I searched the forums and could not find anything relating to this, so forgive me if by asking this it is a repeat.

Has anyone who has been raw over a period of time experienced an increase in IQ? I'd also be interested to know the average IQ of the raw community (post what yours is if you're comfortable) as compared to the rest of the world.

It's known that exercise can help increase blood flow to the brain and encourage the formation of new dendrites. I wonder if the raw food diet might encourage the same.

My IQ, by the way, since I did ask all of you, is 139.

I have noticed an increase in mental energy since eating more raw. On day 1, I gave up caffeine cold turkey with no ill effects. I used to pound several glasses of iced tea just to get my brain started in the morning.

I have no idea what my IQ is but my memory has improved. I notice this since I am in school and have been doing much better in recent weeks.

Preface: I believe "IQ" is a lot of crap, and its history is tied with the ideological concept of "race" and psychometrics which bothers me tremendously, but mine is 154.
ladypeace82, I have also noticed an incredible improvement of memory, my memory was shot, now its constantly improving :D

I don't go by I.Q. Tests. They are meaningless to me. There are more ways then a few to tell how smart someone is. I don't go to Mensa, eaither. The last time I took an I.Q. test, I scored way below average. I mean, WAY below average meaning, mentally retarted. It was like 45 or something. I despise those tests.

On the other hand, I have noticed a mental clarity that I've not noticed in the past since being raw. Also, my physical agility has gotten better, and I'm more flexible.

[Said with humor not conceit]: I'm very intelligent and already know it, :p ,been reading books since I was 3 years old and was extremely bored in school. My IQ is high, but I never paid too much attention to it as the adults in my life had ridiculous expectations of me as a child trying to be a kid. It made life tough ironically. I personally think the test can be harmful to people's self-esteem and attaining their life purpose. It's just a test and needs to be kept in context.

But I do know and feel my EQ (emotion quotient) is higher now since eating raw foods. I'm much more grounded and balanced and have super coping techniques with most everything. I've really mastered don't sweat the small stuff, the big stuff that's another thing and a work in progress. But the small stuff? I've got that down. :D

Mine was 156 before I had that stroke. Don't know how I would score now but am sure it would be lower. Finding it harder to think well.

Of course IQ isn't everything. There have been many improvements to the original IQ tests, though, thankfully. But it's at least one thing that can be looked at objectively when trying to gather evidence that may possibly suggest a correlation between intellectual ability and the raw food diet, whether or not the relationship is causal.

Yes. I was never good in math.. took math 7 times.. still didn't pass.... it has upset me all my life.. I don't know my times tables past 3... to figure it out takes me a little while longer.. cause I have to write it out on paper.. You ask me what's 7X6=?
No idea. :(
But.... same thing was for subtraction and my son came home from school with way too much home work and I helped him with his math! I have no idea how I did it.. I just knew the answer.. I don't think my IQ's gone up but I think raw really helped shape my brain... almost like working out without the machines lol.

Not sure about IQ but my test scores have improved. Made a B in Statistics, which would have been impossible before raw. I think more clearer now and I don't get flustered as bad.

Oh, man, WHAT A STUPID TEST.
It made my IQ level of 183 (after going raw, before 't was 171) drop under 25 in one eardeafening blow...

Huh, mine too. My brain's been on vacation since my first pregnancy. I don't remember my actual IQ (see- I told you!), but I was very smart 7 years ago. I could quote entire conversations and remember loads of information. Now I cannot remember anything. That sounds ridiculous doesn't it?! I've been 100% raw for 10 weeks. I'm really hoping for improvement in the near future!

I find that my mental clarity suffers more when I eat foods high in fat than when I eat cooked foods that are not high in fat. For example, feed me a bowl of rice and I'm all right. But feed me a bowl of raw almonds and I will feel sluggish and think slowly.
