View Full Version : my first colonic

i just went to my first colonic this morning.
i was actually quite excited for it..
ive had chronic diarrhea/loose bms for months and loads of rumbly gas &bloating,
its been AWFUL.

anyways it was at this ladys house.
her website looked good,
and was the first one that popped up on google.

i dont know how i feel about it

the bed was in her bathroom.
she said she didnt use the pressure system,
but the gravity system, and what i was getting was more like an enema,
except more of a continuous in & out,
unlike enemas where you hold it.

she had the hose hooked up to her bathroom sink,
and said it went through a filter and a sterilizer.

i was pretty relaxed and had some trapped gas, poop and mucousy stuff come out, so thats good i guess.

but i could hardly feel it in me??
i hear about all the pressure and i definitely dont think my colon was filled up.
i feel really tired and lightheaded now,
had an emotional burst of crying, when lately ive been SO HAPPY,
i still feel bloated,
and i gained two pounds.

this is not what i expected the experience to be.
wondering if it was worth 80$

Jeez....Not exactly a stellar experience. I don't blame you for questioning it.

I think that you should be more carefull.
Was she certified. Did her equipment meet the recomended standards.
The temperature of the water needs to be tightly controled and if it is not correct it can cause you to go in to a coma.
I would not go back to her but would find a certified practicioner instead. I would make sure that they had the correct equipment and that they used hospital grade sanatiser.
There are Colon hydrotherapists on this forum who will tell you what questions to ask. It is not something that you should take risks with.

Do you think it did a better job then an enema ?

ive never had an enema done so im not sure.
she said the method was a more gentle technique than the pressure method and so she preferred it.
she had a temperature guage that she kept an eye on.
she is certified and has been practicing for 8 years.

ive felt tired and headachey all day but i dont know if thats normal.
im feeling a bit better.
im not very happy about it though.

i definitely think ill look somewhere else.

*worried*
do you think it could have done me any harm?
could it have been worse than me doing a home enema on myself with no experience?

So much depend of the skill of the practitioner rather than the equipment they use. I've had colonics from the gravity method, upside down water bottle as well as the fancy equipment with all the gauges. The worst colonic I've ever had was from a woman that had all the right equipment but no skill with people. She wanted to keep her mangy little old dog in the room with us during the session. His scratching started driving me crazy so I asked her to put him out and she started arguing with me that he wasn't scratching and I was imagining it. I should have walked out.

I don't think you did yourself any harm. Follow your intuition and find another therapist, but don't let their equipment be the deciding factor.

Hey Aililiu,
Try not to worry about this. Put it down to a learning experience. Next time try to find a reputable person/company and if possible someone or somewhere where people have written reviews of their experiences. Just to put your mind at ease.

Hug to you, so sorry it didn't go as you wished.

I went to someone where she injected chlorophyle and dark rubbery thing came out the first time, which she said that it usually take 5 session to get there. I think this is because i have been doing raw food and tone of greens that i was ready to release this.

The first time i had a headache and second time i was fine. Both time, i suffer with constipation afterward and i don't know why, but it is getting back to normal.

Maybe you should research for another professional, but also keep in mind that it might take up to 5 sessions. The woman explained to me that our colon sometime is so dry up that the first time, we don't release much.

Sorry it didn't go well. I just went twice and i am considering to do another round but i am a little worry about the side effect.

Best wishes.

i think it's really important for us all to remember... when you go to get a treatment, if the situation doesn't seem 'right'... then empower yourself and leave. tell the practitioner that you've changed your mind, or be upfront and explain exactly why you are choosing to leave... but leave.

after all, it's YOUR body, it's your right to choose... and if you don't protect your body from a possibly unhealthy situation, then who will? (not saying this was an unhealthy situation but by your description... it didn't sound good)

thanks for the reassuring words, you guys :)
i do feel a lot better today, back to normal.
i definitely want to continue with colonics,
but yes i will elsewhere. i really DID look into it and by her website she seemed very professional... heh.
i still feel like i have loads to come out, but like youve said, it can take a few treatments.
i have had a few bms since then, smaller ones,
and once a big glob of mucous came out
(hey, you guys knew this was a tmi thread ;) sorry. but i was happy to see it come out)

dakini: at least this lady put her dog away before the treatment!

ps, sport, cheers for that coma comment. i could hardly sleep last night, having anxiety attacks and imagining all sorts of symptoms. lol.

my headache is mostly gone, but i had a VERY emotional day yesterday, crying a lot, and broke out on my face a bit... is this from toxins being stirred up? i thought the point of colonics was to get the toxins OUT to relieve detox?

Enemas can be done at home for free 24/7 without an appointment.

Have you checked out the okra thread ? http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=33838

Do not worry. Once you had got off the table you were safe. I understand that it would have happened immediatly.
I made this point in order to make people understand the importance of this matter. You just do not allow just anybody to interfere with your internals.
I am sorry if I caused you alarm. You should have contacted me.
PS. I got my info from a member of this forum who is a certified Colon Hydrotherapist.

This really hit a spot. You are so right about that, we need to be a leader when it regards our health and safety.

Thank you for sharing, i love your quotation

sport... dont worry about it, no permanent damage done by worrying ;)
i knew i was overreacting at the time and just couldnt help it.
i was very very over emotional the rest of the day after the colonic.
am feeling fantastic now,
and really really want to have another session, so ill be calling around to find a place.

she told me the gravity method was more gentle...
but is the pressure method more effective?
do i need to be worried about it, if its a good place/practitioner?

I really appreciate this conversation, as I am considering a colonic tx. What is the certification we should look for? And does having a tx always mean that you then have to take alot of probiotics and extra stuff? I sort of balk at that idea--depleting our bodies of something that they really need. Maybe it's just better to get cleaned out more slowly , by just eating RAW foods......

Maybe it's just better to get cleaned out more slowly , by just eating RAW foods......:confused:I think the most appropriate time to consider colonics / enemas is when a person is fasting or is over whelmed by toxins. Other then that I personally just rely on good old fiber to do the job. If I feel toxic, say I see a skin eruption or something, then I simply increase the amount of fiber in my diet to help scoot the toxins out.
