I had a very unfortunate incident happen last night with my bag of goji berries I had just recently ordered online.
I left the bag in my car to snack on while out and about and when I went grocery shopping last night, my dogs were in the car. They love going on errands! Well....lo' and behold when I got back to the car the bag was ripped to smithereens and there was not a single goji berry to be seen!!! I couldn't really be mad, cuz well, if I were a dog in that situation I'd do the same thing!
That is just sad--- that bag was not cheap!!!!
My husband always jokes about the dogs and says, "Kirsten, all it will take is JUST ONE BULLET..."
Of course he is totally joking!!!!!!! We love our troublesome canines.

They are 2 mutts- one a rhodesian rhidgeback mix and one a boxer/greatdane/pit bull mix or something along those lines.
So far, they are chill and haven't gotten the runs!! That was my first thought! (uh-oh, the runs...) I was also concerned that maybe that goji's may be toxic to dogs, like grapes are. But no ill effects thus far and it happened last night.
Has anyone else had any weird/funny things happen with their dogs eating raw stuff?

ooo how cute is that? my little girl looooves goji berries too. The first time we gave them to her she went nutso over them... couldn't eat them fast enough -- it almost made her a little psycho she wanted them so badly!! so... I told my dh to stop giving them to her cuz she was really getting demanding about it.... http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/72wsux_th.gif ... ....
so -- now we let her have about 5 goji berries and we stop! Just b4 she starts getting intense about it!!
it did make her constipated the first time too... so another reason to not let her have 30  (or more) little berries!! (yes, bad dh http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/nono.gif ... he thought it was cute to see her all a quiver over goji berries.... ) oh and fyi - she weighs like 7 pounds - she's just a tiny little thing!

I should buy some pet rats. I need an animal to share my goji berries with.

Starfire- I read your blog pretty regularly (you really have a knack for writing, btw-have you considered that the universe may want you to pursue that?) and saw the precious little pics of your doggie in the new car! Sooooooo Cute! How did you get her to keep the glasses on? Are they the special doggie glasses? I have a visual in my head of your dog "all a quiver" over goji berries!
Sbaker- My dogs love almonds also! I never thought twice about it until recently I read on a post here that almonds were toxic to cats so I have stopped giving my dogs the almonds b/c I thought they may also be toxic for dogs. You should read the post... it was just in the last few days.
Also, where do you live in CO? I am in Littleton, near Roxborough State park It would be nice to hook up w/someone else into the rawfood lifestyle. I know no one here as of yet.
My dogs love it when I juice and I mix the pulp into their food- I also always give them fingerfulls of my green smoothies. They eat it so quick they don't even taste anything I'm sure! Their loss!!

Wish I could get my teenage boys to dive into goji berries like that.

"It doesn't look like a dorito. Why should I eat it?"
