respect.
